Since we already know baby is the most important object in the universe, number 2 would have been the Amulet for me... but that brings up very bad memories... I don't really have a third place selection. After losing the amulet I try not to get attached, because it hurts when they are carelessly thrown away... *sniff*
Of the objects listed it has to be the colt, but really The Impala should ahev been on the list (it's an object, reight?) adn that would have had my vote.
I had a bit of dilemma between Dean's purgatory blade and salt, because salt is such a representative part of our show, and one of the most known phrases in our fandom is "Grab the motherfucking salt!".... but I decided for the Purgatory weapon, because I hope they'll start using it again. However, my favourite object is the Impala, but I guess it doesn't qualify as weapon... :)
Dean's killing blade is cool, but I haven't gotten to know it like I have some of these other weapons. It hasn't become an icon of SPN like many of the other items have. Maybe one day, if they develop the item's story and emotional value to the characters (and to me).
The colt, the angel/demon blades and shotguns are all great, but nothing says "Supernatural" to me like Salt. A salt line has most often times been the only barrier between life and death for the Winchesters. It's been used as both a protective talisman and offensive weapon. And although it has roots in folklore and literature, it's importance has been raised and given a unique place in the SPN 'verse.
We had this debate 2 years ago when we were doing favorite weapons, objects, and character polls. 70% said the Impala should be categorized as a character. Only 24% said it should be categorized as an object.
In 2011 we did similar polls with favorite weapons and favorite objects. We decided beforehand that the Impala would be a character not an object. The results of those polls were:
Impala character or object? Hmm! X Theoretically, as it's not a sentient being, it should be classed as an object ( except of course when Sam was Kitt :) ) but using a Tulpa as in Hell House, the Impala has been brought to life by the thoughts of so many people on-line! X
If the writers really want to go super- meta, ( the only one I would really love,) maybe they could make her sentient in an episode.
I can imagine her being very feisty, and can picture her complaining about all the Impala chats and chick flick moments that she has been witness to. :)
Then I wonder how she feels about all the times she has been smashed up and possessed? Like Dean, I hate the SPN version of witches but I would cheer one that put a spell on the Impala, temporarily giving her a voice! :) If the writers can do it with a cat and dog, why not with a car!
Then if it's weapons only, I have to go for the salt and holy water. They're the most traditional of them all and have been around from the very beginning.
They're also handy, especially the salt, which can even be found in prison and in mental asylums! :) Agreed about the Amulet. Lassie come home!!
By the way, nothing to do with this thread but we got the first two episodes of Arrow one after the other on our local tv here and it was a great success; the viewer numbers for the second episode going up from the first, denoting the growing interest from the earlier ep. X I have to say I really enjoyed it too. X I just want to say that usually this kind of show doen't usually get a great welcome unless it's in the teen time hours, but this was on at 9 PM. X Perhaps the only sort of fantasy show that did so well was Lost or The X-files.
I'm really happy for the CW. :) X I read that Amell tweeted too, saying how happy he was for the great reception from Italian fans.
I did this quite a while ago before it got uploaded, so let me explain without people biting my head off. Crikey! In my mind I thought weapons were guns and knives. Mystical objects were salt and a hexbag. Ultimately they are all weapons but not just something you can stab someone with. Does this makes sense. I thought people might get technical with this, but it ended up being the title instead haha. Gives me an idea with a next poll. Maybe the ultimate item (or whatever people say) between the impala and an amulet?.
For technical reasons I said objects meaning demonic (or whatever) objects that can be used. This title kinda funny when I think about it now. It wouldn't make sense for the impala and amulet to be on a weapon list, yes?.
I respectfully disagree. Baby was part of the flashbacks which I am assuming you are talking about s5 finale, helped?-mechanically yes, but strategically in my thinking it is not technically a weapon, and there could of been other ways to that scenario. However, in my opinion it is more of a guide, just like the amulet in different ways.
The Impala could have been on a weapon's list..YES. She has been used as a weapon to get Sam to take control of Lucifer, along with help from Dean of course. When object is used without Baby that threw me and I did not vote. ;)
OH sorry, I answered the other comment before I read this one, but yes the flashbacks were what I was talking about and without those and Dean's beating, Sam would not have gotten control back. It made him see humanity again.
This is quite a strong opinion and I see your point. But I disagree with the car being an weapon. Poor thing, got caught up with the debate :) It was technically when Sam glanced in the car that what helped, not the car itself. Really, there could of been many scenarios to that situation, and she wasn't planned to be a weapon.
At the end of the day it was a poll showing how great the show was, for some you rather just criticize even though it is the obvious. Miscommunication, who cares?!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Where THE HELL is Metallicar?
ReplyDeleteColt!
ReplyDeleteThis should have been a no brainer...Baby is the most important object in the show and I am not voting for anything else...67 Impala (Metallicar)
ReplyDeleteTch, tch! You missed the most importand object that demonstrates the brothers bond; the giving and taking of the Amulet
ReplyDeleteI like to think the Impala is missing because it's more of a character than an object.
ReplyDeleteSince we already know baby is the most important object in the universe, number 2 would have been the Amulet for me... but that brings up very bad memories... I don't really have a third place selection. After losing the amulet I try not to get attached, because it hurts when they are carelessly thrown away... *sniff*
ReplyDeleteDon't despair; I'm sure Sam fished it out of the trash and has it hidden away somewhere ready to give it back to his big brother. :)
ReplyDeleteAfter all it was an object that couyld indicate the vicinity of God.
Maybe we'll get a surprise amulet come-back in the future. I so would love that. :)
Didn't Chuck call it an object?
ReplyDeleteI also think Sam would have taken it out of the trash and would love to see it come back. I wear mine everyday. ;)
ReplyDeletelol. Are you as cute as Dean! :) Only joking :)
ReplyDeleteHa, not unless Dean is an old 74 female. lol
ReplyDeleteI really like demon/angel killing blades.
ReplyDeleteOf the objects listed it has to be the colt, but really The Impala should ahev been on the list (it's an object, reight?) adn that would have had my vote.

