Scene Of The Week - February 3, 2013 - *POLL*

3 Feb 2013

Week 9! Thanks so much for all your contribution! Really glad you like the idea of the poll!
My choices this week are:

1. Show: PERSON OF INTEREST
Episode: "Dead Reckoning"
Date: January 31, 2013
Actors: Michael Emerson, Jim Caviezel
The Scene: Finch and Reese on the roof.

This show! If you’re not watching it, you’re missing out something really remarkable! What could easily become just one more procedural show (not that I don’t like them, cause I do!) is one of the most unpredictable, full of twists and turns, action-packed, character driven, brilliantly written and complex series out there. This episode proves that again! It’s really hard to pick just one scene but I’m going with Finch saving Reese’s life on the roof. I absolutely love the relationship between these two! John trying to convince everyone to get away from him, so that nobody else got hurt and Harold, determined but really terrified, deciding to stay with him and save his life. It was emotional, gripping and even funny for a moment. Like always, dialogues are amazing, and so are Jim and Michael. Well done, everyone!
Also, I have to mention a small Bear and John scene later, which is just such a lovely moment of happiness for the guys. Go team! Can’t wait what’s next.
Quote:
“I have built the most complex computer systems in existence. I can certainly unlock a phone.” Finch

NOTE: This scene was also picked by Sharon Seymour and Jimmy Ryan as Scene Of the Week!
The first of two scenes that took my breath away was when Harold was trying to disarm Reese's bomb vest. For once, we didn't have 1 second left on the clock, more like 7 if my memory is correct. But that scene was a testament to how close these two have become despite still holding many secrets from each other. Jimmy Ryan

2. Show: SUPERNATURAL
Episode: “As Time Goes By”
Date: January 30, 2013
Actors: Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Gil McKinney
The Scene: Dean and Henry saving Sam, Henry’s death

It feels like the show is back on track. Hopefully, it’s gonna stay like this, because this was definitely my favorite episode of the season! After last week’s really great one, things got even better with the introduction of the new amazing character, Henry Winchester. True, he wasn’t the nicest person and he judged boys very fast after learning that they’re hunters (“Hunters are apes”), but he certainly seems like the complete opposite of one of my least favorite characters on the show, Samuel Campbell, Dean and Sam’s other grandfather. And we can see it very clearly in this scene.
After finding out what happened with his son, his legacy, Henry desperately wanted to go back and fix everything. He’s a Winchester! But seeing how much Dean was worried about his brother and how much he needed to rescue him, he decided to stay and help, and sacrificed his life to save Sam’s. Henry and Dean together defeated Abaddon and in the very emotional scene he managed to say goodbye to his grandsons, realizing that seeing them made him very proud of his beloved son and died with the confidence that as long as his family is alive there’s always hope.
Also I loved every scene when Dean had his father’s back! It felt like in the good old days, before John suddenly became a VERY criticized character on the show. Always got angry when it happened.
Quote:
“You’re also Winchesters. As long as we’re alive there’s always hope. I didn’t know my son as a man, but having met you two, I know I would have been proud of him” Henry

NOTE: This scene was also picked by klutzy girl as Scene Of the Week!

My honorable mentions go to:
Scandal, “Truth or Consequences”, January 31, 2013 – The “Gladiators in Suits” and their moment of truth

Nikita, “Survival Instincts”, February 1, 2013 – Michael and Nikita fight and kiss

And here’s more of SpoilerTV Team members’ favorite scenes:

1. FROM BRADLEY ADAMS

NCIS, “Hit and Run”, January 29, 2013
Actors: Pauley Perrette, Sean Murray, Mark Harmon
The Scenes:

McGee and Abby; where McGee finds her in the bingo. His concern for her showed how much he, and the rest of the team care about each other.
Gibbs telling Abby that she does good.

NCIS: Los Angeles, “The Chosen One”, January 29, 2013
Actors: Entire Cast
The Scene:

Hetty taking the tank and putting her fish in it. Hilarious.

