I'd go with 3 scenes. Shado and Slade sparring, Shado making Ollie feel like a fool by slapping water in a bowl, lastly probably Tommy going to his dad for a job.
I thought it was out of character for Oliver to doubt Tommy with regard to his moving drugs through the club. It made that whole segment not work for me.
I see your point. I think they emphasized the theme of the night was too much and this was part of it. Plus they seem to like making Oliver look like a jerk. Very odd.
I think they are on the right track to becoming a real partnership but I think what's holding them back is Oliver's trust issues. He still has issues accepting Diggle really has his back after being burned in the pasr in ways that we have yet to see in the flashbacks.
Almost everything in this episode made Oliver look like a jerk. To me the point was that Oliver is a hypocrite as people said over and over again in this episode.
Oliver spent five years in an island when he eventually had nobody by his side but himself. We see him with Shado and Slade now but whatever happened between them, I think they betrayed him in a way that turned him into the cold untrusty person he was when he returned.
I think he experienced a lot of pain we've yet to witness and because of it, I can only sympathize with him and don't think he is a hypocrite.
I should've voted for a scene with the Count, i love Seth and i hope he comes back at some point, but in the end i voted for'Oliver talks about people changing and going after Deadshot' I loved that scene! :)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Tommy was the all-around winner of the night for me. He raised every scene. I went with Tommy calling Oliver a hypocrite. Great acting.
ReplyDeleteI went with Shado/Slade sparring. There's not supposed to be a W on her name, btw.
ReplyDeleteSorry. It should be fixed now. I thought those two sparring was the best action sequence, very cool. I hope we get to see more of that.
ReplyDeleteWent with the sparring.
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree the acting was great. I couldn't go for these scenes on the basis that the seemed out of character to me.
ReplyDeleteI chose Oliver talking about people changing and agreeing to go after Deadshot.

ReplyDeleteOut of character for whom?

ReplyDeleteThat was the first truly awesome island scene in a long time for me.
ReplyDeleteI like how they ended with Oliver seeming to be on Diggle's side. I really want that to become a true partnership.
ReplyDeleteTommy asking his dad for a job was chilling for me. I so want Tommy to stay how he currently is even though it seems he is destined to become evil.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't make Oliver look like a jerk imo. The point was that Tommy had history with dealing drugs and Oliver suspected him due to that history.

ReplyDeleteGotta disagree with that as I don't think Oliver is a hypocrite.
