Week 10! Thanks so much for all your contribution!
My choices this week are:
1. Show: NCIS Episode: “Canary”
Date: February 5, 2013
Actors: Michael Weatherly, Cote de Pablo, Vik Sahay, Ethan Rains
The Scene: The staged prison break
This is just such a brilliantly done scene. Starting from Tony’s conversation with Khan, then turmoil behind the doors and finally attempted escape. The fact that many viewers actually started wondering whether it’s all true is just one of the proofs why it’s so great. Not to mention the performances of the actors, which were fantastic. Speaking of actors, it was so nice to see Vik Sahay again on TV. Don’t know about you, but I certainly miss Chuck a lot. And Ethan playing Kevin, I want to see more of this character, I really liked him here.
I’m going with this scene to appreciate the brilliance of the creators of the show. After so many years, they are still able to make something so good and catch the attention of the viewers. This season is doing great and considering it’s season 10 (!), well, all I can say is: kudos to the NCIS team! No wonder, it’s number 1 show on TV!
NOTE: This scene was also picked by Bradley Adams as Scene Of the Week!
2. Show: HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Episode: “P.S. I Love You”
Date: February 4, 2013
Actors: Cobie Smulders, Various Canadian Celebrities
The Scene: “Underneath the Tunes” documentary
Robin Sparkles (or Daggers in this case) never disappoints. I loved every single bit about Robin’s musical career in Canada. It’s always so much fun to watch and the songs are just so ridiculous and catchy. This, most likely, last part of this story is showed us in a different form, documentary. Presented, in the company of the dramatic music, interviews with Canadian celebrities are just something you can’t miss. The jokes! And the question about the doughnuts! By the way, did you know, that Tim Hortons actually CREATED the one Jason Priestly talks about on HIMYM (a Timbit crammed into a strawberry vanilla) after watching the episode.
As for the music video “P.S. I Love You” itself, nice job Cobie Smulders! It was definitely more intense than any other Robin’s song. And I really liked how it was made! So I’m going with this tribute to Robin Sparkles and her obsession with Paul Shaffer (I did not see this one coming, did you?).
NOTE: This scene was also picked by Babar Suhail as Scene Of the Week!

1. FROM DARTH LOCKE Person Of Interest, “One Percent”, February 7, 2013
Actors: Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson, Jimmi Simpson
The Scene: The Watchers Become the Watched
Honestly I think there were many good scenes in this week's Person of Interest, but I picked this one, because it makes ideas presented in those other scenes more interesting. Every episode begins with a monologue of Finch saying, "We work in secret. You’ll never find us..."
We are introduced to character, the POI of the episode, Logan Pierce. Pierce is a wealthy billionaire with high I.Q. and is a computer technology tycoon, who despite being the victim, ultimately comes off as threat to Finch and Reese. I'm reminded of LOST when Penny tells Desmond, "With enough money and resources you can find anyone.", as Pierce is able to pull several double wammys including knowing a bit of something about Reese and Finch and confronting them on it.
It's all contrasted by a conversation where Pierce tells Reese that technology changes, but not the human need to be connected to other human beings. For a character that Reese exploits to the viewers as ' a guy that's hard to keep up with, because he breaks all the rules' and the realization Reese has about Logan's Russian hideaway plan was a way to 'see HOW Reese worked', it's hard to see through Pierce and his potential as a long term character, but at the very least seems to be a character that could be a "make or break" factor for Team Machine. (And the Machine knows it!) I'm reminded of Alias' Julian Sark, a freelance agent who seemed to be in the business for the thrill of it, implying that any other life style would be boring. Pierce comments to Reese about knowing that he really wasn't "boring"...
Jim Caviezel and Jimmi Simpson where delightful together and their playful dispositions disguised the serious nature of the situation with fun zeal.
Additionally the episode was sentimental for me, as it reminded me of Fringe as well. Pierce was like a wealthy excessive Donald O'Conner on speed and not quite out of Observer mode, as Fringe too was partly about ' the watchers' and perception of reality in wake of advanced technology. (And Pierce is a similar kind of name to Sharp, no?).

Actors: Matthew Rhys, Noah Emmerich

Phillip and Stan share some caviar
Philip fights with the hostage’s brother

Actors: Virginia Kull, Billy Brown
The Scene:
The FBI agent getting stabbed by the follower’s wife pretending to be the victim
Person Of Interest, “One Percent”, February 7, 2013
Actors: Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson, Jimmi Simpson, Taraji P. Henson, Kevin Chapman, Brett Cullen
The Scenes:
Reese saves the victim from dying by pushing a pipe down his throat
Finch and Ingram discussing what to do now that the machine has been delivered
Fusco and Carter have a "chat" in the interrogation room
NOTE: "Finch and Ingram's conversation" scene was also picked by Jimmy Ryan as Scene Of the Week!

