With Today's Early Renewal of Supernatural we thought we'd ask Supernatural Fans how many more seasons they would like?

  1. Nope. I think season ten and then done. I'm not ready to let go yet!

  2. can you change the title to "its" please?

  3. I thought the Js were signed until 9 but I see some think it's until 10. Does anyoe know for sure?

    ReplyDelete
  4. They confirmed at a con (or several) that they signed on for two more seasons, until season 10.

  5. I am definitely noy ready to let go!!!!I love SPN too much <3 As long as it's around I am happy and I will follow it until the very end...:)

    ReplyDelete
  6. It should keep going for as long as the ratings are good, its cost effective and the J's are willing.

  7. That has to depend on the overall quality of the storytelling. I, for one, don't want one great episode followed by three or four mediocre episodes. Understanding that nobody has a magic keyboard (I haven't started selling them yet.) I would just like to see a solid story with cohesive episodes and ideas with the occasional "kick in the stomach" good showrunners can provide.

    That's all.

  8. I see you jumped in straight away, Mr DarkUFO! :)
It's difficult to answer this though.

It all depends whether the writers can keeep the show interesting or not.
NCIS and other shows have had more than ten seasons now so theoretically it isn't impossible for SPN to go more than 10 too

  9. I think Supernatural end will come when the actors contracts and up and they want to leave. It's fanbase Is stroong enough that It will stay on air till that happen. It could match Smallville's 10 seasons.

  10. I'm not ready to let go yet :)
I wasn't a big fan of ''one-year-arc'' of Season 6 and 7, and the tension was getting hard on me at the beginning of Season 8, but with the last couple of episodes and the new episode coming up, I'm really starting to feel again that the show is going somewhere :) Right now I feel the show is on a row, let's see how far it will continu. Having a multiple years arc makes me happy instead of being all rush and close by the end of one season.

So I'm more than ready for Season 9 and 10. As for beyond..well, I'll see. If J&J want to stop, make movie or just have time with their family, I'll cry my life but i'll respect it. But if they keep going, I hope we'll have another big story, evne if I'm wondering where the hell they can go without demons. The show just won't be the same without demons......

  11. While our little show who could is all grown up *sniff* I remember where there would be a nervous wait for the announcement in May of a renewal. Ahh those were the days :P I think that unless the ratings plunge to nothing-- Season 10 is also a lock. Beyond that...I don't see the boys signing Jared will be 33 and Jensen will be 37 and they might want to pursue other projects.

And I'm really hoping that there will be a final scene or epilogue scene where the boys are grey haired old men and walking with walkers. LMAO It would be a lovely send off to the fans since Jensen joked in 2006 that Supernatural would run for a lot of seasons and in the end they would have Sam and Dean as really old men still hunting. It was at the Paley Panel in 2006 I think...

  12. Yes it should be, it's gone on 3 seasons past its expiration date.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Actually, since I've heard about Jeremy's 3-year plan and the episodes are getting kinda awesome lately I'm rooting for Season 10 and then THE END!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think we need a four option for maybe. I think whether if the show should continue on for another couple of seasons or let the ninth season be last depends a lot on how this season ends. If they can get passed the forced drama and tension between the brothers, then I think show should go for it and try for ten seasons.

However, if we have to keep going around and around, then I'm not sure it should keep going. For me, it all depends on how they resolve some of the conflict they started this season and answer some serious questions (onscreen, please, let's not have another repeat round of you had to go online to know that Sam just went back to Rufus's place on his own and Don was the one standing outside Amelia's house. Seriously, I hated having learn major stuff like this second hand from random fans about what was implied but never shown in the show).

So, I guess a part of me is happy that the show is renewed, so we don't have to worry about whether or not the cliff hanger won't be resolved.(And maybe some characters will live for next season! Like Cas and Kevin?!) But I really really really DO NOT WANT THE WRITERS TO USE THIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO KEEP SAM AND DEAN IN CONFLICT AND TENSE THROUGH OUT OF CHARACTER ACTS THAT ARE FORCED! Because if they keep doing things like this, then I'm really thinking it's time to call it quits, because if the writers aren't interested in the brothers as brothers, it's time to go home.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well...I am afraid that instead of closing the gates of hell forever they might get played into opeing them entirely!!! :S THAT would be very bad for them !!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. As long as my guys are willing to do these very long day, I am willing to stay with them. Over all there have been very few eps that I don't watch over and over. I am hoping they will finally beat Arrow in the ratings. lol

    ReplyDelete
  17. I agree with what you said.
    X
If the brothers are no longer to be kept as brothers but just as two guys who work with each other, completely lacking the love and caring they shared in earlier seasons, and with story-arcs and episodes where things aren't clearly explained but left hanging, like the examples you mentioned; the figure outside Amelia's house; Sam's mysterious 'implosion' that kept him from looking for Dean and why he chose to go back to Rufus' cabin just coincidentaly finding Dean, then I don't know if I would want it to continue either.

    X

Perhaps things will get better from now until the end of this season and beyond and all this useless, joyless, needless brother tension won't rear its ugly head again.

