Justified - "Get Drew" (4.10) - Preview

Tonight's episode of "Justified", entitled "Get Drew", really is what we've all been waiting for:  it's every storyline this season (which has, on occasion, felt a bit scattered) brought together in spectacular fashion.  After last week's revelation that benevolent sheriff Shelby (Jim Beaver) was actually legendary criminal Drew Thompson, this week's episode follows the various sides of Harlan -- Raylan (Timothy Olyphant), Boyd (Walton Goggins), and the Detroit Mob are all after Drew.  Everything converges into a fantastic episode that almost feels like a season finale.

Possibly the best thing about the episode is that it allows some secondary characters to shine.  Look forward to finally seeing Rachel (Erica Tazel) get some screen time, as well as the return of a popular character from a previous season (who is integral to the plot, instead of just being a little cameo).  It's also one of the most visually impressive episodes of the entire series (handled by 'Justified' newcomer Billy Gierhart, who's previously directed episodes of "The Walking Dead" and "Sons of Anarchy").

Though Season 4 of Justified has felt a little smaller and less perfectly plotted than, say, Season 2 or even Season 3, this episode almost single-handedly makes it all worth it.  The season is now tighter, the pace retroactively feels more methodical than meandering, and the storyline is set up for an intense final three episodes.

"Get Drew" premieres tonight on FX.

  1. I've thought these last 2 episodes were 2 of the best of the series and that this season might turn it to be the best one yet.

  2. Great preview, I know some people have been a bit unhappy with the approach this season has taken but I always feel that Justified slowly builds everything up, that every storyline is a point and connects. Sounds like this episode confirms that.

This has actually been my second favorite season but then again, I have faith in TPTB for Justified than almost any other show.

  4. I disagree I think this season has been the best so far, even surpassing season 2. The majority of the episodes have been excellent with only one or two getting an 8 out of 10. I am really looking forward to the homerun.
