Cult - Flops in ratings with 0.3 demo in top 25 markets
20 Feb 2013
Cancelled Shows Ratings
Cult premiered to a 0.3 Demo in the top 25 markets, meaning only 0.3% of adults 18-49 in the top 25 markets watched Cult,
other particularly bad demos last night include Smash at a 1.1 and Body of Proof at a 1.4.

Holy shit.
ReplyDeleteWow! They are already regretting cancelling Emily Owens, which got pretty decent towards the end.
ReplyDeleteYikes, that is truly terrible!
ReplyDeletehow do they come up with these ratings?
ReplyDeleteThese are the demos I think, I'm not sure how they calculate things.
ReplyDeleteI hope the CW gives it a chance because I thought it was great. I love the mystery of it + all the actors were great.
ReplyDeletegive it chance to do what exactly?
ReplyDeleteit means 0.3% of adults 18-49 in the top 25 markets watched Cult
ReplyDeleteto die another day
ReplyDeleteI doubt it, Emily's ratings were poor (ranging from 0.3 to 0.5's for its run) they would have been wasting their money by extending its run. Not that they didnt waste money putting Cult to series anyway.
ReplyDeleteto compete with 90210 on who can flop the hardest?
ReplyDeleteI think they are the demos but as says not including all of the markets.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but this doesn't exactly bode well, even if it adjusts up to a 0.4.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! That's good - awful shows deserve awful ratings instead of being kept on life support for months.
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is awful. I guess this is good news for TCD.
ReplyDeleteit could even adjust down !
ReplyDeleteNot saying they should let Emily return, just that these ratings are even worse!
ReplyDeleteNoo, SMASH! :(
ReplyDeleteHardly, that got a 0.4 in its' 1st season. TCD has to fight it out with BatB. If anything this benefits HoD and Nikita.
ReplyDeleteIt could even sink even lower next week.
ReplyDeletethat sucks seeing as i really enjoyed it. Cult actually got my attention unlike several of the other pilots this season.
ReplyDeleteSmash was already dead
ReplyDeleteSMASH is an amazing show.. Its something different from the other shows.. It keeps everyone entertain. Hate the latest ratings.. People just don't see how good this show is. The cast is so amazing and the music.
ReplyDeleteit will probably still air out all of its episodes this season though
ReplyDeletepost of the day!
ReplyDeleteA 0.4 on a Monday with no lead in is better than a 0.5 on a Thursday with TVD as a lead in, IMO. Not to mention, The CW seems to love TCD, so I think TCD has an advantage over BATB.
ReplyDeletethey would be better off just airing repeats
ReplyDeleteThey would be better off airing repeats of shows that actually matter =P
ReplyDeleteWow, Emily Owen cancelled, 90210 get 0.2 ,Cult get 0.3 and cariies diary is not doing any good either, The CW may start to regret on cancelling secret circle, ringer, L.A complex( at least it's cheap), gossip girl or any other show that has rating at all.the CW is in real trouble, they may even need to keep Nikita on air or else they have nothing to fill the slots.
ReplyDeleteseriously, even arrow and the vampire diary has been down, only supernatural is doing steady. as much as I'd like to see supernatural being the top show of CW, I wouldn't want to see CW go bankrupt before SPN season 9.
give it a chance to grow. you can't tell how well a show will do base on 1 or 2 eps. Shows are like books sometimes, they may start off slow, but toward the middle they usually get more exciting.
ReplyDeleteIf that's the case, they would be repeating the same 3 shows.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was a given
ReplyDeleteIt's not good either way, getting a 0.4 in your 1st season is not good, especially in the long run if it continues to sink.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if Arrow is the only new show renewed at this point.
Those shows would probably sink to this level if they were kept on. Arrow and TVD are still doing well, I don't really see any new shows dethroning them at this rate and Supernatural is still going strong.
ReplyDeleteWell BaB could use extra exposure, or they could move Nikita from Friday's to Tuesday's.
ReplyDeleteWow, I think the CW executives better be put on suicide watch after the Monday and Tuesday they've just had.
ReplyDeleteQuite saddened about this. Sure, the show has some kinks to work out, but no way is it anywhere near bad enough to deserve such dreadful ratings. It's a shame when ambitious, high-concept TV tanks so badly whereas reality shows and the likes are hugely popular.
Oh well, hope for a ratings miracle next week.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but still, if it ends up like Do No Harm, I'd prefer to abandon it right away.
ReplyDeleteits pretty much assumed that HOD, Nikita and Beauty will all be renewed even with their poor ratings. Add thaose to the 3 already renewed and that leaves 4 spaces to fill which is doable. But my guess is they'll pick up 3 for fall and 2 for mid season and renew 90210 for a show final season. They dont have a choice to not renew low rated shows.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but repeats haven't exactly helped. TCD has gotten lots of repeats and yet it's still doing badly.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the CW will be adding more pilots...
ReplyDeleteYeah but regardless of what TCD's ratings are, if Cult's numbers were in the same ballpark, it would be in the race too. With Cult flopping completely (sadly), it's out of the competition so that's good news for TCD.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing 2 of the 3 - HoD, BatB and TCD - will get renewed, with HoD's prospects looking considerably better than the others'. If for some reason The CW gives 90210 a final season, though (don't ask me), they could conceivably cancel both BatB and TCD.
A lot more at the rate they're sinking.
