Nice episode, after 'Dead Reckoning' is difficult watch a usual episode, but this was good, Pierce is a interesting and dangerous character, the dynamic between him and Reese was interesting (but between both they no trust each together, very different from the relantionship between Finch and Reese).
Interesting know about Nathan start to work alone in the case of the irrelevant people, maybe because his death, Finch decide protect people.
The machine monitoring Pierce is great, like she monitoring Fusco in the first season and Nathan in the flashback last season too, maybe the billionare is a potential villain for the future of the show.
Knowing that Nathan was behind the whole Idea of Machine and he started to act on his own helping irrelevants was great, I always Love flashbacks in this awesome show.
Love Jimmi Simpson. He's a really interesting actor. It was a good ep and had a lot of really fun scenes and some really good scenes. Didn't expect Nathan to be the first John Reese. Have we finally seen how he died? Fusco and Carter. But it sits in the pack of really good eps for me. Love the specter of Logan Pierce...hanging out there.
Aww, Bear was depressed and Finch fixed it. Reese thinking Finch set him on a date (don't be so greedy he's already nudging you and Zoe together for Pete's sake). I really hope Carter gets a change of heart if she does discover just what Fusco was up to. But this was a fun episode and I really love Jimmi Simpson. I hope we see him again. We got some Nathan time which is always great. I don't know how this show does it but it just keeps getting better. Now, if we just get back to Root and Elias soon I will be over the moon.
So I wasn't sure if I was going be intrigued with our POI of the week, but Logan Pierce looks like he could pop back up at any time..."How do we keep up with a guy who breaks all the rules?"/"You just wanted to see how I work."
The opening of POI always says, "We work in secret. You'll never find us..." and the one thing I kept thinking about during the episode was what Penny told Desmond on Lost, "With enough money and resources you can find anyone." It seems like Logan is someone who could either rip them apart or hold them together.
I couldn't also to help to associate the name Pierce with the likes of Sharp...
It's also interesting that the season is highlighting individuals with high IQ's obviously playing to Finch and artificial intelligence along with romance/compatibility factors like with this Algorithmic match making site Logan and his fake competitor launch against People R Public (<-- Nice mockery of Facebook and it's creators!) -and has anyone tried to see if there is a page for People R or are Public.com???? (you know, as a tie-in interactive Easter Egg).
As I see others noticed the blue screening too! Looks like Kara's virus is beginning to do it's thing.
Little worried about Carter being obsessed with these Cops (and am surprised that she doesn't wonder why Finch and Reese wouldn't have known about their deaths, since from her perspective they seem to know so many). I'm hopeful though that she''ll learn the truth that they were dirty cops and that Fusco is stuck in regards to HR before things escalate, but this seems like something the writers are setting up.
Poor Bear, glad they could help him feel better...as for Reese, it looks like he might cheer up a bit too considering who's in the next episode! (YAY for Zoe!!!!).
I thought it was going to be hard to, but by a third way through of the episode Logan intrigued me enough that I felt POI writers did nice job setting up parts of the rest of the season, as Logan seems like he could potentially be continually dangerous, or maybe even helpful?!
I agree that Reese was great fun in this episode and he provided the right contrast to throw us off the trail of how serious this episode might actually be depending if Logan pursues knowledge about Reese, Finch, and the machine. Let alone if Logan is connected or will be connected to anyone else we already know...
Thanks! The more I think about it, the more I think episode has a lot of subtext, but I guess we'll have to wait and see if and how these ideas manifest! And so glad we didn't have to wait too long to see Zoe again!
It was definitely something I didn't suspect! It paints Nathan in better light, but makes Finch look a bit a colder....but I still wonder if Nathan's motives in that scene were good. I think I need a POI rewatch sometime soon so I can look at their Flash backs a little more carefully.
Flashbacks are really informative and awesome in this show, and usually I get back and re-watch many episodes ( I love all of them and I enjoy watching them all).
Another great episode! I really like how we are finally getting to a possible end of the mystery behind Harold and Nathan and the machine. That last flashback had me wondering if that is how Nathan died, saving that woman's life?. I also wondered if this could be the moment where we learn about Harold's own injury. Could he have showed up at the scene and ended up also getting shot??
The whole person of the week had a great twist with Pierce playing a wild game with his own people. Although he never seemed too worried about dying (that was kind of irritating), I liked how he became a threat to Harold and John. Leave it to Harold to know Pierce was too curious for his own good. I'm not so sure we will see Pierce again either but it was fun to have someone who played on the team's own level for once.
