Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) respond to a call from Kevin (guest star Osric Chau), who is terrified after hearing Crowley’s (guest star Mark Sheppard) voice in his head. After hearing Kevin’s news, Sam and Dean team up with reaper named Ajay (guest star Assaf Cohen), who helps them deal with the second trial from the Tablet. Meanwhile, Dean receives a visit from Naomi (guest star Amanda Tapping) and realizes he must find Benny (guest star Ty Olsson) and ask for a huge favor. I know it now, Benny said someone told him about the portal out of purgatory, that should be Naomi. The angels are trying to get dean and cas out of purgatory through benny, but cas chose to stay behind so naomi had to save him herself.
I guess dean has to kill benny to get the blood of a purgatory inhabitant for some spell, it's a good way to tie up this loose end. I just dun know how naomi is related to it.

ReplyDeleteI could be wrong, but Dean will interact with Castiel in 8x17, probably with Krissy way more than Sam in 8x18 and now Naomi and Benny in 8x19, and probably be involved in the second trial too. And don't forget Charlie in 8x20, which will probably show a strengthening of the ties created in the previous episode "LARP and the real girl".
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a Dean vs Sam thing, but I really think that Sam should interact with others caracters besides Dean. The writers have a goldmine in terms of explorating Sam, and they really should go for it. It would make the story more enjoyable, at least for me.

Benny back is not a surprise but Noami is sort of surprising right at this moment and I wonder if she threatened Dean or she might be good somewhat-a little Crowley-ish maybe?.

Where's death?. I don't know why we have a new reaper, but this one sounds good enough. I think by this time Sam would've shown his sickness, so I hope he pulls it off. I do think so, but afterwards he may be sicker. I hope we actually know what exactly wrong with him soon and a cure.

ReplyDeleteI don't think that Dean kills Benny from what Jensen said in Vegas that they had an emotional scene. But Ty said he would come back to Supernatural even if Bolaris gets picked up. So I don't think Benny is dead. I think that slip that Benny said in Purgatory about 'they' told him the way out is that he got help to get Dean out. JMO

There's no telling if it will be Sam in Purgatory for the second trial, or Dean and Benny having to go back for whatever reason, depending on what Naomi tells Dean. Maybe Dean will ask to kill Benny, in order to provide a path or something. That would count as a pretty huge favor :P

ReplyDeleteI think that "kick" was from being too close to a Leviathan exploding and going to Purgatory so I don't see how killing a normal vampire would do this.
ReplyDeleteIntrigued as to what the trial will be, I know they were filming in the woods for some of this episode and there's been a spoiler floating around about Sam in Purgatory I wonder if Naomi tells Dean that something they need/the trial involves going to or getting something from Purgatory so Dean goes to Benny to get either him or Sam (really should be Sam) in.
ReplyDeleteI do think Benny will end up back in Purgatory by the end of the episode and he wont be coming back by his own choice.
The reaper thing is interesting it does suggest that someone has to die (probably Sam) to carry out the trial?
Also is Naomi helping them complete the trials? makes sense she would want to close the gates to hell but I wonder if they'll know she's pulling Cas's strings by then?
Crowley's voice in Kev's head? I dont think I would be able to stand that much snark going on in my own mind. Poor Kevin dont think he's going to make it past this season.
They needed the AlphaVamps blood to create the weapon that could kill the head Leviathan (Roman Dick) and not to open a gate to Purgatory.
ReplyDeleteIn order to open a gate to Purgatory the needed the Purgatory ''prayer words'' or whatever they call it and the blood from a Purgatory creature (in this case Benny) but this doesn't precisely mean they have to kill Benny.

ReplyDeleteIf I had to take a wild guess, the "third" trial is on Crowley's half of the tablet.There would be minimal dramatic point in breaking the tablet in 8.10 if all three trials to close Hell were on "Kevin's half" and Crowley would be so gung-ho on translating "his" half (ref to what Cas told the boys in the 8.17 sneak peak). And we don't know (at least I think we don't) for absolute certain if there's an order the trials need to be completed in. IIRC Kevin said the had only translated one of the trials in 8.14 - for all (I think) we know, Trial #1 is on Crowley's "half". I don't expect that Hell will be closed by Season's finale - demons and hell have been big part of Supernatural since the Pilot.

ReplyDeleteThe first trial was test of physical strength...I'm betting the second trial will be a test of knowledge and intelligence...Sam's been pouring over the MOL books for weeks and weeks...I bet they'll be something in there that can help him pass this trial.
Poor Sam, his body is gonna be breaking down even more after completing this one, he's gonna be a weakened ill bloody mess by the time they get to the third one. He's gonna need to be leaning on Dean alot, physically and emotionally, I'm glad that Dean is such a pillar of strength, Sam's gonna need every bit of strength he can find.
Speaking of reapers...Why are we getting a new reaper? Why can't we have Tessa come back, I actually really liked her.
Also I'm thinking that whatever Naomi wants Dean to get from Benny, is the reason how Benny knew the way out of Purgatory. Maybe the angels told him how to get out, maybe the angels are the "THEY" Benny talked about - told him where the portal was, that he needed Dean, what to do to get transported safety out using Dean, etc. And now that he's out, they can reap from him whatever they needed to get, his soul perhaps?
Clearly Dean was supposed to find Cas and Cas was supposed to get out with Dean too but since Cas didn't, Naomi had to send her angels in and drag him out.
SO Naomi comes down out of her Office Cubicle of Doom to talk to Dean, it must be something extremely BIG and serious - I wonder if during their conversations, Naomi and Dean will discuss Castiel and Dean will find out about she's behind his mind-control.
I suspect that Meg dies in 8.17.

I find it funny no one ever commented on that after that ep, Sam saved everyone without an ounce of violence, only TALKING. Pretty effing awesome, if you ask me. But no one does, so ...
