I think it's good casting because he looks similar enough to the actor who played a younger teenaged/20-something version of Hannibal in "Hannibal Rising". (The film didn't do the book justice, but it did hit some of the important points in Hannibal's back story told in the novel)
Yesssss... I've been dying for a trailer for a long time. Hope we get more promo stuff (and a longer trailer) in the coming two months. Still hate it's on Thursdays at 2200, hope nbc isn't expecting incredible ratings.
This screams BADASSness! I truly hope that NBC won't only rely on ratings, but also on quality (as opposed to their treatment of Awake and Mockingbird Lane), when they make their decisions.
Mads Mikkelsen is a great actor and I think he can definitely pull this off. He is very charismatic and has a commanding presence. The last film I have seen with him was The Hunt and he gave an awesome performance (as always, IMO).
Mads Mikkelsen is a very renowned danish actor - he just won best male actor in Cannes last year for the danish movie the hunt, so he is definitely capable. I'm very curious to see him pull of an English role because I always thought he was better in the many danish movies he has done, but I did like him in Casino Royale:)
Just a little concerned about the casting. Have never heard of the actor playing Lecter. Having been spoiled with Anthony Hopkins, does anybody know anything about the actor reprising the role in this show?
I don't think they will consider "quality" if the show gets in the area of 1.3-1.5 in the demo. Now if the show stays around 1.9+ in it's timeslow, NBC may end up renewing it!
Just out of curiosity.. What do you mean by that? When I watch it I always think it couldn't possibly be more gory and gross. :p To be honest, I think they overdo it sometimes but that's just me. They actually censor some of the more graphic stuff here in Holland (I do watch the original versions).
What I meant is that viewers today are used to shows like Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and other cable shows that are much more intense - I'm not talking just about violence but also language and nakedness. So if you do a show about a serial killer you can't expect it to be completely realistic on network tv, I don't know, I get the feeling that The Following (for istance, but that's just the most recent example) could work so much better on cable, where they can say "fuck" and girls don't have to shower with their bra on.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI can't grab it here in the UK

ReplyDeleteNot a bad trailer at all! Wish it was in a different time slot, but I will def be tuning in.
ReplyDeleteСan you upload it on yor site?
ReplyDeleteLooks great. Still disappointed that we haven't seen anything of Caroline Dhavernas's character, but everything else looks really good.
ReplyDeleteWatch Casino Royale. The guy can definitely pull a charismatic villain. Going by this teaser this could be really good.

ReplyDeleteThe Hunt is a really really good film. Mads Mikkelsens part is very different to the one he has on this show, but it is so worth watching.
ReplyDeleteI´m so excited for this show. The trailer was good. I like them short and hate when they give too much away (like The Following did).
ReplyDeleteSeems promising. Solid casting. Will try this show
ReplyDeleteThe trailer is great but I fear the show will end up like The Following, ruined by the compromises a network show has to make.
