  2. Unbelievable. Tracy Spiridakos nominated for Best Actress? In one line with Mireille Enos and Anna Torv? Jennifer Carpenter as Supporting Actress? Supporting who? I don't think that these guys watched TV this year.

  4. Well, those are genuinely good nominations.

But as always with this type of thing, it cannot be perfect. Why ? Glenn Close and Claire Danes are left out (Damages and Homeland are thrillers, therefore eligible given some of the nominees) while Tracy 'wood' Spiridakos is here. Her co-star Giancarlo Esposito will have a face off with his former co-star Jonathan Banks, and I'm rooting for Mike (sorry, Walter, even if you made me cry twice in the Fringe finale, that's Mike we're talking about, and John Noble already won).

You know they're cool because they nominated the great failed pilot Mockingbird Lane. Not that it will make NBC reconsider — although it should, Mockingbird Lane got 1.5 on Halloween Friday without much promotion, pretty good when you see how screwed they are now with Smash, Deception and Do No Harm. May Hannibal be a hit, that would save Fuller's season (and NBC's midseason).

Very happy to see that some very underrated films got in here, such as Killer Joe, Compliance and Ruby Sparks, as well as big films overlooked by major award shows because I guess they don't belong, such as Cabin in the Woods, Looper, Chronicle, TDKR and Ted (I'd be happy for Seeking a Friend too, but that film was a big disappointment. That reminds me I have yet to see Safety Not Guaranteed and Cloud Atlas.

Surprising and nice to see La Fée (The Fairy), Poulet aux Prunes (Chicken with Plums) and Cloclo (My Way) nominated in best international film. They don't strike me as belonging to sci-fi, fantasy, thriller or horror, not at all actually, but they're all very good.

In order, very tough picks but I'd chose : The Avengers, Ted, Argo, Skyfall, Killer Joe, Matthew McConaughey, Zoe Kazan, Christoph Waltz, Anne Hathaway, Chloë Grace Moretz, Rian Johnson, Quentin Tarantino, Skyfall, TDKR, My Way and ParaNorman.

As for TV, I wish I would mention more than 3 shows but they really do top every category they're in : Fringe, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston, Anna Torv, Jonathan Banks, Jennifer Carpenter, Blair Brown.
