    While I loved the Dany's massacre in Astapor (despite not being a Dany fan whatsoever), my favorite scene was Varys and Tyrion discussing revenge!


    That was something quite shocking to me since it is a new scene to the series that is not in the books. I think it was brilliant, and could very well be a launching point for Varys' arcs in Season 4 and 5 since he is absent most of Book IV and Book V.

    So many good possibilities ... I went for the Varys/Tyrion scene, in part because it reminded us of the hilarious reveleation of Pod's sexual prowess but mainly for its insight into Varys's back story.

    Tough choice tonight. The Varys/Tyrion scene... well what needs to be said, when these 2 are on screen, my absolute attention is required. They play off one another perfectly and Varys is immensely intriguing with his riddles and stories.


    On the same coin, I am glad we could select more than 1 favorite scene, because Dany laying waste to the slavers was fucking bad ass! I was hoping she could understand the slaver the whole time, and she did not disappoint.

    I liked the Varys/ Ros scene too!
    I seriously wonder where they are going with it though. Maybe he treated them as a lord or knight would treat a lady, something they are not accustomed to? Maybe it is just an ongoing joke designed to keep Pod in people's minds? Who knows XD

    Dany being awesome was my vote for today. The slaver being surprised at her speaking Valyrian was a lot of fun. (but really, almost all of these scenes were awesome, Margaery being called queen was also a great moment).

    Lord Varys and Tyrion for me. I love those two, and their scenes together never disappoints. Lord Varys scene with the Queen of Thornes was also brilliant.

    I also enjoyed Margaerys scenes, both with Sansa and with Joffrey.
    I´m not a big fan of Daenerys, but both this week and last week her scenes has been amazing. A big improvement from last year.

    I really enjoyed the BWB vs. the Hound scene. I was never that fond of Donadarrian in the books, but his actor was amazing. And I love we're getting into who the Hound REALLY is. His absolute disgust of being lumped in with things his brother did to children and babies - including the Targaryan royals - was awesome. And I laughed so hard when Arya admitted she was the one who hit Joffrey and without missing a beat, he replies, "Well, I should've killed YOU then." Hilarious line delivery.

    I loved so many! My favs were Varys&Olenna, Theon (surprise, surprise) and The Hound sentenced to trial by combat. But I also very much enjoyed Sansa and Margaery's scene, even though I find it kinda funny they offered her Loras.

    I think Lord Commander's death scene was too small, though. It was such a heartbreaking death in the books and yet looked so unsignificant here.

    I vote for the Hound & Brotherhood. I really think the scene was perfectly written and acted.

    Just saw the results. Wow. Peaple really seem to like the pompous Danaerys.
    But I just can't help my roll my eyes at her most of her screentime. She's so damn full of herself.

    I was never a fan of hers in the books, but I like her even less on the series!

    My favorite aspect of her book arcs was the prophecies connected to her (visions in the House of the Undying and Quaithe's visions). The TV series has pretty much cut all of that so far. Instead we get a girl who gets herself into trouble and then says "Dracarys" and everything is OK.

    Like I said somewhere else, Dany's dragons are the Essos equivalent of the Staples Easy Button.

    Daenerys ending scene was superb, but Joffrey's tour inside King's Landing was absolutely brilliant, the location was so real, that we can feel that we're really in King's Landing

    Yeah, I have to agree with this. It really pissed me off what they did at the House of the Undying on the show. I waited an entire season to see those visions and ... PFFFT. IMHO, Dany's SL only gets worse as the books go along. I was bored to tears during a majority of her stuff in A Dance With Dragons. Esp. that blue-haired freakazoid who she's supposedly in love with. I can't remember that annoying dude's name. God, he was annoying.

    Although he should be better in the series!

    They have removed Daario's hook nose,blue hair and goatee, gold teeth and parrot costuming and replaced him with a more dangerous looking version.

    I was disappointed by the Lord Commander's death too. I haven't read the books, but I felt like they really let his character down this season on the show so that I was almost glad when he died because he didn't seem to be doing anything for his own men...

