Many good options here, but I went for "Finch gets Bear a friend"--cuz, if there's a Bear scene, it's probably gonna be one of my favourites. However, if I was going to go with an "Other," it would be Reese intubating Pierce with the flexible tubing from the tap: what a cringe-inducing scene! (In a good way, I mean!)
Not really a scene itself, but in the Machine's "timeline" images, it occasionally fizzled about half a second to a blue screen. As if something was corrupting it.
Or Stanton's Internet-killing virus spread far enough to reach the Machine, and while it may not go live yet, small side effects are going to start being noticed.
But if we're gonna talk legit scenes, the end with Bear in the park, and then Finch examining/breaking the watch to reveal the GPS chip, and by association, the Machine once again finding a "threat to Admin". I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him!
Other Reese saving Pierce from death in the apartment, Nathan start to save the irrelevant people, the great phrase of Nathan to Finch after the events of 9/11 'If we don't change the world someone else will' and of course the watchers became the watched.
I'm right with you there, if there's a Bear scene in an episode it's likely my favorite part of an episode, amidst many awesome parts of an episode. And no it's not because I had a dog named Bear...
I voted for "The Watchers become the Watched" only because it reminds of the Fringe's themes with advance people/tech and the Observers (Sharp and Pierce?)
Really though, I thought the episode spelled out of really important things in the series with these scenes, like the theme about technology change verses human need for connection, verses role reversals (watchers become watched), and the ability to be intrigued with a person or an idea (Reese isn't boring).
Ultimately human need for connection is probably the most important, but in terms of keeping that idea alive and fresh, it's the turning of the tables with Logan and the fact that those words come from his lips that actually made the scenes in this episode thought provoking.
Good point! Although he def seems like a threat, I can't help to wonder if he'll actually be more of a freelance character before the show is over?...Person of INTEREST could also allude to people who interesting, because the can be a key to help you too, not just necessarily hurt you. Pierce is very hard to read IMO, but I see the possibility for a character who's a victim today, a villain tomorrow, and an alley next week, depending in what he truly values most. Thinking of Alias, he reminds me of Sark in the sense that he is looking for thrills to make himself feel alive...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteThe look on Finch's face during 9-11... he's going to handle it, so get out of his way.
ReplyDeleteReese proving he's interesting and the Bear scenes.

ReplyDeleteNathan starting to save the irrelevant people was a great twist!
ReplyDeleteActually I think the best scene was where the machine is keeping track of Pierce because he is a threat to Finch and Reese

ReplyDeleteReese throwing Pierce's arm off his shoulder at the end
ReplyDeleteI noticed it too, but I hadn't made that connection yet! I think you're right!
