Seriously I loved the entire episode up til the end. I mean come on there gonna possibly end the series with Mac proposing to Christine, that right there ruined it for me, everything else meshed pretty great with me except if it's getting cancelled, I wish we could have at least seen a little more Jo and Mac time.
Another potentially good episode ruined by the dribble that is Mac and Christine! Why can't the writers just focus on the crime drama and maximizing the time that the main characters get on screen. So Mac, the head of the CSI team, in what is probably the last episode of the series, ditches his friends and loyal team members that he has known for years, so that he can propose to an eleventh hour character the writers forced on us viewers, a character that is more annoying than fingers on a chalkboard. This series just ended with a giant thud. But at least if it is the end of the series, loyal viewers won't be subjected to a painful wedding in a season 10.
I absolutely loved the episode, from beginning to end. Loved the narrative from Mac just before the proposal...which by the way was my favorite part of the episode. I hope we get another season, I love this show and Friday's won't be the same without it. If it's not renewed, it frees up my Friday's to do something other than watch TV.
Wow. Just.... Wow. Awesome episode. I was very undecided about what actually happened in that alley from beginning to end, and didn't see what actually happened coming. Brilliant storyline, different to the normal. Great little party on the roof, which I loved, especially Sid and Jo - as far as I know (I haven't watched the whole season) Jo is the only person who knows about Sid's illness. The last appearance from Hawkes with Adam on the roof was nice as well - hell, all of them were. Of course, the last bit with Mac was awesome. I could see it coming the second that the girlfriend of the victim didn't take the engagement ring from Mac. Brilliant lead-up to it, and the actual proposal was done brilliantly. (and if I could just refer you back to http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/02/csi-ny-season-9-season-so-far-recap.html - I don't like to brag, but my prediction at the end...)
Brilliant season finale. If the show ends here, it is an awesome way to end it, but I hope we do get a tenth season - there are so many storylines that aren't wrapped up - Sid's illness, Danny and Lindsay's baby, Mac and Christine's wedding. I can live with it either way.
Got to say that this episode rocked on so many levels. This is how an episode should be written. Not the unmitigated drivel of Valentine episode. Great story, nice tension, excellent performances from the guest stars, both the young cop, and the victims fiance. Damn good stuff. Now why couldn't all the episodes have been this good. I loved Mac and Flack getting involved in the fight at the beginning.
I am not a fan of all the relationship fluff thats been going on this season, but I have to say I thought the end bit with Christine and Mac was handled well. It was just a few minutes at the end and it didn't spoil the mood of the show, in fact to me it was nice closure for a character who was in such emotional pain when we first met him in season one. Mac's voice over was also a nice touch as we watched the team. This has very much the feel of the final ep. Just a shame the fans were short changed this season and last on the number of episodes.
THANK YOU!! I thought I was the only one who didn't care for Christine (or Lovato). Why do they always do this with this show?! Introduce unnecessary characters and focus on them instead of on the already good cast of character that they have. We rarely got to see any of Hawkes this season and very little of Sid. I too think that it's a good thing that us loyal fans of the show will not be subjected to this next year.
Thanks for the reply! The sad part is that I loved this show, and was so happy that it had been renewed for a ninth season. If I had known then what I know now, I would have much rather the show ended with season eight. Apparently the writers aren't listening to us. There was even a poll on CBS's own website last summer, asking viewers if they wanted the Mac/Christine relationship to continue. 87% of the respondents say no, they did not want it to continue. Doesn't CBS even talk with it's shows writers!? I wish instead of having to sit through Christine getting proposed to, that they would have focused on SId (one of the most underrated characters) and had him getting word that he was in remission. That would have been a much better way to end the season. As much as I respect Gary Sinise, the show is so much more than him, and certainly not about Mac Taylor's romantic interludes. Sela Ward came in as late inning replacement, and she just won the viewers over with her great performances, yet got precious little screen time. And apparently Hill Harper has had enough, becuase he is moving on to a new series. Too bad it had to end this way... guess we will have to remember the show when it was still great, before this season.
Heya! Thank you too for your reply. I know what you mean. This was one of my favourite shows for a long time and the series would have ended better if it had like last season. Wow! There was a poll and the writers still didn't care? And they wonder why the ratings are low and they're not scheduled to be renewed? Ugh! I agree. I love Sid and Hawkes. A little more time spent on them would have been so much better than the trite lovefest we were subjected to, both with Lovato/Flack and Mac/Chrsitine. I will miss this show, that's for sure, but more so for the really good five or six years it gave us and not so much for this season or most of last season. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. =)

I'm sad now. Please let there be a Season 10 somehow! :|
ReplyDeleteanother series finale episode just in case, although i have to admit this one seemed like it might be the "real" series finale.
ReplyDeleteI hope they renew this show! It is a shame Hill Harper will not be with them if they are renewed!

Can anyone tell me the whole text of "Today is life" that the young man would end his letters with?

All in all a fitting end to the show.
