Press Release: February 11, 2013 (Burbank, California) ? The CW Network has given early pickups to three of its hit series for next season, including freshman hit ARROW, its top-rated drama THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and fan favorite SUPERNATURAL, it was announced today by Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. All three shows will return in Fall 2013.
“We said last year that one of our goals was to establish building blocks to grow on, and now with our new hit ARROW and fan favorite SUPERNATURAL on Wednesday night, and the continued success of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES on Thursday, we’ve been able to do that,” said Pedowitz. “Not only do ARROW, SUPERNATURAL, and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES perform well on-air, they’re also extremely successful for us both digitally and socially. I’m thrilled to have all three shows returning to our schedule next season.”
One of the true breakout hits of the season, ARROW posted The CW’s best series premiere since 2009 and currently stands as the network’s most watched show (4.3mil). Heading into its fifth season next fall, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES remains The CW’s highest rated series in target demographics, including adults 18-34 and women 18-34. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES also continues to be one of the network’s top performing shows digitally and socially; in fact, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES recently topped Trendrr’s list as network TV’s #1 social program for the week of January 21–27
The Winchester brothers of SUPERNATURAL will continue to fight the forces of evil for a ninth season. Since being paired with ARROW on Wednesday this year, SUPERNATURAL has seen a dramatic uptick in its ratings from last season, rising 15% among total viewers, 10% in adults 18-34 and 18% in adults 18-49.

Yay for Arrow and TVD!!! Awesome! =D
ReplyDeleteWOO! <3 Arrow. Now just reel in Nikita and I'll be happy as a bird.
ReplyDeleteYay for SPN!
ReplyDeleteNo surprises here, they were already shoo ins for renewals since the start of the season.
ReplyDeleteMe happy now.
ReplyDeleteFreakin hell I wasn't expecting this today. Fuck yeah!
ReplyDeleteCool, glad for Arrow.
ReplyDeleteVampire Diaries renews <3 YEEEEEEEEEEES <3
ReplyDeleteGratz SPN fans.
ReplyDeleteTVD *-*
ReplyDeleteNot a surprise at all but YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D
ReplyDeleteMan I just told myself I was taking one last look at the spoiler for the day before starting my homeworks.......here goes my working motivation for the day xD
Not really surprised about the shows, but the timing is way too early.
ReplyDeleteSO HAPYP FOR SUPERNATURAL!! BEST SHOW!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it way to early. We aren't left wondering when the announcement will come down and can relax and enjoy the shows.
ReplyDeleteSPN with season 9...Marc Berman will be so pissed...muahahahahahaha
ReplyDeleteGlad for all you SPN and Arrow watchers!
ReplyDeleteNah, it's been renewed this early before. At least we weren't left hanging until May again!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this will give pause to nikita fans that think it is a foregone conclusion it will be renewed because of syndication.
ReplyDeleteWaheyyyyyy! Arrow Season 2, I'm so excited.
ReplyDeleteSUPERNATURAL YES My brothers favorites will continue with the family business hunting monsters and saving people
ReplyDeleteThis can only mean that the TVD spinoff will most definitely be picked up and paired with TVD next season...
ReplyDeleteWhile Arrow I've known Arrow would be a no brainer, I am over the moon that SPN got such an early announcement this year and I happy for the TVD fans as well.
ReplyDeleteBEAUTY AND THE BEAST!!!!!! WE WANT MORE!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletespoilertv, tvbtn, deadline, tvline and few others all have the story up, but not him.
ReplyDeleteNikita?? :'(
ReplyDeletetoday i just need good news
ReplyDelete& now spn renewww
thanx mr.pedowitz
ARROOOOWWWW!
ReplyDeleteHey, that's pretty cool. I haven't started Arrow yet (I will definitely watch it though, given the great feedback I've heard), and not up to date on TVD (I still have to watch season 3 !) or Supernatural (still have to watch season 1 :D), but I'm glad for these early, obvious renewals (less obvious would be Nikita's).
ReplyDeleteHallelujah and praise the... wait, who's God now on SPN? I can't remember....
ReplyDeleteOh, hell. Praise Barrowman!
Happy for all three renewals!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is only the early renewals for its' safest shows. We'll have to wait until about April/May before they make any final decisions.
ReplyDeleteIt's early renewals for their 3 safest shows. They haven't even started with their bubble shows yet.
ReplyDeleteHappy that Arrow and TVD got renewed. Don´t really care about Supernaturals...
