The title of the series finale has been revealed and is the hugely intriguing: The Name of the Doctor.
The ‘poster’ for the series’ final adventure (above) was unveiled today and it also confirms that Alex Kingston is back, joining Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman for what promises to be a jaw-dropping end to a spectacular series.
But we’re not there, yet! We’ve still to unravel the mystery of Clara – the woman ‘twice killed’ and yet still by the Doctor’s side… What secrets does she hold? And in the weeks ahead we’ve a trip to a haunted house, a journey to the centre of the TARDIS and a nightmare clash with the mighty Cybermen. But after all those adventures we have The Name of the Doctor and stand by for something that you might always have believed to be impossible…

IS THIS THE END OF THE ENTIRE SHOW?????
ReplyDeleteIn the UK, they refer to a season as a series, at least for Doctor Who. So this would be called the 7th series finale.
ReplyDeleteIn the article, it said for the series' final adventure, it makes it sound like its the end of it all.
ReplyDeletePlease let the impossible thing they're teasing be something a little more impossible than the return of the people from Pete's world. Yeah, the Doctor said it was impossible for them to get back, and yet Rose spent the entirety of Season 4 proving him wrong. I still say the impossible thing is a return to Gallifrey, but if this is the final adventure of 11, wouldn't that be a total rehash of The End of Time?
ReplyDeleteNope, in the UK a season is called a series as Aydrian says. The Xmas special and series 8 has been confirmed, the show is not ending :)
ReplyDeleteI have a very good idea what the impossible thing that is being teased is, it's to do with who John Hurt is playing in the 50th, it's someone that is already dividing the fans, but I think it's going to be great and *very* innovative!
ReplyDeleteEnd of Time was a decent Christmas special. It's not the impossible thing being talked about, but anyways....
ReplyDeleteI would be very upset if they basically undid the great dramatics of that special with it's return.
I've learned from Dr. Who... Don't judge until you've seen it. I hated the current (11th) Doctor for awhile till he grew on me (Matt Smith fungus? :O ) Wasn't a huge fan of the former Doctor right off either, though he mostly had me feeling ok with his character by the end of his first episode.
ReplyDeleteThe Name! I'm so SO very interested to learn why would anyone hide his name like this!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic year for Doctor Who!
Interesting...
ReplyDeleteAt 80, I doubt he's the 12th Doctor or something.
Like I said I think it will be great, but I obviously can't judge it until we see how it plays out, lol. I don't think I've disliked any of the Doctors to start with, though I have to admit that I went off both Colin and David, the former after a very short while and the latter for the last couple of seasons. Both of them are more due to the stories rather than them though, Trial of a Timelord is possibly my least favourite Who story ever closely followed by End of Time.
ReplyDeleteEarly spoiler for you...someone learns his name next week ;)
ReplyDeleteIndeed, it looks like Moff will be giving us a completely different kind of anniversary special to what has gone on in the past! This finale episode will lead into the special, and we may well be seeing one of the past incarnations in it too :D
ReplyDeleteYou! ;)
ReplyDeleteThis will be awesome, these past few seasons have been some of the best Doctor Who yet! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a good job we like you, you know :p
ReplyDeletePresuming that episode has the very small cast we think, either there's a surprise guest, Clara finds out (unlikely) or one of the salvage guys accidentally does.
Come to think of it, surely the Great Intelligence has to turn up again at some point? Someone feeding info to him?
Ah DW, you're fun to speculate over :D
Nice! Thanks! Next week's episode sounds even more fantastic;)
ReplyDeleteAs awesome as Hurt would be, I doubt we'll ever see an actor older than 40 play the Doctor again.
