WEDNESDAY, MAY 1
ARROW - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)

"The Undertaking" (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

WITH A LEAD ON WALTER'S WHEREABOUTS, OLIVER GAMBLES ON FELICITY IN THE FIELD - Finding it difficult to mend fences with Tommy (Colin Donnell) and Diggle (David Ramsey), Oliver (Stephen Amell) instead focuses on crossing another name off the list. While digging through a crooked accountant's laptop, Felicity (guest star Emily Bett Rickards) discovers a transaction that could help Oliver find Walter. To reconfirm the lead, Oliver gambles that Felicity can be counted on in the field for the first time. In a flashback, Malcolm (guest star John Barrowman) reveals to Robert Queen (guest star Jamey Sheridan) and Frank Chen (guest star Chin Han) painful details surrounding his wife's murder, and how that shaped his plans for the Glades. Meanwhile, Tommy (Colin Donnell) stuns Laurel (Katie Cassidy) with the truth. Willa Holland and Susanna Thompson also star. Michael Schultz directed the episode written by Jack Coburn & Lana Cho (#121)

I can't wait for the flashback and more info about how Malcolm became the Dark Archer.

  3. Holy hell. This is getting crazy.
    - Oliver is on the outs with Diggle as well as Tommy? That's not going to be good for Oliver's state of mind. Speaking of which...
    - Felicity in the field!? That's insane. Oliver is going to get her killed. Well, almost. She's going to be a regular character after all. :)
    - It's about damn time they found a lead on Walter's whereabouts.
    - Tommy, you keep your damn mouth shut about Oliver! :P

  4. Oooh I can't wait for Oliver and Felicity to work in the field together. I'm hoping she does well. Love them together and it'll be nice to see them "in action" instead of always behind a computer monitor. Sounds like an awesome episode! Can't wait.

  6. I read "mend fences with... Tommy and Diggle" and was thinking, aww Oliver and Diggle are at odds. But then I read Felicity in the field and I was thinking, yay!

  7. I hate the thought of Oliver and Diggle being at odds, and I guess Deadshot got away again. Oliver needs Diggle and Diggle is one of my favorite characters in this show, so I hope Diggle puts their differences aside and joins then to stop the Undertaking from fulfilling their plans regarding the Glades. I don't want to see Diggle becoming a bid bad next season.. I'd rather him stay on the Arrow's team.
I'm glad they finally found a lead on Walter. I guess the right computer arrived to Felicity's IT lab.

  8. It won't be the truth about Oliver being the Hood imo.. not like two seconds after Guggenheim was interviewed saying the show will be 'more protective' of Oliver's identity moving forward http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/GraphicCity/news/?a=77341

  9. I think Tommy will either tell Laurel she's still in love with Oliver (which would be kind of true since she has feeling for the Hood, she just doesn't know that he's Oliver) or tell her about his dad and his Dark Archer plans. It would make sense to have the flashback in an episode where Malcolm reveals his plans. I don't think he'll tell her about Oliver being Arrow though. That is a secret that I think for now he'll keep to himself.

  10. Apparently she dresses up again for her field operation. Whatever Oliver will ask her to do, I don't think he'll put her in too much danger.

  11. The Diggle fight will no doubt be about Oliver stopping Diggle from killing Deadshot (or failing to kill him, himself). I'm not looking forward to it.

Honestly, I haven't liked any interaction between Ollie and Diggle since Diggle found out. It's a bunch of self-righteous moralizing back-and-forth. It's not fun, or well written, or even well acted. The stuff with Slade on the island has been way better for that over the last five or six episodes. I was hoping Felicity would add a sense of humor to the Arrowcave, but it hasn't worked to diffuse the boring bullshit they have Oliver and Diggle arguing about half the time.

Looking forward to Oliver and Felicity in the field.

  12. Honestly, I don't think they're telling that story (Laurel having feelings for the hood) as much as they've dangerously brushed against that comic-book trope a few times. If anything they've had Cassidy play it as latent feelings for Oliver himself.

I don't think it will be relationship drama. This show has been good at avoiding it.

  13. I think that episode will delve into the relationship drama. That episode returns to Oliver and Laurel's relationship before the yacht and if you saw the Wondercon sizzle reel, it contains a scene where it looks like there's a real passion between them. I thought it was Sara and not Laurel at first because I'm not used to Laurel showing much emotion. I hope KC can act well in that episode and make Oliver and Laurel's relationship seem more believable.

  14. Deadshot has Diggle on his knees in the promotional pictures for episode 1.20. I'm guessing their fight will be about Oliver not having Diggle's back and running to help Laurel instead of be there to help him take out Deadshot.

I personally love Diggle and his and Oliver's interaction. I care more about their bromance than about Oliver and Slade's. I like Oliver and Slade's bromance too but not as much as Oliver and Diggle's.

    ReplyDelete
  15. There is no "bromance", and there hasn't been since December.

It's just "you need to do this Oliver!", "sometimes you have to do this Diggle!" type of overt, empty moralizing that this show should be avoiding, considering one of the best things about the adaptation is it's moral grey-zone. The fact that Stephen Amell can't pull off those scenes isn't helping.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I gotta have to disagree. First, Stephen Amell has convinced me in his acting and I think he can pull off those scenes. Second, what you call inconsistency is in my opinion growth. Diggle and Oliver didn't start off as friends, but as they learn to know each other, they do start to care more about each other and it impacts their decisions and leads to those moments that could then be seen as inconsistencies.

Also, Diggle is now as goal-focused with Deadshot as Oliver is with the list. He can no longer criticise Oliver as he did before because he too has changed.

  17. damn i wonder what secret then, probably something to do with his father

    ReplyDelete
  18. Meh. That would definitely confuse her but I wouldn't say stun. I don't see why he'd hide taking a job with his father anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  19. It'd make her wonder what's going on between him and Oliver and why he hasn't told her anything sooner.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Of course. That would be a normal reaction. She'd be concerned and she'd be curious.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm guessing Diggle will get a chance to kill Deadshot for revenge and Oliver will somehow self-righteously stop him because it's wrong, blah blah, hence the two of them falling out. Yawn.
It's about freaking time they remembered Walter. He's been gone since the end of episode 9 and most of the time, the characters are acting like nothing happened. Why isn't Moira, in particular, doing anything? She agreed to let Malcolm take him because he was digging into the conspiracy, but she's fine with them apparently holding her husband captive indefinitely? (And what HAVE they been doing with him all these months, anyway? Trying to give him a partial lobotomy to erase his memories of what he found?)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Malcolm promised to return Walter to her in six months after his plan for the Glades is accomplished when he took Walter. We did see Moira try to find info on Walter through Frank and failing, so now I guess what she's doibg is waiting for those 3 months to end.

They last mentioned Walter 3 episodes ago btw.