2. FROM SHARON SEYMOUR

The Vampire Diaries, “A View to a Kill”, January 31, 2013
Actors: Joseph Morgan
The Scene:

Kol in flames and Klaus getting angry.

Person Of Interest, "Dead Reckoning", January 31, 2013
Actors: Michael Kelly, Annie Parisse
The Scene:

Snow blows up Kara unexpectedly at the end.

NOTE: This scene was also picked by Jimmy Ryan as Scene Of the Week!
Snow made the ultimate sacrifice to eliminate Stanton after Reese talked him into it. That was a twist I don't think anyone saw coming. But I'm pretty sure Snow and Stanton will remain dead, and be good at it as well, but nothing is ever what it seems with this show.

The Americans, “Pilot”, January 30, 2013
Actors: Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys
The Scenes:

Elizabeth and Philip dispose the body then have sex.
Elizabeth and Philip argue about defecting to the USA.

The Following, “Chapter Two”, January 28, 2013
Actors: Natalie Zea, James Purefoy, Kevin Bacon, Valorie Curry
The Scenes:

Claire confronts Joe about their missing child in prison.
Ryan gets attacked whilst looking around the safe house by the man in the mask. It actually made me jump.
Denise kills her mom.

3. FROM JAMIE COUDEVILLE

The Lying Game, “A Kiss Before Lying”, January 29, 2013
Actors: Allie Gonino, Alexandra Chando
The Scene:

Laurel sees Sutton right after speaking to Emma on the phone. Just the look on her face was priceless, won't be long 'till she figures it out.

New Girl, “Cooler”, January 29, 2013
Actors: Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson
The Scene:

Nick & Jess kiss - A lot of people (including me) have been waiting a long time for this, and I have to say that it was even better than I had expected.

The Vampire Diaries, “A View to a Kill”, January 31, 2013
Actors: Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder
The Scene:

Elena hugs Damon - It's small, but when it comes to these two, even the small gestures can make me fangirl.

Nikita, “Survival Instincts”, February 1, 2013
Actors: Maggie Q, Shane West
The Scene:

Michael & Nikita fight - I loved the flashbacks to 1x04 and the kiss she gave him. These two just break my heart.

4. FROM KLUTZY GIRL

Bones, “The Twist in the Plot”, January 28, 2013
Actors: David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel
The Scene:

Booth talking to Christine via videotape in case he dies, and Brennan's reaction to it.

Grey’s Anatomy, “Bad Blood”, January 31, 2013
Actors: Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, Patrick Dempsey
The Scenes:

Meredith feels the baby kicking for the first time
Bailey's random Hunger Games references
Meredith and Derek feeling the baby kick at the end.

The Office, “Vandalism”, January 31, 2013
Actors: Brain Baumgartner, Jack Coleman
The Scene:

Kevin calls out the Senator for his treatment of Angela and Oscar.

5. FROM SYLVIE C

Chicago Fire, “Warm and Dead”, January 30, 2013
Actors: Eamonn Walker
The Scene:

Chief Boden searching for Ernie in the burning house, finding him unconscious in a closet, carrying him outside and finding he was already dead. I cried.

6. FROM DARTH LOCKE

Downton Abbey, “Episode Five”, January 27, 2013
Actors: Jessica Brown Findlay, David Robb, Tim Pigott-Smith
The Scene:

Sybil's death scene and the climatic Doctor verses Doctor pre-death scenes were fantastically preformed and made Downton Abbey exceptionally heart breaking this week. Of course the U.K. chaps already have seen this, but for American audiences, finally seeing it is nothing in comparison to knowing about it in advance. It surely will change the feel of Downton from her on out. I can only hope that Branson and Sybil's daughter will continue to be apart of the show. I give Downton props to continue to use medical issues and debates of disease and treatment as something relating to the time period.