I'm not surprised tptb are going to finish up that business with Fusco and the dead cops. I think it is something they need to wrap up before the story line can continue with Fusco.
I also did not notice the blue screening! I'm not sure if anyone else has trouble understanding certain dialogue but I am constantly backing up with my DVR so I can try to figure out what was said. Most of the time I am trying to do this instead of watching the smaller things during the scene! Anyway, I love the dry humor of the show and tptb always have some great lines to laugh about.
One of my favorite scenes was when Harold was trying to play ball with Bear and Bear ignored him.:(
It is so funny how far Harold has come since John first brought Bear to the library!
Can't wait for next week! Looks like some more fun stuff with John and Zoe.:)
Did you guys notice the blue screen with binary code that appears for a couple of frames in the episode? You have to really look for it and pause. The first time it didn't really interest me, but when it showed up the second time, I took notice. It was a different code each time. Can't make head or tail of it, I'm afraid.
It appeared twice in the episode. Different code each time. I had no idea what it was. Ran it through an image search. Both images gave me the result "Electric Sheep" (something to do with fractal flames and distrubuted computing). I don't know how it's related to PoI. I'm pretty sure that's what they are leading us to; the key to it is probably the code itself. Could take a closer look, but I'm sure if it's that important, someone else will figure it out eventually or they'll reveal it themselves. :D
Ok guys. Here's what it is. It's basically text, but converted to ASCII hexadecimal. If anyone knows hexadecimal, they know it has A, B, C, D, E and F after decimal digits. To complicate things further, instead of these letters, it uses greek letters. Long story short, the first image contains text from Macbeth.
Ya! Jim 108 has been very helpful with screencaps and episode time markers!
João Paulo found that POI Brazil Fan Group on FACEBOOK has found easter eggs/codes with in them:
the first blue screen (00:03:45) talk about Bin Laden "Bin Laden Determined To Strike in US" Diary of the Presidential Chair, made by the Central Intelligence Agency and given to the U.S. President at the time, George W. Bush. The text alert authorities to a possible attack by Osama to the country. The curious thing is that this text was made 36 days before the attack on 11 September.
The second blue screen, to 00:22:25 is a passage from the Bible: "And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth ""
The third blue screen, to 00:40:16 "Types of Chemical Warfare Agents. Choking agents are the oldest Chemical Warfare agents. This class includes chlorine and phosgene, first used in World War I. These agents have a corrosive effect on the respiratory system that causes the lungs to fill with water and choke the victim."
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Did anyone else catch the Machine blue-screening?
ReplyDeleteI did. I wonder if Kara's virus thing is starting to take affect.

Great episode. Turned out the guy wasn't so bad after all. His partner was the one ruining other companies.
ReplyDeleteSo funny when he put his arm around Reese's shoulder and Reese took it off. lol
Figures the guy would put a tracker in the watch. Lucky Finch thought of it.
And aww Bear was depressed. :( Hopefully after having that playtime he'll be much happier. :)
I see too and also agree with Michelle, maybe is the virus.
ReplyDeleteme too,Things are getting even more excited, and Zoe will be seen in the next episode, could not get better, So happy to see her again :)
ReplyDeletePOI Rocks...
I think John will explain Carter about the cop, because is not Fusco's fault. And btw the dialogue between her and Fusco was great,
ReplyDeleteI believe Carter will have a change of heart considering that it was actually Reese who took those dirty cops out, and he had good reasons,
ReplyDeleteKnowing that Nathan was behind the whole Idea of Machine and he started to act on his own helping irrelevants was great, I always Love flashbacks in this awesome show.
ReplyDeletei didnt notice them. At which time did they were to see?
ReplyDeleteGood catch. I missed that. When did you see it? Near the end or when?
ReplyDeleteLove Jimmi Simpson. He's a really interesting actor. It was a good ep and had a lot of really fun scenes and some really good scenes. Didn't expect Nathan to be the first John Reese. Jim is the man, thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteI have seen it at the beginning of the show and as I recall after 20 minutes.
ReplyDeleteYAY for Zoe :) & Awesome Points DarthLocke4.

One at the start of the episode, one around 20 minutes and one before the scene at the end. Here's all three of them (unless there are more)
ReplyDeletei got to say this show is getting very very addictive.
