    I totally agree that this is a time when she should be whiny. I just think the writers creating a plot in which she should be whiny was an unfortunate idea, especially at the expense of Jeremy. :(

    Matt is telling Elena it's okay to have hope? That doesn't seem right coming from him unless he's lying his ass off to keep Elena from completely losing it.

    Heavy sigh...isn't it always? The interviews have pretty much said that because it's been said it will affect how they all relate to each other. That could be good or bad.

    I will agree that the character can be overly whiny when the circumstances don't call for it but in this particular instance it's fine.

    This may be the best tvd promo the cw has releashed in months!But sth tells me even Jer's death and how Elena handles it will be about the love triangle. UGH!

    I mean, don't create plot points with the goal of making her more weepy. They are struggling trying to keep her a sympathetic character and I don't think this was the way to go.

    I don't give a crap about an Elena breakdown story. She's horrible and always has been, making her more weepy isn't going to make her interesting. Bring back Jeremy.

    It's not necessarily the plot that does that. It's how the writers script her reaction to the circumstances. I'm still hoping they'll give the character a lot more backbone... eventually. Honestly, If she's going to be with Damon I'd like it to be more of a "partners in crime" or a "whole is greater than the sum of its parts" situation but she'd have to be more assertive and emotionally resilient for that to happen.

    somehow i am more shaken up by matts breakdown in the car (he really has it with those, doesn't he?) than by elena. I just dont want to see my bb matt suffer...

    Jenna, Alaric, John Gilbert, Anna, Vicki, Kol, Carol, Rose, Mason, etc.

    Yeah, I know. And normally I would be on the "stop killing Elena's family" van wagon, but maybe it's the fact that Kol felt too much like wall paper and Rick was only killed off only because Matthew Davis got a show of his own, that I just wish they would downsize the cast so they can stop using almost everyone except for Elena, Stefan and Damon as supporting actors and/or convenient plot devices. If it were up to me I would start with Klaus, who I'm sick and tired of, and Bonnie, which it's really sad because I liked book!Bonnie a lot...

    got a cheque for $7744 working 10 hours a week from their apartment and

    I don't understand why so many people don't like elena and call her
    whiny.. imagine what this girls has been tru!! her parents died and just
    a few months later she finds out about vampires, werewolfs, witches and
    all this supernatural stuff ..then she finds out shes a doppelganger
    and the biggest badest vampire in the world wants to kill her ..then
    he killed her aunt .. after that he wants her as a human blood bag ..
    then she gets turned into a vampire and much more happend to her.. and
    that girl is still a teenager!! i can totally understand why she is
    whiny .. if i would be her i would lock myself into a room, never get
    out and cry for the rest of my life .. but elena still fights and tries
    to move on.. she is a really strong person.. i don't think that any of
    the elena-haters would handle ALL THIS better than her!!

    LOL. That does seem to be a sticking point! I'm mainly indifferent to her until she gets all over the top melodramatic or shrill or weepy or totally irrational. So I prefer those moments when I can ignore her. There were times I particularly liked the sired bonded, listen to Damon version. He'd be like chill out, and she'd totally stop being annoying. :)