The Americans, “Pilot”, January 30, 2013
Actors: Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys
The Scenes:

It's second or third scene with 'pass the Russian in the night' paired with Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk" was a nice introduction! Also seeing how the actor who play's Kerri Russell's character's husband gets mad at the Russian commander for realizing what he did to his wife was a nice turn around. The show seems like it might not only ask questions about what it might be like for an outsider looking on on 1980's Cold War America, but perhaps it will address the nature of right or wrong no matter where you are from, or where you live. The only thing I didn't like about it, was it's filming style was little too dark in spots. I wanted to be able to see what was going on more.

7. FROM JULIA ALBUQUERQUE

The Americans, “Pilot”, January 30, 2013
Actors: Matthew Rhys
The Scene:

I loved the pilot and there were great moments - some mentioned above, but if there is one scene that stuck with me was the very last shot of The Americans. Call me naive, but I really wasn't expecting Phillip to be watching in the shadows and I just loved the way it was shot and specially lit.

Bunheads, "The Astronaut and the Ballerina", January 28, 2013
Actors: Sutton Foster, Hunter Foster
The Scene:

There was something very poignant on the last scene between Michelle and her brother. Their problems didn't just magically vanish - which is refreshing when dealing with a guest star - and yes, there was still a lot of tension, but I adore how the Foster siblings played that one final song.

8. FROM JIMMY RYAN

Scandal, “Truth or Consequences”, January 31, 2013
The Scenes:

ABC's Scandal was once again full of excellent scenes. Two that I'll mention specifically were when Quinn, Huck, Harrison, and Abby were trying to put the pieces of the political scandal together. Scandal fans will know how insanely fast all the characters talk, and this scene was no exception, along with its help in deepening the conspiracy further.

The second Scandal scene was right at the end of the episode, with Mellie giving birth having induced her labor to prevent her husband from divorcing her. She's a very cunning woman, and we will no doubt see the conclusion to those events next week.

9. FROM ROBIN SMYTH

Elementary, “The Red Team”, January 31, 2013
Actors: Jonny Lee Miller
The Scene:

The one, where Sherlock is describing the way he messes with the conspiracy theorists.

  1. I vote "Other" because my favorite scene is from Elementary but it's the scene between Sherlock and Gregson at the bar.

  2. So I voted for Mikita's fight/kiss, Nick/Jess kiss, and Klaus seeing Kol on fire
3 moments that I really loved this week =)

    ReplyDelete
  3. I voted "Other" because my favourite scene is from The Big Bang Theory, when Sheldon tells Penny that he might consider having sex with Amy.

  4. I picked Supernatural, but not just for that scene, the whole ep was my pick. Nothing to dislike about it for me. Best ep of the season

But also loved Fleetwood Mac's Tusk scene in The Americans, and Phil Collins' In The Air Tonight scene was hot.

Person of Interest Finch/Reese on the roof and the playing with dog and the last scene with Harold's name on the paper. AWESOME

    ReplyDelete
  5. Klaus seeing Kol dying was by far my favourite. I also really liked Spencer trying to hold her tears while putting on make up on Pretty Little Liars and Mrs Selfridge confessing her true identity and intentions to Roddy (I hope their storyline doesn't end here).

  6. That piece of paper will change the course of the show yet again. I wonder where it came from, considering that Stanton and Snow didn't indicate they knew of Finch, and it would be terribly unlike Reese to leave Finch's name written anywhere

    ReplyDelete
  7. Person of Interest was fantastic, and all those scenes mentioned were great, I'd add the scene when Carter didn't want to leave Reese, it was quite touching, it showed how far that relationship has come, considering that she was chasing him a season ago.
But everything about the episode was amazing, and the Bear-Reese reunion was lovely as well.