  18. I think 10 is enough. A fine, round number, and a fine run for an awesome show like this. But like I've said before, they should give it the same treatment as Smallville and announce the 10th season as the last one. That way they can properly think of a suitable ending, and not be like "well, the ratings are dropping, let's think of a way to wrap it up."

I know that for the past couple of seasons a lot of people are complaining about a decrease in the show's quality. So yeah, maybe it's not what it was, but I'll keep watching as long as I enjoy it, and I sure am enjoying it. It has it's "meh" episodes - like any show - but it also has episodes that make me think "I'm happy they've come this far, or we wouldn't have gotten the chance to see this awesomeness". Carry on, boys!

Oh, and a little wishful thinking - I would love to see a 2-hour special episode, like this big-deal case, preferably written by Edlund ^^ (I thought about it because of Smallville's amazing 2-hour special "Absolute Justice", which was fan-freakin'-tastic. Speaking of which, it would also be nice if Mr. Welling or Rosenbaum would guest star. Just sayin').

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'd rather focus on hoping the season is filled with awesome episodes; great stories.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think Supernatural will be ok if it last to season 10, but if the actors want to keep doing episodes for me its reaaally fine (Y) <3

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks, I agree that it would be the perfect ending :) but it wasn't my idea LOL It was Jensen's really when they were talking about the show going on for a lot of seasons way back in S1

    ReplyDelete
  22. it's gonna have a 10th season,for that I'm certain.We'll see after that.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think this show should have ended 3 seasons ago, as Kripke had intended, I know its numbers went up again, but I think that's just because fans love the J's very much, and as a person who loved the show I kind of love them too, especially Jensen, I think we all need to move on, the actors have a lot of talent to keep wasting it, in a show that has nothing more to say.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I wouldn't mind next season being SPN's last if I was confident that the show had a showrunner who could give the program a final season worthy of Supernatural's legacy and its fanbase. Right now, I'm not close to being that confident in this show's leadership.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think I want to see how the rest of this season (and maybe the beginning of the next) goes first, but I'm pretty sure I'd like 10 and done.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Agreed 100%. They can't end the show until they explain why Sam didn't look and give us a believable reason. If they end after this season, I think they'll be going out on a low, not a high.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I want a final season announced cause CW has done it for so many of their shows and I think it's the only fair thing to do for any long running show. So if that means Season 10 with a final season announcement - that sounds great.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I agree about the forced tension. It shouldn't happen. There are so many options to entertain and make fans interested in the show without making drama for the sake of it as I say.

    ReplyDelete
  29. In keeping with Canon people seem to forget that the particulars about opening a gate to Purgatory, for one, you need all the components needed to open it. If Sam killed Villi for killing the virgin bankteller with Thor's Hammer why would he kill a virigin to obtain blood?
You need the blood of a native species. Seeing as there are NONE of those left outside Purgatory since the killing of Dr. Visyak and there may not have been a lunar eclipse it would make it almost impossible to open one, not counting the fact he would have received NO help from ANY Angels.
The book about Mother burned up in Bobby's fire. Why do the fans expect it was something he could do? Granted the writers did not try to explain why. I think that would have satisfied me as well as most other fans. But by now fans should hopefully remember the Canon.
I think the issue was blown way overboard truthfully. Other than finding Amelia, what do you expect? OOC? Seriously? The man, jumped into Lucifer's Cage, in story his body was revived but his soul spent possibly a hundred years or more in Hell, plus all the punishment from the 2 ArcAngels and then being re-ensouled, having Hell memories, seeing Lucifer and then having them sucked out of your dome by an Angel?
Personally I NEVER blamed Sam the character or the writers for not explaining why he didn't look for Dean. Canon wise he apparently still does have some slight Hell memories left over ( Citation needed. ) while Dean was all battle frenzied from his time in Purgatory.
I think everything from this point on will be better, but they needed to show the fans some bad, so they can build the characters back up by the end of the season. While it does create plot holes, I don't mind. At least we still have the show!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree. With as sad as it would have been, it would have been the completion of the Heroes Journey for Sam and the beginning of a new life for Dean. That was the way it should have ended.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Season 10 sounds good to me but in all honesty as long as it is doing decently in the ratings and the CW is still on the air, let it ride. There will always be #Supernatural fans looking forward to the next adventure.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Agreed. That's it in a nutshell. As long as Jensen and Jared want to keep going and the show is making Warner Brothers money, there's no need to cancel. If I stop liking it for 2 seasons in a row, then I'll stop watching it. No need to root to end someone else's fun.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The problem becomes that everyone has a different idea of quality. For instance, I hated the last half of season 4 but I know a lot of people who loved it. In the end it's a business so whenever there aren't enough viewers to make it profitable, it should go. Of course the discussion is moot if the CW itself goes under in 2016.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm still holding out hope that it will be the brothers killing Crowley in the SERIES finale, not this one. If there's three tablets, close the others first and leave the demons for the last season. That gives the show good symmetry.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'd say since there is no mention of season 9 being a last season, that it's very likely there will be a season 10. The CW loves its final seasons and if any show gets one, it will be SPN.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Amen! The brothers are the core, heart, and soul of this show. To tamper with the brother bond for absolutely no reason was a huge mistake. Here's hoping they learned their lesson and we can get drama from the plot and not out of character contrivance.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Very good point. Let's work on cleaning up the writers' room and then deal with future seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Could not agree more. I would also add that I need to be confident in a writers' room that can fulfill the show runner's vision. I want the final season of Supernatural to be its best season of all and given what we've seen so far, that would be a long shot with this combo. Is it too late to hope that Kripke passes the mantle on to someone else for Revolution and comes back when the CW declares Supernatural's final season?

