Things are really ramping up on Arrow as the series heads towards the end of Season 1. I recently spoke to Arrow stars Stephen Amell (“Oliver Queen”) and David Rasmey (“John Diggle) and the show’s executive producers -- Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg -- about what to expect in the weeks to come.
The Island
Arrow is concurrently telling a story in the present, in Starling City, and one set in the past, during Oliver’s time on an island. Recently, the show has introduced Slade Wilson AKA Deathstroke, played by Manu Bennett and Kreisberg remarked, “We feel like we’ve found a new gear on the island with the addition of Manu Bennett. First of all, he’s amazing. He brings so much humor and warmth to the character. It’s really changed the dynamic as we’re writing it. They really do have this more Han Solo/Luke Skywalker thing happening on the island, which is great, because it really does play into, well, if Slade is his mentor, but we’re not seeing Slade in the present day, and we saw that mask [in the pilot]… what happened to him? Is he alive? And now we’ve introduced Shado on the island and she’ll be playing a big role as we move forward. So the island is great for us, because in a way it’s this ghost story.”

Can't wait for the rest of the episodes.
ReplyDeleteNot much new info..I want to hear more about what will happen on the present and who won't make it to the next season..
ReplyDeleteJust love Arrow Hope Theres Another Series Next Year-Wish it was on every night
ReplyDeleteoooo
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I just really hope that Slade is alive and will appear in the present story as well:) I love Manu Bennett so much!
ReplyDeleteI want to see him arriving as a bad guy in the present, he'll make a great enemy because he knows all about Oliver and his weaknesses.
ReplyDeleteIt was already renewed for next year
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer him as an ally, why would he be an enemy?
ReplyDeleteIf he was an ally, Oliver wouldn't have left the island without him. He's either an enemy or dead.
ReplyDeleteOr he had a chance to get off the island and betrayed Olliver.
ReplyDeleteThat would make him an enemy..
ReplyDeleteOkay, you're right...It just doesn't feel right.
ReplyDeleteI think the best enemies are those we can sympathize with. If he becomes evil it won't be just a good guy vs. a bad guy but two guys we care about. To me, it would make the show more interesting.
ReplyDeleteMaybe there was a chance to get off the island (eg a boat came along), Slade managed to escape but Oliver couldn't. Not sure how it'd work. Would like to see Slade join the Oliver-Dig-Felicity group.
ReplyDeleteMore Felicity is never a bad thing. ;)
ReplyDeleteThey had a good balance so far. I hope they stick to it while revealing more and more about Digg and Felicity
ReplyDeleteOliver would have never left without him, like he didn't want to leave without Yao Fei.
ReplyDeleteExactly my point. Maybe Slade left Oliver.
ReplyDeleteThat won't make Slade a friend. It'll more likely make them turn againat one another
ReplyDeleteFor a recurring character, Felicity's involvement is right about where it should be. Next season, however, she'll be a regular and that should be reflected in the amount of screen time she gets and in depth of material.
ReplyDeleteThey do have a plan for her, as I understand from this quote:
ReplyDelete"the more we get into who Felicity Smoak really is and what she’s all about and why she’s doing this, I think you guys will be really surprised."

And I hope I am surprised when they reveal her backstory.
That seems good. I hope they follow through on it because sometimes stuff like that can get cut.
ReplyDeleteThey are not trying to make it the Felicity show? Why do I find that ironic. well they sure are trying very hard considering she gets way more airtime & focus than many of the regulars yet she is only a guest now, whats gonna happen when she becomes a regular next season. You delibarately create plot device characters and listen to fans demands then act like you care about how this is going to affect the show and other characters. We all know how this story ends they should stop trying to save face.
