  1. Good first 55 minutes, AWESOME in the last 5. HR is now in it to win it.

  2. The first scene: Leon once again! You'd think he'd learn, but then again, he knows if anyone tries to kill him his number will show up and he'll be saved. I loved Reese's line "Next time I'll be on vacation". lol

Also found the part where Reese "questions" the 3 guys for a second round. "Come on, man!" XD

    Great episode as usual.

Those last scenes with Finch and him missing Grace. :(

HR is really stepping things up.

Between HR and Root and the problems with the machine I imagine the final episodes of Season 2 are going to be crazy.

  3. The end was crazy! HR is taking no prisoners!

  4. Very good episode, with the rather treacly "my wife died of cancer and I don't want to die a loser" stuff pretty well offset by some dandy sudden violence and some quite funny moments--like when Reese decides to do some more digging about Lou's past. The show really is made by the intense, subtle acting work performed by Jim Cavaziel and Michael Emerson, though; those two have great chemistry and are a joy to watch.

Gotta love the heating up of the return of HR. Quinn finally getting down and dirty, Szymanski getting framed and murdered, Terney though a obvious HR loyalist finally being revealed, and of course Beecher still up in the air.

Man om I love this show!

  8. Loved it. Good to see Leon again and nice to see Bear get in on the action! Good cotw plot and nice setting up at the end with HR getting back in the mix of things...

  9. Yay, So Perfect.

  10. I am pretty shocked, my guess Szymanski is wearing a vest.
Wow, It was really interesting, the last scene was another fantastic twist.
    POI is Rocking.

  11. I loved how they took down a crooked Casino boss!

  12. The opening was hilarious with Leon and Bear. Bringing Leon back is one of the best decisions this show made, I've liked Ken Leung since Lost and he is perfect as Leon here. The episode/case was pretty good too.

Glad we got some movement on HR since we haven't heard from them in awhile. Poor Harold at the end, he'll be with Grace just from afar. I do hope she gets to find out Finch is alive at some point. I'm still guessing Root will use Grace against Finch at some point.

  13. Very possible.

  14. This episode was sooo good! So much to love. :D The opening with Leon, Finch playing cards with Lou, ''the woman with the fondness for tanning oil'', Finch and Lou's talk in the car and at the end about Grace, the whole ''distraction'' scene with that awesome soundtrack, everyone getting caught, the side plot with HR...

Best part was when the Machine went nuts trying to figure out how Lou was winning the game! I love that subtle humor. Gives the Machine some more ''character''.

  15. Yup, me too. Two of them very close together! I also noticed that there seemed to be a new, smoother zoom-in technique going on during the transitions, but maybe that's just me. :p I loved the bit where the Machine was trying to figure out what Lou's technique was!

  16. I thought that it was going to be mediocre..............then I started to really like it more toward the end.......right after the old man put Finch's car keys in the aquarium, from then on. Darn, that H.R. head was brutal. They are not messing around! They want the Russians' money to fund HR!! But, I don't get how the H.R. head is going to get away with saying that those were random shootings (the very final scene)-it's so obvious that those shots to the two people were fired from close range, CSI people will be able to figure out they came from his direction! But I know it's just a TV show, and POI has lots of technical discrepancies that we "forgive," in order to enjoy good drama.

  17. I noted too, great Jim you're on the same page here.

  18. Awesome episode the storyline of Quinn and HR are the best part for me, the last scene was very good. The other plot I like too, the scenes between Finch and Lou are great, the scenes in the casino are fun too. Leon is always great, Reese was more badass this one.

    Bear saving the day cool.

Plus: The last scene between Finch and Reese, talk about Grace, great scene.

  19. This episode didn't really grab me. I loved the opening. But the POI, while a great character, was a story that I just never cared about. The HR stuff was really interesting and pretty much the only time I perked up. Loved Fusco's advice to Carter. ONly an OK for me this week.

  20. They could be shot from close range after the gunman "neutralized" Quinn. But just as you said, PoI by it's nature isn't a CSI-like show anyhow, so it probably won't even come up.

  21. - Gallows humor? Checked.

    - Subtle, underplayed emotions? Checked. (As it is said, the audience should cry, not the actors.)

    - Bear cuteness? Checked.

    - Good twist in the original case? Checked.

    - Sucker punch cliffhanger at the end of a "business as usual" episode? Checked.

This show is hands down the best written and most thoughtfully built CotW procedural now on any network. And I'm saying this while - unlike with some other shows I watch - I'm not a clear cut fan of any of its actors, I mean I wouldn't watch another show just because they are in. Good dialogues, good characterisation and excellent storytelling.

Showrunners with the idea that writing only the premiere and the finale plus one-two other episodes as "keys" and then just fill the gaps with any c**p they find in the wastebasket in the writers' room should go take some courses from Nolan.

  22. Nope he is dead, Quinn and the attoney make sure I think.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh, yeah, that's right. It could be plausible. But you're right, it
probably won't even come up. I can't wait until the next episode.

  24. If Szymanski survived by wearing a vest, I would be shocked. But, people keep magically coming back from the dead on this show i.e. people who were supposed to be blown up appear later on, etc. So, you never know.

  25. I confess I only chose to start watching this because of Michael Emerson. And I'm glad I did. Easily one of the best shows on television.

  26. Great episode. I've never actually been that big a fan of the HR stuff. I can't even remember when it was first introduced, they just kind of started referring to it one day (maybe I missed an important episode). One thing consistent with the HR episodes though, is Fusco's involvement with them. Until today that is... how was he still so underused in an episode that focused on what is supposed to his storyline? Either they've got something massive planned for Fusco soon, or he's on his way out. Probably both :(

  27. This one was just "great" for me, I highly enjoyed Leon and hope he continues to appear more frequently. Louis was surely entertaining, but I thought the general plot was just ok, but the HR scenes, especially at the end made it great!

I'm also really missing Fusco. He's been written so low-keyed these past few episodes and I hope it doesn't mean anything...

    ReplyDelete
  28. "I do hope she gets to find out Finch is alive at some point. I'm still guessing Root will use Grace against Finch at some point.

Totally what I'm thinking for the last two episodes of the season!

    ReplyDelete
  29. It was a good episode for me and it brought back HR into the story line at last, I have to say that Leon has to be the all time "scene stealer" on this show! Getting to see Ken L. in action again is always fun. He was an excellent choice for another guest actor for POI.

The whole COTW with the bad guy using old people as pawns was just okay for me. I did love how our main guy came back and cleaned the tables though! I guess my main interest was in the HR action and whether or not Carter's new guy is really a bad guy for sure. I think she was ready to accept him at last after last week but now that Fusco warned her, she's not certain.

I think Fusco will be on the show but tptb are trying to give Carter's character more air time with her story line. We kind of know some things already about Fusco so I'm not worried about him. Of course, he still is in trouble with the HR stuff but that will probably put him back in the spot light again.

Been a great season so far and can't wait to see how all this wraps up in the end!

  30. I think your opinion is right more sense because justified why they show us a lot of backstory of Finch with Grace this season.