The Scenes:
Cyrus and James’ naked argument
Fitz giving eulogy and killing Verna
Mellie telling Cyrus she would ruin Fitz
NOTE: "Cyrus and James' argument" and "The eulogy" scenes were also picked by Jimmy Ryan as Scene Of the Week!
6. FROM BRADLEY ADAMS
Hawaii Five-0, “Hookman”, February 4, 2013
Actors: Peter Weller
The Scene:
This may seem like a strange one, but I actually really enjoyed the opening scene of 'Hookman'. Him walking up the hill, setting up the sniper, shooting it and then escaping was brilliantly done in my opinion.
NCIS: Los Angeles, “Kill House”, February 5, 2013
Actors: Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen
The Scene:
Deeks asking Kensi repeatedly what was in the box, then suggesting that she sent it to herself was hilarious.
Criminal Minds, “All That Remains”, February 6, 2013
Actors: A.J. Cook, Jeanne Tripplehorn
The Scene:
The scene with JJ telling Blake that she lost her sister. Incredibly emotional.
CSI: Las Vegas, “In Vino Veritas”, February 6, 2013

How can Scandal's scene not be top.... I mean like how will you forget the tension between Cyrus and James, and how all the characters went out of character in the 2A finale.....
ReplyDeleteBut that said, I agree that Logan Pierce is definitely a make or break to the Machine team, and I think he's written to be on the good side LOL~ Someone to save John and Finch when they can't themselves... Might even become the contingency LOL~~
That was Arrow ending was just plain awesome. Enough for me to vote Arrow.
ReplyDeleteI thought Alex and Jo making animal noises was a horrible scene. She seemed so immature.
ReplyDeleteI was too slow to get my picks in this week, but I have to mention ABC's Castle and the great scenes between Senator Bracken, Kate, and Rick. My favorite was Bracken and Rick in the viewing room while Kate was interrogating the suspect, with Rick saying he would have "stood and watched" Bracken being killed by the car bomb which Kate saved him from
ReplyDeleteMy notables this week.... That conversation when Pierce introduced himself to Finch, James and Cyrus naked argument, the "Underneath the Tunes" segment, Fitz killing Verna, That last scene in Arrow.
ReplyDeleteAlso on my list:
The Following - the most powerful scene in that ep for me was the video of the kidnappers teaching that little boy how to kill. That was the most chilling scene I've seen in a long time.
Scandal - was LOADED with awesome scenes - Hawk in the elevator, Hawk when Quinn comes in with her $5K, Harrison and Abby(?) just before she gets in the elevator.
For the record... my least favorite, of the scenes mentioned here (for shows I watch) I did NOT like Steve seeing the ghosts of the fallen cops including his father. It was out of place for this show. Just didn't work for me at all.
I agree with your picks... for me, any scene between Beckett, Castle and Bracken (but particulary Beckett and Bracken, for the brilliant acting) is a winner one!
ReplyDeleteJustified - Boyd/Raylan scene in the cabin. Perfection. The Parks and Rec food poisoning scene was hilarious great use of physical comedy. Finally Being Human UK and the scene when Hal confronts Crumb in the office and you realise just how messed up Crumb as a vampire is.
ReplyDeleteLet's see...
ReplyDeletePERSON OF INTEREST - Really, this episode just worked as a whole. The introduction of a possible recurring new "threat", Reese basically giving away Finch's 10 million just to annoy the POI, Finch and Ingram discussing the irrelevant list and Nathan taking matters into his own hands... All of these would do. I also liked Ingram's quote "If we don't change the world, someone else will".
THE FOLLOWING - I didn't like this week's episode much, but the last scene gave me chills... Which I suppose was the point. The kidnappers teaching Joey to kill, and the fact that it was all directed at Ryan was so creepy and dark. They better find that kid soon!
THE AMERICANS - Totally my show. This week I especially loved the scenes with the two spies and their kids. "If I go into that bathroom and that toothbrush is dry..." "You're gonna WHAT?" It's really interesting to see that family dynamic that really just started out as a cover.
NCIS and HIMYM scenes, pus Hart of Dixie, scenes with Annabeth and Lavon.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the Alex/Jo howling scene.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I really liked the episode as a whole, but I could not choose one particular scene. But this one is pretty good ;)
ReplyDeleteWade, Zoe and Lavon final scene in the last Hart Of Dixie.
ReplyDeleteWell they were only trying to get back at their roommates clearly having sex above them and making noises of their own. I thought it was hilarious, tbh.
ReplyDeleteJustified - Raylan and Boyd in the cabin. The dynamic between those two is enough that I´ll be voting for their scenes every week.
