NOOOOO! The NBC death slot ugh. This show is dead :(
ReplyDeletePoor Bryan Fuller, his shows are constantly getting screwed over.
ReplyDeleteI think it is just another Do No Harm in the making. It will probably do better than it did (though that is not saying much), but it will be gone by the end of the season IMO. That is not a very good placement for a new show, although it also depends on who is the lead-in, I doubt 1600 Penn will still be around by then with its abysmal ratings.
ReplyDeletebesides being on NBC's Death Slot... is it going to run into summer? 13 episodes, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIt's funny only a few years ago Thursday night at 10pm was the premiere slot..oh how times change...
ReplyDeleteAnd couldn't it possibly be because the work sucks?
ReplyDeleteIt's unbelievable that a show with such a high profile creator (okay, his shows often bomb but he has a solid reputation) boasting such a great cast (whether it's the leads or some guests) gets treated this way.
ReplyDeleteSepinwall makes a pretty interesting and alarming point regarding NBC's desperate situation in that slot :
"— Thursdays at 10pm on NBC, from 1981 to 2009 (28 years, 3 shows) : Hill Street Blues, LA Law & ER.
— Thursdays at 10pm on NBC, from 2009 to 2013 (4 years, 11 shows) : Southland, The Jay Leno Show, The Marriage Ref, The Apprentice, 30 Rock/Outsourced, Prime Suspect US, The Firm, Awake, Rock Center with Brian Williams, Do No Harm, and now Hannibal."
I'd have prefered if NBC had kept it for September. Between this, Crossbones and Dracula, that's already a pretty solid lineup for next fall, even without looking at other drama pilots being made nowadays (and if they had greenlit Fuller's Mockingbird Lane to series too, that would've made 4 new dramas, they could've spared a buckload of money in this pilot season). Oh well, there's no way it will get good ratings, so we might as well enjoy it while it lasts. Hopefully Fuller, being a doomed genius, has written a proper conclusion to the story.
Nooooooo! I was begging for anything other than Thursday!
ReplyDeleteWhy the death slot? I hate Thursdays at 10pm, lost Awake and Lost Resort in the last year
ReplyDeleteNot all of his works, I guess it's probably not appealing to most people.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a bad move from NBC. I really really home the series is good and that it will survive. There has been so many bad pilots this year, I hope this is the one that I´m gonna be impressed with.
ReplyDeleteIf the show rates in 2's in the demo for this season on a thursday, I think NBC will renew it.
ReplyDeleteJust don't do Last Resort...
