  1. I like how they are putting up the sneak peeks sooner and I hope they can save Bobby, I wonder if he'll make an appearance.

  2. Holy awesomeness!!!!!!!!!!!And this makes it even more official.BOBBY'S BAAAACK.Freakin Crowley.I want him dead by the end of the season.

  3. Yeah me too!I wonder why we're the only show that gets one sneak peek though...We used to get 2 sneak peeks and most of the cw shows still do.

  4. You would think Dean would be more freaked out about Sam going into Hell, but of course he has better brothers now to get all emotional and worried about!

That's the new mature, less brotherly- bonded Winchesters coming to the fore.
Of course, both boys couldn't have gone together into Hell. That would have been too logical. We have to separate them in every episode!

    X

Then much as I liked Bobby, I don't want to see him come back.

They should never have killed him off in the first place but since they have, just leave him alone.

    X

It's good that they're worried about Bobby being in Hell, not so much about their Mom and Dad and even poor forgotten Adam.

While I'm no fan of the third brother, it would be nice to have closure, and anyway, I would think he was a far more innocent soul than Bobby could ever be.

  5. i loved bobby, but i dont wanna see him back. send him to heaven and let him be. the boys have moved on. we need other characters.

  6. The show has separated Sam and Dean for key dramatic moments from very early on - the one I remember most clearly in those early days was "The Benders," an awesome episode. I doubt this will be awesome, but it's good drama to have some separation.

If the promo is any indication, Dean is worried.

I don't think John or Mary are in Hell (?) so I'm not sure why Sam and Dean would think they were.

  7. The Benders was an awesome episode but the brothers were separated because Sam was kidnapped. Both brothers had their story line however, and the one's story wasn't sacrificed for the other's.

In those days, both brothers were equal protagonists in the episodes.

In this season especially though, with the introduction of so many guest stars, there is no room any more to give the brothers equal time or so it seems, and the writers seem to prefer giving any extra time to Dean.

One has just to accept that the show has changed completely. Some are happy with that and others like myself are not.
No one can deny that Supernatural is no longer about the Winchester brothers. Sure they appear in each episode but they always end up taking a back seat to the guest stars or are used as backing to tell the story of those characters. The current ep is just one of many examples.

In this episode unlike the Benders, there is no reason that Dean can't go into Hell with his brother, the taxi guy was ready to take them both. Once Dean wouldn't have let Sam go alone.

Then both brothers should have shown more emotion IMO. because each has suffered in Hell and a little bit of fear might have been more realistic. If I'm not mistaken, neither brother has ever been back down since there own stint in hell.
    X

As for Dean being worried, yeah but it just doesn't come over as it once did.

    X
Regarding John and Mary, Ash told the brothers that he had searched Heaven but hadn't found them, so they could be aywhere, even Hell.

  8. Yay, I can't wait for this! Hope Sam's able to save Bobby.

  9. He also said he didn't know where Ellen and Jo were. While I'd watch a story where Dean and Sam looked for the souls of their dead loved ones, I feel like the show did that as an out in case they ever wanted to bring anyone back.

Dean may have to look out for Kevin. But I agree with you, I wouldn't have been sorry to see them go together.

I don't really think Sam and Dean work as well together in emotional scenes now, mostly because they've had so many over the years.

I think some episodes lose all focus and don't show enough of Sam and Dean, like the dog sex episode, or the episode with Zeus. The Krissy episode I didn't mind as much because I felt like she was a big reminder for Sam and Dean of what they were at her age.

  10. Dean *was* clearly worried about Sam going to Hell all alone, which is why he wanted to go with him. Sam REFUSED Dean's help, so there is nothing more Dean can do.

    ReplyDelete
  11. So... in Swan Song, Sam sacrifices himself to save the world... while Dean can only sit and watch. And now, Sam sacrifices himself to save Bobby from Hell... while Dean can only sit and watch. Really, show?

i know it gets me mad seeing like 3 or 4 sneak peeks of The Carrie Diaries and only one of this

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah, sometimes even 3 sneaks. It was rare, but it happened occasionally back in Season 4 I think.

  14. Really can't win with this fandom. Either Dean doesn't get enough story or Sam doesn't to them. I wouldn't be surprised if the writers are just ignoring us by now. lol They know we talk but we always come back.

  15. Dean ended up in Purgatory while killing Dick, there's his sacrifice. They've always taken turns. Just because it's Sam's turn to save the day doesn't mean that's all that happens.

Next year, when they'll likely deal with the angel tablet, I'm sure Dean will be dealing with that more than Sam.

Now, I wish they'd do things more together, but that's how it has worked out over the years.

  16. I just remembered who wrote this, because the dialogue is so lame here. It's regurgitating every lame disagreement. I'm also worried for some really lame reconning. Suddenly it's so easy to visit hell & get out free, like a scene out of "Scrooge?"

  17. I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE BOBBY AGAIN! I know some people are saying he shouldn't come back...but hey, look at how many times Castiel has come back. I say bring him on back! Anyway, it's no guarantee he'll stick around. Probably not, if it is him and Sam gets him out, maybe he'll move straight on. I'M JUST SO EXCITED TO SEE HIM AGAIN! Love Bobby to bits.

  18. have the promotional stills for this episode been released yet? 'Cause I haven't seen them.

  19. No killing Dick wasn't a "sacrifice", it was an unintended consequence which Dean knew nothing about when he killed Dick. It does not have the same emotional weight in the story as an actual sacrifice.

And I have yet to see a single spoiler that indicates it will be Dean who does trials or deals with the Angel Tablet. And I doubt the writers will deal with the Heaven trials (IF there are any) the same way they did the Hell trials anyway.

