The Selection - Female lead cast

23 Feb 2013

Actress Yael Grobglas has landed one of the most sought-after roles for young actresses, the lead in the CW drama The Selection. Set 300 years in the future, The Selection is an epic romance centering on America Singer (Grobglas), a working class young woman chosen by lottery to participate in a competition with 25 other women for the Royal Prince’s hand to become the nation’s next queen. Warner Bros. TV is producing the pilot, written by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain based on Kiera Cass’ book. Aimee Teegarden, who played America in The Selection last year, is the lead of another CW pilot this year, Oxygen. Two other Selection cast members from last year, Sean Patrick Thomas and Peta Sergeant, are reprising their roles.

  1. It looks like this will be her first real acting job, hopefully she's really good. She looks older than Aimme Teegarden and I don't think she would make a good match with the old male lead actors so i really hope they get recast to older male actors, not old just so they look like they are in their 20s instead of their teens like the previous two.

  4. this sounds terrible.. i mean i get the rip off of the hunger games but this doesnt even sound interesting. I doubt it will go far.. maybe for a few episodes but it will go and go quicly. The CqW has no originality. They destroy anything new and different and stick with the same old tired material they already tried and failed. Ughh not wonder i stopped watching this network.

  6. I don't know, tv shows remakes of books aren't 100% copies of the story. the best shows know how to manipulate the story to draw the biggest audience. Most adults won't watch a show about a group of young teens (16) but if they bump that age up to 20-28 it makes them young adults and draws a wider audience.

  7. the cw is just on fire this pilot season. I don't know her, but nina dobrev was a virtually unknown when the vampire diaries started and she proves over and over how good she is (just watch this week's episode). I think that this show will be picked up. They are actually shooting in hungary which, considering the usual cw's budget limitations, i found very surprising. Looking forward to it!

  8. I agree, this show would be better in the early 20's age range rather than a high school teenager setting. I hope they cast them older to. The CW is kicking ass this pilot season! They may be starting to get their reputation back (if they stop canceling shows) and go back to its former glory circa Buffy, Charmed, Angel, Dawsons etc
