the show is really hitting it's stride. i think they made a smart move in focusing on the character dynamics more than the procedural aspect of the show.
i don't think this episode would've been quite as upsetting had they not done so. i was extremely tense the whole way through and honestly touched by sherlock's struggle. if they had kept with the procedural side leading the show that whole ending bit wouldn't have that punch that it did.
it's nice to watch a show and being able to root for the two leads like this.
IMHO, this incarnation of Sherlock and Watson works because it's not a weak copy, it stands on its own merits. I loved this episode, it speaks to the human side of the characters and what a welcome relief to see adults playing adults.
Liked it a lot. I felt sorry for the girl, losing her finger like that. This show is an interesting departure from the usual Sherlock Holmes incarnations, in that it examines his humanity as much as it does his brains.
Wow! What a great episode! The end was so great and Sherlock opening up and showing that he realizes the repercussions of addiction and is ready to move ahead (and put to the test, none the less) is fulfilling as a viewer. I just miss the tortoise! Only complaint, lol.
Lovely episode. Genuinely touching moments between Holmes and Watson. I didn't really care much about Emily's kidnap, but I guess it was a necessary device to show Holmes' struggle and genuine willingness to stay sober. I really do like this show a lot. And Lucy Liu's wardrobe department needs an Emmy. I'm not one for fashion by any stretch of the imagination, but each week I find myself saying 'wow that's a nice skirt/dress/etc'
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
The best one yet for sure. It's getting better and better!
ReplyDeleteITA. The show keeps getting better, loving it! :)

ReplyDeleteI loved how Sherlock is starting to compliment Watson and starting to take the sobriety serious.