It's quite clear (to me!) that the show wants to maintain the status quo of Sam as the active hero/martyr and Dean as his supportive sidekick. Sam has to do something dangerous in order to "save the world", while Dean wrings his hands and worries. It's been that way from the beginning. I'm not sure why I expect anything different. Oh well.

You know I usually agree with you, but not this time, especially about Dean not being worried about Sam or considering others "better brothers". I know he said that when he was possessed, but let's consider his actions towards Sam since then. He gave up Benny, wanted to do the trials so Sam could be safe, he's always asking how Sam is doing, keeping an eye on him, praying (begging) for him, offering to "carry" him... I don't know what else Dean can do to show how much he cares for Sam. He didn't do any of those things to either "better brothers".

Sure, I would LOVE if they were both going to Hell, I hate them apart too, but Sam refused. And from the trailer, it was a good call because he's going to get stuck. If Dean was with him, who was going to help him then? (The scene that Dean asks Benny to help his "little brother" made me cry.

I don't think Mary or John are in Hell. John got out... If he was in hell, the demons would use him against Dean when he was there or vice-verse. Same with Mary, but she vanished and was never heard of again. I believe that they left it open just in case they want/need to bring them back.

I agree that Adam doesn't deserve to be in the Cage, but the key word here is "Cage". They can't save him from there unless Death change his mind.... And I don't think he will.

  21. This season is just such a mix-up in every way and that incudes the emotions and actions of the brothers too.

Yes, Dean cut off his relationship with Benny to be with Sam but Sam also decided to leave Amelia to stay with Dean.

Dean wanted to do the trials to save Sam but Sam also wanted to do the trials to save Dean, so these things sort of even each other out.
    X

As for Dean worrying about Sam, I suppose he says the words but nothing of the brother caring on either side really convinces me this season; not like past seasons anyway.
Those first ten episodes are hard to forget, especially without an explanation.

    X

While it's commendable that Dean goes around asking all his friends for help saving Sam, I would much rather it was he himself who cooked up a plan to save his brother.

Once he wouldn't have needed to beg others to do so..

  22. Bobby's back! *-*

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah, but don't forget, Hell's had a bit of re-modelling done. It's not all fire and brimstone anymore with souls mounted on racks (which, I suspect, was part of the problem in trying to escape). Maybe moving things round and redesigning a construct of torture that's been in place since Lucifer fell, has loosened some pieces and made everything less stable.

On the other hand, we might be delving into ret-con territory again.

  24. I'm never going to see Adam again, am I?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sad for Bobby being in hell, sad for having hope they would try to get Adam out...

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's not that Dean wanted to go because he wanted to help Sam. He wanted to go because he didn't believe Sam could handle it. Dean hasn't missed an opportunity to denigrate Sam this season. It's mean and not at all like the good-natured kidding from earlier seasons, but instead, a symptom of the broken bond.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, but who gets to be besties with all of the guest stars? Even trade.

    Excited.
I'm not surprised of Bobby's return but him being in hell was. Crowley seem to get more and more powerful, he came a long way.
I would like for Sam to successfully do this, showing his greatness of a hunter. I want story-lines for Dean equally, but I would like Sam to show his POV, he can complete all trials. I would think he knows hell very well, maybe he'll bump into Lucifer? ;)
Naomi and Benny will be very interesting interacting with Dean. I look forward to that and everything overall.

I think Dean was a little shocked and there was really no other way.
I think Bobby's appearance was a smart move. Whether he comes back or not I'm not fussed, but of course I want him back he's been there ever since.
I would also like to see Adam, just a small possibility that we may see him in this episode?. I think that we will get some info eventually otherwise we know that he's still in hell.

Agree, Dean is a great brother he showed he was scared for Sam. It is very logical for one to be on earth the other doing the job in a not so sunny place :)

But at least we talk about our show :)

  32. Dean sacrificed himself for Sam at the end of season 2 and was brought to Hell in season 3. Did you not watch seasons 2-4?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I believe they won´t save Bobby, although I reaaaally want them to. But in promo it was said that " innocent soul must be saved" so they might show us Bobby only to make us feel much much more miserable when the boys will be put in front of some kind of moral dilema. their almost father or someone very innocent? ...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes Dean has sacrificed himself for SAM. Not the same thing - narratively speaking - as being the hero who sacrifices himself to save the WORLD, i.e. Sam in Swan Song. Dean should be allowed to be the hero who may have to sacrifice his own life to save the world. Because then and only then would Dean matter in terms of the show's mytharc.

As it stands, Dean only matters for what he can do for Sam. And that is especially the case right now, with ONLY Sam doing the trials, while Dean's role is just to worry about Sam. And that's not an equally heroic role in terms of our mytharc, IMO.

Exactly... If it was so easy, Sam could have saved Dean himself. God, how I wish they had chosen this route. (Jared, too. He said one that it was supposed to be like that. It would have been so awesome, IMO)

Oh yeah, it's been a two way street regarding to them caring and I love it! I didn't meant my post to sound like Dean was the only one caring for Sam, so I'm sorry if it sounded that way, I was just pointing out what for me showed that Dean does care and a lot.

I too wish Dean to be the one to save Sammy. But, above of all, I hope Sam's love for Dean will be enough to make him strong enough to complete the all the trials.

I agree about the 10 first episodes. I didn't forget it either, nor forgave Carver for what he did, especially Sam not looking for Dean, which wasn't even addressed anymore since episode 6. But those episodes made me so starved for the brotherly love that I'm accepting what the writers are willing to give me regarding to that. Heh, maybe THIS was their plan. And sadly, I have to confess that it worked for me. *Ashamed*. I am, however, trying to show the writers that we, brotherly love fans, still exist and love the brothers scenes.
