First off really 2 ppl voted awful- do yall even watch the episode?
Onto more important things- this episode was awesome and maddening at the same time!
Its beyond crazy that this idea is so prevalent that SVU had the opportunity to expose it. That dude was the biggest douche known to man and repeatedly rapped her even after the attack. I appreciate that they made it so the victim kept fighting for justice despite the results of the criminal charge. I so loved when the AD ripped that so called expert a new one- but u knew he got his hooks into that one old bitty juror w/ the cross around her neck. Its absurd that fools actually believe this idea to be true.
I must say i did have one issue, i knew it wasnt going to happen but i would have loved it if Liv connected w/ the mother by telling her story. maybe the mother would not have left. But i must say i dont blame her for dipping out.
Lauren Cohan was wonderful. Very well done show that, to me anyway, highlighted just how ridiculous that "legitimate rape" statement was. I voted awesome, yet I have a big issue with religious people always being the baddies. As soon as I saw that giant cross hanging around that woman's neck, I expected the writers would show her as gullible. They didn't disappoint.
Yes. I know there are narrow-minded people on juries and they shouldn't have been chosen. It's the heavy-handedness of the image that bothers me. It's out and out stereotyping to hang a giant cross around a character's neck. It's like the director is shouting to the audience, "Watch out! She's Christian!" Not necessary. I wish they had simply removed that article of jewelry and left to our imagination what the woman's belief system might be. By the way, few people, Christian or not, fell for Akin's silly "legitimate rape" comment.
again it's just a tv show, you're looking too much into things. It's done to hurt or bother anyone. Plus you do realize it's a tactic that a lot of them use, sway the jury to believe them. They will do and saw anything to sway even on juror. It happens, the woman who wore that cross might not even be a christian, she could have been catholic, bapist or another form of Christianity. You don't know, the cross was done to show that one person's believes can in fact draw that person to sway towards what they believe in which is not always a good thing. In this case, the fruad doctor pursauded her into believe his lies. which they were. But b/c of what he said, she ended up making a very bad choice. The man who raped Avery, was guility. Everyone knew that, and knew except for her that the doctor/congressman was a liar and nothing but a fruad.
It's not a show that I regularly watch. In fact, I was only surfing when Lauren Cohan caught my eye and I like her so I watched the whole thing. I thought the defense team was rather poor. If this trial took place on The Good Wife, the defense would be very aware of every juror. Yet the villain of the show had to be the foreman, for deciding against most of the jurors' best judgment instead of telling the judge they were unable to decide. That would either drag things out or a mistrial would have to be declared. I don't actually know law, I just watch TV. LOL.
Really? People really voted 'Awful'?? That was one of the strongest episodes so far. I find nice that the SVU team is being able to mix controversies of the real world on their show [read about senator Todd Akin if you don't know what I'm talking about]. And then there was this astonishing performance of this 'Walking Dead' lady who played REAL really well the act of a rape victim seaking for justice no-matter-what. And I actually don't blame her for leaving. I mean, I'd do the same thing. It is outrageous that a rapist can sue for custody AND, in spite of losing the cause, getting a 2-hour visit per week. Could you imagine yourself living your worst nightmare over and over again? I liked how Liv didn't act by the book and the Cap. covered it :)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Really good episode, Liv was really affected by this.

I don't think by having Liv tell what happened to get mother would have changed anything . That's why she never told Avery the story
ReplyDeleteSecond the two that voted awful probably randomly voted or just felt the need to put down the show
Yet it's been two since he's been gone. SvU still is going strong .

ReplyDeleteYou do realize that this does happen a lot in real life cases