ReplyDeleteSurprising no one
ReplyDeletethey could do a risk and premiere more new shows next year in all new nights, The Originals wont need much promotional if it airs after VD
ReplyDeletefor example:
Monday - Alien Night:
8 PM: Oxygen
9 PM: The Hundred
Tuesday:
Hart of Dixie
Supernatural
Wednesday:
Arrow
The Tomorrow People
Thursday
The Vampire Diaries
The Originals
Friday
Nikita
Beauty and the Beast
TCD is a cute show but at the same time very juvenile. The CW has done better with shows that are for a young audience but at the same time also attract a more mature audience, even GG felt more mature in the beginning than TCD does atm.
ReplyDelete+ why are we all so surprised that Cult is a flop? the CW is not doing well for quite some time now, no matter which show they put on the air. Already predicted that it would not survive. They better hope that quite a number of pilots are great enough to put on the schedule next season. Guess it is good news for HoD and maybe even Nikita, keep them on the air to have less open spots to fill...
Exactly, I think 90210 will probably be renewed, but I have a feeling it will air in the Summer. Or, The CW will just order 4-6 more episodes for this season and continue airing it till it's finished.
ReplyDeleteI could see HoD getting another season. As for 90210, I don't think a final season would help, it certainly didn't help GG.
ReplyDeleteMonday
ReplyDelete8-New Drama
9-Hart Of Dixie
Tuesday
8-New Drama
9-Supernatural
Wednesday
8-Arrow
9-New Drama
Thursday
8-TVD
9-The Originals
Friday
8-Nikita
9-Beauty and the Beast
4 New Dramas for fall, 1 additonal for mid season and possibly 90210 short final season as a mid season replacement if something fails otherwise airs in the late spring/summer
TCD brings nothing new to the table, the only gimmick it had was Carrie Bradshaw in the 80's, otherwise it's nothing but a tired laundry list of cliches. GG at least had more interesting characters when the series first started before it went down the drain.
ReplyDeleteCult barely had much activity, so I knew it wasn't going to do well, but it did worse than I thought it would.
The best new pilots (from the description) are the selection, tomorrow people, oxygen and the hundred.
ReplyDeleteThey should put the show with a hot lead male who can act with supernatural. Not to sound shallow but the look at shows like supernatural and arrow, one key to success is a hot male lead that can act.
I like the vampire diaries but the the originals will probably flop the cw shouldn't waste their time on it the should pair the selection with vampire diaries because they are both targeting teen audience.
If the keep 90210 and hart of dixie they should be on the same night because they both suck. But i think they should really cancel them both.
Beauty and the beast and nikita should be on friday because their fans will follow them anywhere and lets face it they are both fan based shows.
Haven't watched Cult yet, will tonight.
ReplyDeleteAbout TCD, of course the only gimmick was Carrie Bradshaw in her teens, but they could've done a better job than this. The whole Thanksgiving episode was boring, it determined that the girls miss their mother and that their dad is not really aware of that, nothing we didn't already know about them.
But it doesn't everyone who watched the pilot online right?
ReplyDeleteI'm just saying that's all they had to offer, everything else was 1 predictable cliche after another.
ReplyDeleteThe last episode was definitely the worst, it was already obvious from the series premiere trailer, this was just a waste of time.
I heard Cult was confusing from some of the people that actually watched it.
It might be time for the CW to expand its target market, As a female I am rarely interested in what they have to offer up new. Vamp Diaries is the last thing that appealed to a descent size market, but that's just my take. And even this show is not broadly watched.
ReplyDeleteno it's dying because no one is givng it a second chance! (which it deserves)
ReplyDeleteThe CW might be in trouble. Gossip Girl ended, 90210 and Emily Owens MD are almost definitely cancelled. Carrie diaries, Nikita, Beauty and the beast and Hart of Dixie are in danger of being cancelled.
ReplyDeletePoor Rockne. At least you still have Defiance. Please don't suck, Defiance.
ReplyDeleteBring secret circle back!
ReplyDeleteMight be? They are in trouble and they're not getting any better.
ReplyDeleteI knew this wouldnt do well.. the CW needs to figure its stuff out..
ReplyDeleteHas anybody considered that this could be the direct result of leaking the pilot online ahead of time? I wonder what the rating would have been if you factored all those people into it who watched ep 1 on the internet when it first came out a couple of weeks ago. So I don't think these numbers mean a thing, the next few weeks will tell the real tale.
ReplyDeleteOk, so just watched Cult... not going to watch another episode! I don't understand why they said it was the best CW pilot they've seen in a while. It was weird and confusing, seriously DOA.
ReplyDeleteConfusing seems to be the problem of the show and why it's not doing well.
ReplyDeleteI guess, but it cannot be the only thing, people tune in and find it confusing, but people didn't tune in at all, the 900,000 people who did watch think it is confusing and might not tune in next week. A show within a show can be interesting, but make sure you explain at least something in the pilot.
ReplyDeleteYeah, confusion seems to be 1 of the biggest problem, that, the dead timeslot, and the lack of promos/hype that the other shows had.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet Heroes stayed with us for 4 seasons....
ReplyDeleteagree with you. They should be getting back Secret Circle
ReplyDeleteI think dixie is doing well, especially when I saw Live+7Days rating, it's always got 0.9
ReplyDeleteOuch!.... though to be entirely fair I do think it may have done better if it had a better companion show. AS much as I love HoD they don't fit....
ReplyDeleteyup. season 1 had potential
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong. Out of those 4 shows that are 'in danger' a max of 2 will be cancelled. The CW can't afford to cancel any more. And 0.9 is only good considering the rest of the CW's lineup, most of which are doing badly.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how much that had to do the fact that they put the pilot up on line. I didn't watch the first ep because I'd already seen it. My cousin's who were looking forward to it because it of Robert Knepper. Unfortunately, they weren't impressed. Hopefully the numbers will improve next week.
ReplyDeleteIt started off well, but it quickly declined.