  8. Happy to see Nikita get mentions, but I have to say my favorite scene from this weeks episode was the Sean/Alex talk (and, uh...other things) right before Michael and Nikita's scene. Lyndsy Fonseca and Dillon Casey really knocked it out of the park. It was really good to see Alex open up like that. And lets face it, it was hot as hell.

  9. Booth amazing and emotional Video for his cute Daugther Christine

  10. This was the best episode of the season for Supernatural. It was the best of the week.

  11. Well Stanton was supposed to be getting the name of the person she was looking for and the note came from the burning car..I had a feeling it would be him, but it still was a shock and I stopped and backed up to make sure what I was reading. Love this show.

  12. I Totally agree.

  13. I really loved the final duet on Bunheads. It seems like it is a silly Gilmore Girls knock-off series, but that was masterful, understated, adult. It wasn't trying or showing it's hand. It was an honest snapshot that had a huge story to tell.

    ReplyDelete
  14. DEFINITELY the Nick/Jess kiss! And Booth's video to Christine and Bones attacking him when he finished it - so sweet!

The entire episode of NCIS was great! I don't care if Abby is too old to be acting the way she does - some people just don't grow up. Although I think my favorite part of the whole episode was Gibbs showing Abby that he still had the fortune she had given him on her first day.

For some reason, the only scene that sticks out in my memory from Switched at Birth is the whole scene with Travis helping Daphne cover for Regina when the immigration guy dropped by unexpectedly. Everyone's reaction to him in the towel to make it look like he lived there and then his and Daphne's kiss was great. I hope this means that things are looking up for him.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I loved their talk! Among other things ;)

    ReplyDelete
  16. The whole Person of Interest, and Nick/Jess kiss.

    ReplyDelete
  17. New Girl!
That kiss was amazing, and after such a long wait it was worth it.

  18. There was a lot of great scenes this week.

I voted Person of Interest - the roof scene. I loved Finch refusing to leave. The scene with Reese saying goodbye to Carter and Fusco was great too. And I also loved the scene between Reese and Bear. Bear knocking him over and Reese grinning was just so sweet. :)

Nikita flashback and kiss scene was amazing too. When done how the moment was compared to the past.

Chicago Fire when the Chief was trying to save Ernie was heartbreaking. The scene afterwards with the puppy was great too because everyone was sad and quiet and the puppy Pouch got them to smile. Pouch is needed in the fire house with all the things those firefighters go through.

Also the Supernatural scene of Henry's death was sad. :(

  19. Stanton was writing it down when she was on the phone! It's still interesting though; until now, we have only heard about the "Finch" alias from Alicia Corwin. I have no idea how that guy would know his name!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Person Of Interest - Snow blows up Stanton. A few things bug me about the fact that Stanton died before she could do any real damage (muahaha) but she - and Snow too - did have it coming, so it was very sweet to watch. There's something very satisfying about the idea that they would be responsible for each other's deaths.

The Americans - Opening sequence. Now, this was a show I never planned to watch, but I did it and I'm already hooked. I just loved the style (and the music!) of that first scene, and it really set the tone for the rest of the episode. Hopefully for the rest of the series. Honorable mention goes to the ice cream scene with the kids. It was sweet and funny, and it showed so much about who the two main characters are in such a subtle, ''human'' way.

The Following - The Hardy/Carroll scene near the end. Can we get one of these every week? Just so well acted. The main thing I liked about this episode was Emma Hill, but I couldn't pick one scene with her that stood out.

Once Upon A Time was not very good this week IMO, so... maybe next time. ;)

I'd like to mention Marcus Chaplin's death scene from Last Resort too. It was from the week before, but I didn't watch it until now. :p Anyway... That scene made me realize that I did care about the characters a lot, even though the show was not really my thing at all times. It was a solid ending for the show, so I'm not all that sad that it was cancelled.

  21. There were a lot of great scenes this week but by far my favorite was John and Henry on the roof. That scene combined action with great emotional heft that wasn't sappy or overly sentimental and it paid off big time. They didn't need many words but it was clear just how much these men care for each other and how far they will go to protect each other.

