  1. I am torn between the last scene with Oliver comforting Felicity and Moira freaking out about the blood. I have a sneaking suspicion the former with do better so my vote goes to Moira.

  2. Roy saying no one will miss him and he's just a waste, and Thea's reaction.

  3. That scene was pretty intense and it's a testament to the writers that I am enjoying this teen romance when usually that turns me off a show. I think it's because hey both having growing to do and they somewhat acknowledge it and want to do better. These characters are more palatable because they are together instead of the opposite so far. I also like that they are pretty much equals in their relationship and neither is afraid to call the other one out. If that balance remains, it will be more laudable than 99% of teen relationships portrayed in TV, movies, or books.

  4. OLIVER +LAUREL SCENE. They are effortlessly in love.

Though I also liked Oliver/Felicity scenes. I LOVED ALL FELICITY SCENES!!!.

  5. Both Olicity scenes, when she was torn, and when he says she can come to him if she needs to talk about her day. Oliver and Roy "meeting" for the first time....Roy using Thea's words, saying he's a waste. And Yao Fei's daughter kicking some serious ass!! That was awesome.

  6. argh! Radio buttons instead of check boxes. I'm not sure I can pick just one. My top four are:

Oliver's quest to rescue the Assistant DA...Felicity's reaction and everyone's reaction to his not making it.

    Roy saying he shouldn't live

    Oliver and Laurel's last scene

    Dinah Lance's confession

And Moira learning that the triad guy has been arrested.

  7. I hadn't realized it until I was reading your reply, but my attitude toward Thea and Roy and them as a couple...changed. I'm actually interested and starting to like them.

  8. I chose Oliver and Laurel's scene, not because of shipping but because Stephen nailed it in his acting and I liked how vulnerable he looked in that scene

  9. I haven't taken a stand on Katie Cassidy as an actress although Laurel does nothing for me, but in that hug at the end of the "Will you have coffee with me?" "Why?" scene, her face is blank, as completely blank as a china doll. In contrast, you could see a zillion emotions passing over Alex Kingston's face in her final scene.

Every time the producers talk about how Oliver and Laurel are 'star-crossed lovers', my heart sinks because Oliver with Laurel adds nothing to the show.

  10. In contrast, Willa Holland totally sold me on Thea caring for Roy. As she sat at the bar alone at the end, she looked so hurt and vulnerable.

  11. Yes, that was my favorite too. Well choreographed, and well done on Amell's part. Good work also by the actors playing Felicity and Diggle holding down the Arrow cave.

I also like the Felicity/Oliver scene at the end. The show opened with Felicity ogling Oliver's body, moved through her upset at the realization of the reality of what they are doing, and ended with Oliver opening up to her a bit when he decided he didn't want to be alone any more and Laurel had left him. If the writers are trying to show me that Laurel is Oliver's OTP, they're going about it the wrong way.

  12. I felt sorry for Laurel's mother. It seems like her guilt at not being able to keep Sarah from going on the boat tore her family apart and sent her away from Quentin and Laurel. As if anyone, especially a mother, could keep a teenager from doing what she wants to do for love!

  13. I didn't dislike Thea...*some* of her brattyness worked because we were seeing why. Her inconsistency wasn't a problem for me because teens are inconsistent. I just thought, a couple of times, that she was repeating a speech we'd already heard. But I didn't dislike the character. I was having trouble with the couple because, for me, Roy's first couple of episodes used the cliche brush to paint the character. As they interact they're gaining more dimension.

  14. Your description of Katie Cassidy's performance is why I was a little dubious when I saw that she'd been cast. She hadn't jumped out at me in the previous stuff I've seen her in. But I have actually liked her performance as Laurel. I think the scene where Oliver shows her his scars was one of the moments where I started to accept her and the character.

  15. lol...I was niggling at the idea that she is alive out there somewhere. Was wonder if the show was considering making Sarah Black Canary instead of Laurel. My thought is that it would get us to the character psychology faster.

There are a lot of heavy hitters in this cast.

  16. Forgive me if I'm still missing your point . I haven't looked at poll daddy but if you're only allowing people to choose one option out of a list you're going to get circles. That's a standard shape for radio buttons - which mean one selection only. If you allow people to pick more than one option then you get squares for check boxes i.e. one or more selection. I suspect what's happened is that they went for the industry standard and you said you wanted a poll with only one selection possible that locked you into circles.

  17. I too prefer Willa's acting to KC's, but I saw Laurel's blank stare in that scene as being in shock.

  18. Yeah, Ollie has always been honest with Felicity, especially after he told her his secret. What he said, he definitely meant. As for the flashbacks, i still don't mind them, I enjoy them. But you're right, it does need some movement.

  19. You're not alone. I found Locke to be one of the most annoying characters on the show. In fact, the only person that I disliked more than Locke was Locke's Dad! Anyway, vocal internet fandoms don't always represent the majority...there's a reason they have to be vocal!

I don't see anything wrong with Laurel's personality. The real problem is that she hasn't been portrayed in a way that elicits any reaction from viewers. There's nothing quirky or spunky about her (like Felicity), she's not dangerously misquided (like the huntress), and she isn't bratty and rebellious, like Thea. There's nothing about her character that's particularly endearing, nothing that elicits empathy, but also nothing to really hate (I don't find her sanctimonious like others, though). The ultimate result is a very boring TV character, which wouldn't be a problem, except she takes up a lot of screen time and is supposedly Oliver's big love interest. It's a shame, because I liked her as Ruby on Supernatural.

  20. This will change though as she becomes the Black Canary, I think she'll be much more interesting when she the lawyer decides the courts are not enough and to take the law to her own hands.