ReplyDeleteMaybe Supernatural will manage to equal Smallville after all, with ten seasons. :)
ReplyDeleteNice to see it renewed so early but I had no doubts that it would be.
Before Mark took over the CW always did there Early renewals in February
ReplyDeleteYes J2 have already signed on for seasons 9 and 10 so chances are pretty good will go to season 10 too. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope so cause ratings wise I don't know if they can afford another season they would be smarter to due an early cancellation and write a series finale to wrap everything up this season if they do renew it it will probably be for 8-10 episodes final season Like Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill Did
ReplyDeleteYAY ARROW
ReplyDeleteI agree. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm crossing my fingers while writing this but I too would be willing to bet that they will almost certainly get a tenth season. Who knows, even more if all concerned are willing!
Maybe even a film; why not! :)
It would be smart to wrap things up this season. A few weeks ago, I read that the chances of a 8-10 episode season are slim and ratings wise I think it is smart to end this season. GG's ratings were dramatically low, that show should not have done a final season, was such a let down!
ReplyDeleteConsidering the love of the CW to give ''Final season'' to their veterans and considering the love of the new CW director for SPN, even if the ratings are very bad next year comparing to the others shows (which would be a big surprise), I'm guessing the S10 will be there for sure :)
ReplyDeleteWOOHOO! Happy Dance for SPN!!!! Another happy dance for Arrow. I don't watch TVD, but great news for the fans of that series as well. SO glad fans of each series found out sooner rather than later this year!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!I AM SO HAPPY!!!!THIS MADE MY ENTIRE YEARRRRR!!!!SUPERNATURAL!!!!! <3<3<3
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! Not surprising but awesome to have confirmation so soon.
ReplyDeleteYAY! My three favorite CW shows have been renewed! Now can Nikita get renewed too?
ReplyDeleteSince it wasn't listed as a final season, I am very confident that we will go to at least season 10.
ReplyDeleteThat was a huge mistake on CW's part, being a 'flagship' show didn't help it out 1 bit, it needed to end, it certainly didn't need a waste of time shortened season.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Nikita fan, and I don't think that it will be certainly renewed at all. Actually, I'm pretty nervous about it. I mean I HOPE it does, but I don't think that just because syndication is coming into play that it's a done deal.
ReplyDeleteExactly, so I am hoping they will not make the same mistake twice and air useless episode, while they could've aired an exciting new show. For example, they should've aired the Carrie Diaries from the beginning of the season instead of a "farewell" season of GG, most people choose new shows to watch in September/October, increase the odds that a new show succeeds by airing it sooner.
ReplyDeleteIt was a complete waste of a time slot.
ReplyDeleteYep, so hoping they won't do it again!
ReplyDeleteYES!!!!!!!I want to see his comments from now on
ReplyDeleteWOOHOO! YAY! Congrats! Especially to SPN and Arrow! Nice job, guys!
ReplyDeleteYay, big congrats to all these shows, especially Arrow. Very impressive for a new show to be renewed this quickly
ReplyDeleteGossip Girl's final season wasn't a waste of time because at least it was scoring 0.5's and 0.6's and couple 0.7's in the Season 5 warranting a renewal for a 6th and it still scored well for the series finale. However 90210 is scoring 0.3's and 0.4's.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME, love these 3 series. Wish they had said how many eps for each.
ReplyDeleteOMG I'm so happy for the three shows, all of them are amazing :3 Supernatural yeahh!<3
ReplyDeleteWhoho! Arrow got its second season! Not that I ever doubt it, but it's good to know for sure :D
ReplyDeleteYay for Arrow, Supernatural and TVD.
ReplyDeleteYes to that!
ReplyDeleteYes!! Couldn't be happier :)
ReplyDeleteMwah ha ha @ Berman
ReplyDeleteWoooohoooo!! Supernatural and Arrow ...... Very Happy!! :*
ReplyDeleteI think it would be beyond divine intervention as well as awesome if Eric Kripke came back and directed, showran the show for a 10th season!
ReplyDeleteSO happy to hear about Supernatural getting renewed! It is absolutely my favorite show! Really looking forward to S9! And really, really hoping that they upgrade Misha Collins to a series regular next year! J2M/TeamFreeWill are the BEST!
ReplyDeleteUnlike Supernatural though, Smallville got better each season.
ReplyDeletecompletely obvious renewals so it is good to get them out of the way!
ReplyDeleteI think Beauty and The Beast renewal will depend on how Cult does. The one who does better will probably be the one that gets renewed.
ReplyDeleteSeason 9 of Supernatural baby, WOO HOO!!!