The Supernatural scene however was overly sentimental with trite and self-aggrandizing dialogue that made me roll my eyes. The show itself was on a high point for the season and I loved how there wasn't a brother fight in sight. It was Supernatural for the first time this season and I rejoiced. Still I completely disagree with how this scene is being presented. Henry didn't see how much Dean cared about Sam and relent. Dean choked Henry until he was unconscious, put him in the Impala, and then headed for Kansas. By the time Henry woke up he had two choices: 1. Take on Abaddon without a plan. 2. Help come up with a plan to take on Abaddon. It's quite clear what the smart choice was and Henry prided himself on being the smartest guy in the room. Yes I do think he was sympathetic to Dean's feelings however there is no way in the world he would have gone to Kansas if Dean hadn't forced him to. This wasn't a noble stand for family. This was the best of his options.

The Following had its intense moments so I would agree that the Claire confronting Joe scene was powerful. I also jumped when Edgar Allan Poe guy jumped out at Ryan. That was the most shocking part of the episode to me.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think if a show is worth putting on the air then the networks should care enough about the viewers to at least make an ending for it. I was happy with the closure for Last Resort and not leave us hanging.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I definitely agree that Supernatural feels back on track for me; the last two episodes are the first that have really felt like SPN to me all season. I hope they stay on a roll with it! I think all the scenes with Henry and the boys were really great, all the way up to Dean's choice to save Sam and Henry's sacrifice. That's the family element this show's been missing lately. Abbadon was a really memorable villain, as well.

I think my favorite scenes for the week had to be Elementary's introduction of "Clyde", however! I never thought I'd love a turtle so much.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Definitely! This way the show does work as a mini-series. They just finished airing Missing in Holland, and they advertised that one a mini-series. My parents watched the show, and they were incredibly disappointed when it ended on a cliffhanger and the network said ''This was the final episode, see ya next week with a new show!''...
(I WARNED them about it, but they were too stubborn to listen!)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Denise killing her mom in The Following, and Elizabeth and Phillip disposing of the body and than visiting the Russian Bone Zone

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love checkboxes. I want more check boxes for polls like these. :-) I never have one choice. Add to that it is impossible for me to pull favorite scenes out out of the air for a whole week. Having a list helps me remember.

POI - loved loved loved Reese and Finch on the roof. And Reese seeing (and hopefully believing that he has people willing to fight for him.)

Bones - Booth recording his message was definitely one of the top scenes of the week for me.

Others I voted for: Supernatural - Henry dies, Scandal - Mellie gives birth (this woman redefines "piece of work"), and Nikita - that final fight and kiss

Oh, speaking of Vampire Diaries -- Klaus bellowing about something that displeases him....doesn't really qualify as a 'best scene to me' but Joseph Morgan's performance did stand out for me. It was the scene between Klaus and Damon talking about forgiveness.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes! This is what I mean by being completely unable to answer this question without prompting. I LOVED that scene as well.

    ReplyDelete
  28. We stopped calling Michael Emerson "Henry" a long time ago! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ha! Sorry. Brain lapse. I'll fix it now.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Glad you like it;)
Great choices, BTW! I really enjoyed Damon and Klaus' talk. Very interesting and I loved the quote about forgiveness!

    ReplyDelete
  31. On POI, Stanton did get it from the phone call. She wrote it down on her notepad, but I'm mystified by it. I almost couldn't believe my eyes. Had to watch it again!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Booth's video message to his baby, Christine, and Bones jumping onto his lap as her reaction to listening to him recording it! Loved the scene and cried my eyes out!

    ReplyDelete
  33. No need to apologize! Just kidding around :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Other because well Salex duh!

    ReplyDelete
  35. "This show! If you’re not watching it, you’re missing out something really remarkable!" - Exactly! Person of Interest is unbelievable :D