    ReplyDelete
  39. While the ending of the Supernatural era will be sad, it will be a joy to see what Jensen and Jared decide to do next. I hope they will finally get a chance to show their talents beyond the minuscule world of the CW.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am confident that as long as the CW is still running, Supernatural will get an announced final season, especially if Pedowitz is still running things.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Very good point. I was thinking that everybody was on the same page as far as the timeline and attached stories were.

Even what appears rock solid can be up for interpretation.

    ReplyDelete
  42. ten seasons, and then let it end... except IF I change my mind for wanting it more :)

i like jeremy carver as the showrunner he has a good plan and i like his style. He said in a interview before if no one else knows, he said he has plans for 3 seasons (including season 8) so he has enough story and stuff to tell up till season 10. I think considering he has that knowledge and I like him, by all means go till season 10. Make that the final season just as Smallville did and end the show on the best possible note. Supernatural The complete 10 seasons sounds good.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I keep hearing about 2016 what exactly is that situation?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Me too. After the Ostroff years, anyone would have been a step up but Pedowitz has exceeded all my expectations.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The affiliates (stations that air the CW shows) are contracted until then. At that point they need to decide whether they want to keep paying the CW to air their shows or if they want to find programming elsewhere. Since most CW stations get higher ratings from reruns than they do from CW shows, it is iffy whether the CW will be able to stay on the air in its current incarnation. It is imperative that next year the CW continue getting stronger in ratings and ad revenue.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Supernatural is going stronger than it ever has. Jensen and Jared have both said for as long as we all want it. Jeremy Carver said give me AT LEAST three years, but I'd like more. Why not? There are show out there that are still on after 15 or more years. Why should the show stop?

    ReplyDelete
  48. I totally agree that neither Jared nor Jensen get the recognition they deserve for their talent. There have been several episodes that should have netted Jensen an Emmy had they not been on the CW, i.e. Yellow Fever (comedic talent), All Hell Breaks Loose part 2 (just 1 that shows his great dramatic talent). But I would really hate to see Supernatural end.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Good point about a capable writers room.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Looking back at all the seasons, the absolutely perfect time to end the show would have been after season 5 (by cutting out that last shot that shoes Sam back of course). But they continued on anyway, which is great cuz I love the show. But I think, and a lot of fans might agree with me on this, the show sort of reduced in quality a bit since then. They have had some brilliant one-off episodes in the middle, but the overall progression of the show has been haphazard and aimless. That said, since they have taken the show this far anyway (and missed the chance to end it on a perfect note) I think they should continue on with it anyway and keep adding to the already massive library of Supernatural episodes. The show is far from perfect, but the one thing they are really good at is catering to their fanbase and that's not an easy thing to do. So I think the show can easily continue on beyond season 9. I think 10 seasons would be a really good number to end on (but I can see it go beyond that as well). Hopefully they can come up with something nice to end the show on.

This kinda sounds like me criticizing the show, but I gotta add: I am a fan of the show and I still watch it.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yep, I totally agree :) Whether it goes past 10 is the question and I think that it won't most likely.

    ReplyDelete
  52. My pick for Jensen would be The End, playing yourself at a different time was Emmy worthy and What Is And What Should Never Be would also be a pick. I loved Jared in Clap Your Hands for comedy, but there have been several where he played evil sooo well.

    ReplyDelete
  53. it depends on where the story goes...

    ReplyDelete
  54. well yeah but back then they released some of them and they managed to close it soon after.Imagine how things would be if they opened it and had no control over closing it again...!

    ReplyDelete
  55. this show can last forever and forever I'll watch it and love it!!! I'm not even joking.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I agree. As long as life agrees with them and the show can last with the loyal and devoted viewers, then the show should go on as long as it can. I am thrilled that it was renewed so early this year!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Going out on a high would have been ending the show in S5, so we're past that point. Right now they should be aiming for an even 10.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I volunteer for beta testing. :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. I just think people need to get over it. blame the writers for this that it there mistake we got like 8 eps left this season something will come up but I am not holding my breath for it come out.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Because the show has been written up to season 10, I will be absolutely gutted if we do not get a renewel next year. Just imagine never finding out how it really all ends......

    ReplyDelete
  61. I think it should be the last, and they should go out with a bang!! JMHO, don't want everyone jumping down my throat, thank you.
