USA is eying an expansion of the upcoming eighth (and possibly final) season of Psych. I’ve learned that the network has ordered five more scripts from the veteran sleuth dramedy as a step toward a potential back episodic order. USA picked up an 8-episode eighth season of Psych in December, ahead of the show’s seventh season premiere in February.

Phew I did think 8 eps seemed a little strange, bringing it up to 13 would cap off a good run.
ReplyDeleteI don't want Psych to end, i love the show so much!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOn the one hand i'm really happy about this, but on the other i'm concerned that this will mean Maggie Lawson will have to be written out of the show.
ReplyDeleteThat's good; I was wondering why they had only ordered half a season, especially when Psych's seasons are already shorter than the average season. Still kind of hoping they'll pick up the additional 3 though
ReplyDeleteOoh, that's a good point, I hadn't thought of that
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely disgusted with Maggie Lawson and how she could just turn her back on a show that has given her so much, she's definitely not the person i thought she was. I guess she's just another shallow hollywood actress. Only five episodes? So what are they going to do with her character for the other seven episodes, and Steve Franks went on record a few days ago saying that Shawn and Juliet will have a future together. So i am really interested to know how the hell he is going to do that if she's not around. I sense a lot of very upset fans on the horizon. This is absolutely terrible news for fans of Juliet and Shules. How could she compromise giving her character Juliet the ending she deserves and worse a happy ending with Shawn. Either Steve Franks has a master plan in place or season 8 is going to really suck.
ReplyDeleteI love psych! I hope it never ends. C'mon son.
ReplyDeleteWhat? What? OMG! That's awesome.
ReplyDeleteI hope they don't do that.
ReplyDeletePsych's been on for years. Maggie doing what anyone would do with their career, look for new opportunities. She's not turning her back on the show (she's even dating James Roday, LOL). The show, as much as really I don't want it to end, will have to end. She probably feels that the time is near to bow out. Anyways, we don't even know if those scripts will turn into actual episodes. It's possible she will not be written out but recurring. Never fear, I'm sure Shawn and Juliet will be together til the very end.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the chances the show will have a 9th season?
ReplyDeleteShawn and Gus forever.
ReplyDeleteWhy would they have to do that?
ReplyDeleteSloooooow down there. Actors doing pilots as series are wrapping up is common practice, it's just the way the business works, and absolutely no misdoing on Maggie Lawson's part. Odds are her pilot won't be picked up anyway, but even if it is, with different shows shooting on different schedules she'll still be a part of the series. One source on twitter said she'd be available for up to 7 episodes for season 8. If she were there for 7/13, they could very easily come up with a plausible reason to write her out of the ones she misses and still bring the Shules relationship to a satisfying and complete conclusion. In any case, it's way out of line to launch a personal attack on someone you've never met based on them doing nothing wrong.....
ReplyDeleteShe's been cast as the lead in another pilot.
ReplyDeleteI pray that psych can go at least another season, the show gets funnier and funnier, There's not much more left on tv to watch and there's definitely no other show on like psych. USA please don't take off your best and only dramedy
ReplyDeleteSeason 8 starts filming very soon though - she will have time to film the episodes before starting on the new show, and that's IF the new show actually gets picked up.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's because she knows that season 8 will be the last. Plus with their filming schedule, she can still film this season before starting work on a new show, if it even gets picked up.