ReplyDeleteBanshee - Kelly´s house burning. And every scene with Lucas Hood, that man is a pleasure to look at.
Person of Interest when Finch and Reese are talking and POI steps into view and deduces far more than Finch would like..lol the look on their faces was PRICELESS..lol but for the first time Arrow takes the top spot with one simple quote...
ReplyDelete"Moira Queen, you have FAILED this city!" i kinda ashamed to say i actually squealed and started clapping....best scene in any show for months i'd say!!
I agree on all counts!
ReplyDeleteThe whole HIMYM episode was great my favorite part actually was Barney going all Canadian and talking like he's one of them was so brilliant done. The behind the tunes was fun too. Deacon & Rayna's kiss HOT these two are on fire right now. I also pick Deeks & Kensi even though I still have to watch the episode I love these two so much that I just picked them cause I wanted to.
ReplyDeleteThe watchers being watched in Person Of Interest, The Deacon and Rayna kissing on Nashville (that was a great kiss), and the twist at the end of Arrow.
ReplyDeleteArrow, The Following, and Person of Interest get my vote this week. Arrow's ending scene was a game changer. For The Following, I would have chosen the kidnappers teaching the child to kill instead. It was brutal in a way that all the "in your face" graphic violence was not. I was not a fan of Person of Interest's episode this week, at least not as much as usual, but I found myself really looking forward to the flashbacks. I feel less in the dark now and I am worried about Ingram taking things into his own hands.
ReplyDeleteSuits - Louis telling Harvey he wants on the Monica Eaton Case and that he might talk her into dropping the case; Harvey showing Louis the records of Monica's questioning. I really like that they're starting to rebuild the Louis - Harvey relationship that has been totally destroyed through Hardmans betrayel! I miss seeing them together, their scenes are hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you, that scene between Beckett and Bracken is one of best I've seen this season. Stana and Coleman acting was amazing in this episode.
ReplyDeleteI vote for OTHER, of course.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes ! That scene was great !
ReplyDeleteYes! That was great! I totally missed it! Loved this scene, also when Donna slaps Hardman! ;)
ReplyDeleteJust a little correction. His name is Huck, not Hawk.
ReplyDeleteGiven that both Owen and Cristina are her bosses and she is a mere intern, she should have known better. So I would have to disagree with you.
ReplyDeleteThey weren't at work, though.
ReplyDeleteIf you met your boss in a social setting, do you still not give him or her a due amount of respect?
ReplyDeleteYes, I would, but do you remember what Owen did to Jo a few weeks ago when he thought she was Cristina? These people don't have normal work relationships and never have.
ReplyDeleteHe did it because he thought she was Cristina. If he knew it was Jo, he would never have done it. As I said before, we would have to disagree about the scene. I found it extremely cringe-worthy. Some may agree with you, others would agree with me. That's okay. It was an awful scene to me but a hilarious one to you. Let's leave it at that.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely agree to disagree with you! (LOL) Totally fine that we disagree.
ReplyDeleteThe whole episode was great, but I did especially like that scene with Castle and Bracken. Just shows how much he loves Beckett :)
ReplyDeleteOn NCIS, I didn't realize until the end that the whole thing was a setup! About halfway through I started to wonder though. Knocking Khan out on the plane should've tipped me off.
ReplyDeleteLOVED that elevator scene on Nashville! My other favorite scene from that episode was when Juliette walked onstage and sang the song with just Deacon. It was probably the first time that I was glad that she acted on an impulse before thinking things through.
I was gone on Monday and Tuesday so I caught up on all of my shows yesterday (well, almost all - HIMYM and Mike & Molly will be today since they're only online) and yet, I can't think of any other scenes I want to list here. Except maybe Nick dancing weirdly to Taylor Swift to try and cheer up Jess on New Girl. Love those two!
Unfortunately I'm not able to watch most of the shows live and I've actually heard about the prison break being setup before watching the episode, so no surprise for me. But what I loved the most is that it didn't ruin watching it at all. ;)
ReplyDeleteRayna and Deacon's kiss!
ReplyDeletethanks
ReplyDeleteThat was not Scandal's season finale. There is 9 more episodes left in this season.
ReplyDeleteThis last week's Episode of Scandal was not the season finale. There are 9 more episodes of Scandal this season.
ReplyDeleteI know, but It was considered the "2A Finale" by the producers to signify the difference between the front 13 and last 9 episodes~~
