Season 7 for me. I was completely into the story line and loved how tragic it felt. Tony's last scene was extremely powerful, about how Jack had become the enemy by simply standing by (later the role played by President Taylor). Very interesting thematically for the show. Season 5 was the most exciting, while season 3 had the best cast and very good plot twists. Season 8 was a little repetitive, but the second half is absolutely wonderful. Seasons 1 and 2 were slightly dull, with little rewatch value imo (still amazing television; I just don't wanna watch them 100 times lol), and season 6 was too over-the-top. Amazing show. My all-time favourite :D
Tough to choose between S1 and S5... S1 was just so fresh with the concept and the twist at the end that you didn't see coming? wow S5 and the twist and flip of the Pres...... very tough
This is too hard. Can I pick 3 seasons? Torn between Day 3, 4 and 5. They are the ones that when I'm bored I think, "OK, I'll watch Day 3/4/5 (it varies)". Day 3 I loved the storyline. It was consistent, with the same storyline the whole way through. Some of the script quotes were awesome too. And I loved Paul Blackthorne as Stephen Saunders. I thought PB played him amazingly. Day 4 was very good. I loved the return of Tony, and Michelle. I think that Marwan was well written, and very well acted by Arnold Vooslo. Audrey was brilliant too. And Jack was very good in this season. He (mostly) acted within CTU rules and it was great. Plus I loved episodes 5pm-8pm and 2-3am. However, I'm gonna have to go with Day 5. I loved the storyline and the characters. I also loved how you could never tell where things were going (well, I've watched it about 50 times, so I can basically memorise the whole season). The attack on CTU was brilliantly done, and incredibly emotional. I come close to tears every time that Edgar dies, Lynn dies and Tony 'dies'. Every episode was as good as the previous one, if not better.
In order, I'd go D5, D3, D4, D6, D8, D1, D2, D7. 3, 4 and 5 very close together.
Day 7 was the worst (per say, I think they were all great). It was dramatic, but the storyline bugged me. And I hated the fact that Tony was a bad guy. Couldn't get to grips with it, and I hated the way he was written for Day 7. I'd have prefered he stay dead. Also, I didn't like the fact that there was no CTU in this one.
The whole show was awesome if I'm honest. BRING IT BACK
Easily Season 5. As much as I hated that *****, ****, and ******** died right off the bat, Jack's quest to find justice and the twist at the end of the season were phenomenal. Very solid season through and through.
For me the seasons would go like this: 5 > 7 > 8 > 2 > 1 > 3 > 4
I love 24, one of my favorite shows ever, so if I start delving into why I love X season I won't be able to stop, so I'll just limit myself to a single line ^^.
1/ Season 1 : the whole concept (split screen / real time) felt fresh and S. Hopkins' directing has a thing. 2/ Season 2 : brilliant political story (on the heels of the invasion of Iraq), definitely the darkest season. 3/ Season 3 : episodes 3.14 to 3.24 are just perfect. 4/ Season 5 : what a thrill, with another brilliant political story (with the Republican POTUS as a 'terrorist'). 5/ Season 7 : uneven, but in the end the whole Tony thing sort of made sense, improved over season 6. 6/ Season 8 : much like season 3, episodes 8.15 to 8.24 are much better than the first half. Great ending. 7/ Season 4 : The middle of the season (4.07 to 4.15) was rather weak, but still a good season overall. 8/ Season 6 : the first 4 episodes are brilliant, ep 6.17 + the second half of 6.24 are fantastic. The rest...
In the end, I'd say all the seasons are good (minus season 6 perhaps, although for Kiefer Sutherland it was one of his strongest given Jack's situation) and seasons 1-3 are the crème de la crème, followed by the excellent fifth season. The last two seasons definitely showed that 24 went out on a good note.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Season 5 FTW!!!
ReplyDeletei enjoyed them all, but 5 was the tops hands down
ReplyDeleteThis is a hard question, I liked most of them. With the exception being season 1. Hmm, voted season 5 in the end. Season 7 comes close though.
ReplyDeleteSeason 2 > Season 1 > Season 5 > Season 3