ReplyDeleteThat is not a phrase that has been used in Supernatural.. And I would think Baby is a weapon, she along with Dean, helped Sam gain control of Luci
ReplyDeleteDean's killing blade is cool, but I haven't gotten to know it like I have some of these other weapons. It hasn't become an icon of SPN like many of the other items have. Maybe one day, if they develop the item's story and emotional value to the characters (and to me).

My vote goes to salt.
The Colt- the original special object- followed by Dean's Purgatory Blade.
ReplyDeleteThe Colt - the original special weapon - followed by Dean's blade in Purgatory and the Knife they got from Ruby.
ReplyDeleteShould have just entitled this "Your Favorite Weapon" because as soon as fans see "Object" they think of the Impala or amulet, not a weapon.
I think this was intended just to be a weapon list as only weapons were put in the poll.
ReplyDeleteThor's hammer.
ReplyDeleteColt.
ReplyDeleteWe had this debate 2 years ago when we were doing favorite weapons, objects, and character polls. 70% said the Impala should be categorized as a character. Only 24% said it should be categorized as an object.
ReplyDeleteNo Impala?
ReplyDeleteIn 2011 we did similar polls with favorite weapons and favorite objects. We decided beforehand that the Impala would be a character not an object. The results of those polls were:
ReplyDeleteObject - Dean's amulet (56%), Colt (12%), Sam's hair (9%), Ruby's knife (7%), John's journal (6%)
Weapon - Colt (21%), Impala (17%), Sam's Hand of Ipecac (13%), Dean's snark (10%), Ruby's knife (8%), Shotguns (8%), Angel sword (7%), Microwave (4%), Salt (3%), Wood chipper (3%).
In this poll I chose Dean's Purgatory weapon since it is really cool.
So I don't have to pull out that ep again...didn't Chuck call her an object?
ReplyDeleteI did not. The amulet is not a wand, I still want it back though.
ReplyDeleteThis is for fighting reasons.
ReplyDeleteHope that you guys enjoyed it. My title may needed rephrasing, it is for hunting reasons.
ReplyDeleteYes :)
ReplyDeleteImpala character or object? Hmm!

Yeah that was cool. :D
ReplyDeleteMine aren't on here. You have weapons but no objects. Where's Baby? The Impala is the most important object on Supernatural...ever
ReplyDeleteYes he did. I think she is too important to have mere object standing though.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I would feel about an episode with the Impala talking, but I have read some very interesting fan fics on the subject.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that Arrow is doing so well. It is one of my favorite new shows and one of the few shows I will continue to watch next year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for creating the poll. It's always good to have something to have something to discuss during haitus.
ReplyDeleteYour welcome.
