SpoilerTV - TV Spoilers

The fastest SpoilerTV ever and less Ads!

7 Feb 2013

I don't know about you, but 2 things that bug me on the internet are slow loading pages and too many ads. Well today we're pleased to announce that SpoilerTV is the fastest it's ever been and we have reduced the ads on pages by 25%.

Over the past week we've been tweaking the site and it's now currently loads the homepage as fast as it has ever loaded.

We've also reduced the ads that display on pages from 4 ads to just 3, which is less than every other TV related mainstream site. We'd love to get rid of them all but unfortunately we need to pay the bills, so NO ADS = NO SpoilerTV, which I'm sure none of us want ;)

We also believe that our site is now one of the fastest if not the fastest loading mainstream TV site on the internet.

As a Test I ran our site along with a number of others through a loading test over at http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt. Below are the results.

Here is our result.

SpoilerTV (3 Ads)

EW.COM (7 Ads on average)

TVGUIDE (8 Ads on average)

E!ONLINE (5 Ads on average)
We gave up on E!Online as the tests timed out after 20+ seconds

TVLINE (5 Ads on average)

TVOVERMIND (8 Ads on average)

What are the fastest Browsers?

Also for those of you interested you can see which Browsers load the site the fastest. These averages were taken from over 2 Million page views from all over the world.

So if you want the fastest experience, get Google Chrome!

  1. Great stuff everyone! it's really fast now.

LOL at E!Online. Don't recall the last time I went there but it's awful.

As as for TVOVERMIND, that has to be the worst site ever, it's just full of ads/popups and other nasty crap and takes forever to load. Not been there for a while and it seems it's actually gotten worse if thats possible ha!

  2. Well as we say every time that "SpoilerTV" is the "BEST"

  3. Its worse... trust me!

  4. I love the line of tvovmind

"Your website is SLOWER than 82% of the internet" ROFL

  5. Yeah, E!Online takes ages to load.

  6. SpoilerTV is definitely my favourite TV site, it's so simple and you don't need to search for the correct section, it's all just right there on the front page. Easy to check all the new TV show related news on my mobile phone, for example.

  7. @Korvasieni:disqus Thanks, that's very kind of you to say so :) I use it myself so i want it to be as easy and as fast as possible lol

  8. Yep, E!online is terrible and tvovermind has gone so far downhill these last few years. I can't believe why anyone would visit it anymore.

  9. Again something that proves that SpoilerTV is by far the best website ever ! Just love being around lol

Thanks to all SpoilerTVTeam for all the work you do :)

  10. Ha thanks, and we love having you around!

  11. That's so nice Andy, thanks a lot :p ... you know, that's why I love being here, we can talk with every1, and everybody is so nice ! In others, the site admin or modo never write anything, or just to reminds us rules ... and I hate that :ppp

  12. Yep, that's one of the reasons I started the site. Lots of other sites are "professionally" run by people who do it for a living and I get the feeling they don't really like the fans.

All the people who help run the site are all fans of the shows they cover and love to discuss their shows with other fans.

That's why I like our "tagine"

"For the fans, by the fans" :)

  13. ‘SpoilerTV’ is — by far — the most simple and efficient TV website around here. You've done a truly remarkable job, that's something you can really be proud of. THANK YOU.

  14. Totally agree ! And it's the best thing you could have done :)

I was in different sites, french ones before I had a pretty good level in english and to be honest I spent a lot of time doing thing for it and no one thanks, nothing at all, except blames for doing something wrong , even once ... maybe it's more a french being to have to command others ... but I hated that, really, we didn't have any pleasure to read people, or to give your own opinion about something

Here it's totally different and WE LOVE IT :pp

  15. Yep, that sucks :(

I agree, I think we have a nice group of people from all over the world and the community is very cool ;)

  16. Yeah ! It's true ! Even the simple fact that anyone can contact you to ask anything, or the fact that you thank people when they do something, I never saw that in any website I know,

It's what makes SpoilerTV rock :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. :) Yep, lets hope we can continue and improve :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hard to improve loooooool :)

  19. Again this proves that SpoilerTV is the world's best TV site :-)
"What are the fastest Browsers?" Where the hell is Opera :-/ And Explorer?!?! Srsly :D

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thanks :)

Yep, the new IE10 is a lot faster than IE8/9 but still slow and buggy compared to Chrome.

    I just looked up opera.

it only had 20,000 hits out of 2+ Million in our sample, which was less than 1 %. It's was too small a sample for Google Analytics to calculate an average load time.

    ReplyDelete
  21. So this lightly people use Opera? Quite disappointing tbh. I don't care though, I love Opera :-)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ha yes I hate IE. I occasionally use Opera for testing but I have all my computers running chrome and all synced together along with my Android phone and Nexus 7 Tablet so that I have everthing the same no matter what device I use. Plus I have a Chromebook as well for light use/testing.

As you can see I'm a google fan :)

  23. Was removing the pop out option for articles part of making the site faster? I don't see the TV icon next to the articles anymore. I hope it's just temporary because I absolutely loved that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It was unrelated. The problem was that the code we were using was old and was causing issues with some browsers and screwing up the mobile version.

I'm investigating ways of adding a similar feature back at some point when I've been able to find a reliable version that works across all browsers

  25. SpoilerTV is great! It's the best site out there and has a great community! Honored to be a part of both!

Alot of thanks to Andy for creating and running this site! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for the info.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Just another proof why SpoilerTV is absolutely the BEST! Nice work!
    Thanks, Andy!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yep, as a stop gap there is a little "+" icon after the comments link. That will load a popup. It's not ideal at the moment but it will have to do whilst I have a play around :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wau, you've got so many devices. I've never heard about Chromebook, well, you're learning something every freakin day right :-) So Google has its own PC, isn't that interesting...

    ReplyDelete
  30. There are ads on the internetz? My Firefox would disagree.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Unfortunatly if you block ads on SpoilerTV you hurt us all. If everyone blocked ads we would have to close the site.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thank you SpoilerTV, you are the best! :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks @facebook-1145027111:disqus :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I was wondering what that icon '+' was for!

    ReplyDelete
  35. No more ads before clips yes! I don't care how many ads are on the pages, it's when I'm trying to view a video that it was a bit annoying because sometimes the ads were longer than the clips themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Awesome. And I just discovered the pop up option on the pages which is pretty cool.

    ReplyDelete
  37. We've not removed the video ads I'm afraid but hopefully they will be less

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is no surprise. It seems like a chore to go on some websites, but SpoilerTV is the exception. It loads faster than anything else. My internet has been especially slow lately, but SpoilerTV, again, is the exception.
