It was supposed to return for the second half of the current sophomore season with five new episodes shot in a multi-camera format (instead of single camera). But due to the sudden departure of Christina Applegate (http://tinyurl.com/aa9rdnf), NBC has reduced the five episodes to just one, which will serve as the pilot for the show’s new direction. The episode, directed by veteran James Burrows, will film this Friday. It is not clear how Applegate’s departure will be addressed.

They really need to just give up and cancel it already, tbh. None of this is going to work.

ReplyDeleteSo its basically like a back door pilot for what is essentially a new show sort off and it may or may not get picked up for next season? Makes no sense, they should have just cancelled it and allowed the cast to move on to their pick of new shows.

ReplyDeleteI agree, they should just cancel this show now. It's really quite a disaster. The move to multi camera format was pretty much saying that they were getting desperate, but with Christina leaving, adn the order being cut to a singel episode I can not see the point.

ReplyDeleteAlthough this will most probably just horribly bomb, I can't help but wonder; what if it works? is there any other series that survived a restructuring of these dimensions?