    I Know, it surprices me aswell. I never liked her story in the books, but I guess people who has not read the books like her better. I think her story is turning out pretty good in season 3, season 2 was just awfull for Dany. I loved her scene in this episode, but there are just so many other and better stories, so I voted for Varys and Tyrion.

    I have read the books, so I knew what was going on, but even if I hadn't read the books it was obvious anyway....

    She has been teaching them to fire at the word "Dracarys" for 2 seasons and that is a high Valyrian word, so obviously she speaks Valyrian.I think it was mentioned in the show before, but if not it was mentioned in multiple supplemental videos.

    Regardless of whether or not I knew she was playing Kraznys, She once again was in a situation she got out of by saying one word to the dragons.... just like how the show did at the House of the Undying. VERY repetitive. Unlike the books where tHotU was entirely different.

    I don't see how she got out of the situation by using the dragons. It's been a while since I read the book, admittetly,though I can think of many differences between the book and the Dany storyline on the show so far (mostly to the show's benefit, imo, since in the books I find most of the Dany stuff downright boring, at least up until about this point in the narrative), but as far as I can recall, the key point here remained the same: Dany got them to sell her the army (in part by playing dumb), then, when she had it in her absolute control, she turned it on Astapor and wiped out the slavers and gave the slave army its freedom. What happened on the show seemed reasonably similar to my recollections of the book, certainly not what I'd call "entirely" different. What would you say the crucial differences are? (Serious question; not trolling.)

    Astapor was pretty much the same. Smaller scale of course since the Unsullied did not go through the city and kill many more slavers and people like in the books.

    However, The House of the Undying in the books was different and did not have Daenerys saying "Dracarys" at all. So to me the TV series has focused too much on the dragons saving Dany by having her get out of two situations using very similar ploys by saying "Dracarys!"

    Thankfully it was not a finale moment, but it still felt repetitive to me aside from being totally predictable because she did the same thing to Pyatt Pree in tHotU.

    And yes, for me it is also annoying that she depends on those dragons so much. Like when they cut Jaime's hand off and said he thought it was enough to say "my father", well, it's similar with her.

    I see your point but wonder whether that's actually a deliberate ploy for the series, to create something memorable and visual for the TV audience experiencing the story in short installments over a long time rather than in relatively quick succession in a jeezly long book. (Not that there haven't been--and still are--large gaps between the books, too....) And I didn't much care for the Houses of the Undying stuff anyway, so I guess the changes just didn't register or didn't bother me.
    There's just so much to keep track of, even in the simplified and more linear TV version that such things are convenient short-hand ways of making the point. Same with characters engaging in "unnecessary" self-naming and exposition; without some of that stuff, a huge chunk of the audience (me included, probably) would be lost....

    Very possibly.
    They make choices based on what they want to show and what they feel they NEED to show to match up with later plots. Streamlining everything loses so much of the nuance from the books, the part I actually love the most in the books.


    It's still a fabulous TV series. If am critical of this scene or that, it is only in regards to the particular scene, not the entire series.


    However, because the "Dracarys" scene with Kraznys was so obvious (and repetitive) the final scene with Dany is not near my favorite for the episode honestly. So many scenes were just filled with subtlety like Jaime and Brienne, Tywin and Cersei, Varys and Tyrion and Varys with Olenna Redwyne too. Most of which rank higher to me since they are the types of scenes that will only improve after each viewing as more subtleties are noticed.

    Jaime's reputation is as much his own as his father's. He is one of the most dangerous men in the word, the best swordsman, and that has nothing to do with his father. Yet the series seems to play down his dealiness and play up his daddy issues.

    Last paragraph, you hit it right on the head. Exactly why I voted for the BWB vs. the Hound scene. Dany's plot was so obvious. Even if I hadn't read the books, it would've been. A lot more text and awesomeness to the Hound/BWB scene, IMHO.