ReplyDeleteI am happy for SPN getting season 9 Its the best news I heard all day and thats the only show I see on the CW.
ReplyDeleteI knew there will be season 9, even since the beginning of season 8.
ReplyDeleteNikita is doing good for Friday shows I think. well.. maybe it's safe as well..
ReplyDeleteActually I just read his write up. He says Supernatural has benefited because of Arrow.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural benefited
OMG!!! I love TVD and Arrow. And as for the return of Supernatural I can't be more happier than now :D. I'm so in love with this show. For me it's THE Best CW Show ever.
ReplyDeleteWoot woot!!! That's great!! All 3 of my shows, just as it should be, just keep em coming!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I love my boys (Sam, Dean, Cas).i really do, but we thought last season would be the last then it got picked up. Now this season, which i really felt would be the last,(and felt it should be) But once they started sending Cas to that creepy chick and talking Men of letters, I KNEW they were gonna get picked up....I mean i'll keep watching the show religiously like i have since the pilot til the series finale, but I feel they should end it. The episodes just don't seem as great anymore.I still love the show, and never missed an episode, but it's lost something....hopefully by the end of this season it'll pick up.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the last seasons of Smallville so I can't give an opinion on those episodes, although I have read mixed comments about them, some good, some bad.
ReplyDeleteHowever that was a different show altogether.
It was a prequel that had a back story and a sell-by date. It had to stop before the 'adult' Superman came into being.
Supernatural on the other hand has no limits.
X
Theoretically it could go on forever as the supernatural world is limitless and the future of the Winchester brothers is still to be written.
X
However, it's true that the episodes have to be gripping and inspiring to keep the audience's interest, and that responsibility is all on the writers' shoiulders.
If they manage to keep the quality of the show at its highest, IMO the show can continue until the ratings and all concerned want it to.
Yes! Supernatural! I won't have to die slowly waiting to see if it gets picked up again this year. =D
ReplyDeleteHappy for all three shows. I may not watch them all, but all have very passionate fans, so pleased for them too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for TVD and Arrow! So DESERVED!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news Arrow! :)
ReplyDeleteSupernatural can last forever and forever I'll watch it and love it!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news that Arrow was renewd, I'm really enjoying the show.
I remember a lot of arrogant Supernatural fans that used to diss Smallville for going on so long. "SPN will never go past 5 seasons. Our show has a plan."
ReplyDeleteEven though I'm a SPN fan, this amuses me.
I'm not surprised. But it is good news.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural (MY BOYS) do not need Arrow or any other show for a boost in ratings. I agree that Wednesday nights move however is fantastic..because on Thursday me and the gang at the office have our SPN discussion!! SPN can have many more seasons if they stick to the cases and finally end the tablet -demon-angel business. The boys finally have a home that suits both of them and I feel for once they are really at peace with the hunting/men of letters family business. SPN is LEGACY all the way!
ReplyDeleteI predict 10 seasons for SPN!
ReplyDeleteYay for Arrow and V.Diaries, nay for Supernatural which is not so good show anymore.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping not. Sorry....I don't want them to touch that. I was glad to watch Smallville as it went for 10, no CW(wb) show has ever done that. And I was soooo impressed that Smallville did.....Supernatural on the other hand, IF they make it to 10, I feel they'll just kinda steal Smallville's thunder, unintentionally of course, but seriously sometimes when I'm watching an episode, I swear Jared and Jensen just look bored. I know they love their jobs, they love us, they love and appreciate what we've done for them, etc. etc. But I feel 10 years would be too long for them, and they probably want to go in new directions. Yea they've done a couple movies(which bombed terribly) and Jensen is into directing, but still, maybe they want to move on to other things, every actor does.....idk, maybe I just want them to feel like they need a challenge, with much better storylines and that hasn't really happened in this season yet, as far as I'm concerned. JMHO.....if you guys don't see it that's fine. But sometimes I feel that it's dragging,(I feel the same way about Bones) I mean they're already talking about closing the gates of hell forever, what's next for season 9?? Taking down Crowley once and for all, actually finding God?? Hell making Cas human permanently?? Bringing all the people they couldn't save back to life, ex. Bobby, John, Mary, Jo, Ellen?? To me it's just stretching, and I see no more story after this season. When 9th season comes....the writers better bring it!!
ReplyDeleteWhat is Cult?
ReplyDeleteSo... i don't understand, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES 5th season is coming back in how much time? it is Fall 2013..
ReplyDelete
