  1. For me it was A Little Slice of Kevin, because it had everything: There was Castiel returning, there were Trans, Crowley, Samandriel (poor baby boy!), Sam and Dean seemed to forget their issues ang worked as a team AND most importantly, the scene in the end, Dean dealing with all of the Purgatory stuff, it was beautifully acted out (I still get shivers when I hear Jensen say that line... "I don't need to feel like hell for failing you, like I fail every other godforsaken thing that I care about."). I want more episodes like that. I liked the following one (Hunteri Heroici) too, and Blood Brother and the season premiere (We need to talk about Kevin) were not that bad either. What's up, Tiger Mommy was interesting too - I LOOOVED the Purgatory scene with Dean FINALLY hugging Cas, and Mrs. Tran getting a tattoo hehe :). I didn't like Bitten, but I could deal with it. However, the Garth episode (Southern Comfort) seemed a bit forced to me, and it wasn't that funny. Heartache was not that great from the storyline point of view (I get that this is the original format of the show, but after 8 years, it gets old). And I was definitely expecting more from Citizen Fang, seeing it was the mid-season finale, but I was a dissapointed.

  2. "A Little Slice of Kevin" I think.

  3. I'm really loving the addition of Benny, his clothes, his accent, his past, his humor, his whistling :) I hope he gets even more scenes in the second part of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  4. This one was HARD..I went with Citizen Fang, but I also loved Blood Brothers because I enjoy the flashbacks. A Little Slice of Kevin would be my 3rd pick.

Am shocked that Bitten is not at the bottom of the list..it is my least favorite ep ever. In the poll the day after it aired, almost as many people did not like it as did. I had never seen that before for a SPN ep.

  5. A little slice of Kevin was very emotional. Especially the Dean/Cas parts. But I also loved Hunteri Heroici aka Team Free Will. More of Sam, Dean and Cas working together pls :)

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm with you, Benny is an excellent addition to the show. I had the same thought when Castiel came on in season 4, thought he just added a needed punch, and he is still my favorite character, after the boys of course.

Hunteri Heroici- Did you see that freakin' episode. IT WAS AWESOME.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I went with "A Little Slice of Kevin" because it was very emotionally satisfying. "Hunteri Heroici" was another favorite, because TEAM FREE WILL. I really enjoyed purgatory flashbacks, but those are scattered throughout episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I agree. I would go with Citizen Fang, Blood Brothers, and then Hunter Heroici. Bitten would most definitely be at the bottom of any list I might make.

  10. There were a number of likable episodes but no standout favorites so far. I went with Tiger Mommy because the auction was fun, it advanced the mytharc, and there was lots of Sam and Dean interaction with Crowley.

    ReplyDelete
  11. And it must be said about Heartache, Jensen is a great director.

    ReplyDelete
  12. A lot of good ones so far this season. I liked what's up tiger mommy. The auction was great and Crowley and mrs tran were hilarious.
But I had to go with hunteri heroici. I just love cartoons and it spoke to the child inside me. I always love the episodes that can make me laugh

    ReplyDelete
  13. A little slice of Kevin. Why? Because Castiel return. Dean was so unhappy because he was gone and now it's change. And their conversations were so emotional. SPN is always better when Castiel is in episode.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Haha, guess I really dont have much new to add to the comments. 'A Little Slice of Kevin' was great, emotionally - especially the Dean/Castiel moments. And Hunteri Heroici comes at a close second. Glad they are the top two!

    ReplyDelete
  15. A voted for "A little slice of Kevin". It had it all I like in SPN: Dean and Cas bonding, amazing scenes between them, Dean and Sam working together, Kevin and Mama Tran, Crowley, Samadriel, drama, action, myth plot, funny in some moments.

I love Hunteri Heroici too, it's what I like SPN to be: filler episodes full of Team Free Will action, working together as the family they are, being sassy and funny... and you know, Dean being a chick flick with Cas in a motel room ;)

I'm waiting for more episodes like those!

PS: What's up tiger mommy has the HUG!!!!!!!! So, I need to point it out too. 3rd option.

    ReplyDelete
  16. So I voted A little slice of Kevin and Hunteri Heroici would be the second one for me... why? well it's simple, i could see a huge character development, there were emotions, it was about something that mattered, things were put out there to be solved.... And of course, Dean and Castiel's relationship was being dealt with, i feel like it's important, there's a lot about THAT rship that needs to be solved and also, I love it when Castiel's there with Dean and Sam, it feels like they're complete when he's with 'em. And c'mon, i think we all can see by now that Dean NEEDS Castiel in his life......

    ReplyDelete
  17. I went with Hunteri Heroici. I iked the parallels, the plot, the pace, the funny moments... overall it was a very good episode!

I loved seeing Team Free Will work together again and I hope we'll see more of that in the future, too.

The character development was brilliant. While we haven't found out that much about Sam and Amelia yet, the more serious dialogue between Dean and Cas was handled amazingly. Dean has come so far and made so much progress as a person, considering he used to be uncomfortable with talking about feelings (from "No chick flick moments" to "Talk to me", that's saying something!); and Cas being able to talk about what he did and how he feels about it is really huge. I hope this time Dean can help Cas heal with his support and affection.

    ReplyDelete
  18. This was hard! I've especially loved all of the mytharc episodes so far this season, so I had to pick "A Little Slice of Kevin" as my favorite. It had everything, drama, laughs, Team Free Will back together at last. I loved it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. It was a very tough choice, but I went with "A little slice of Kevin", because it's a very emotionally rich episode with great action and all my favourite characters, with some amazing Dean/Cas AND TFW moments. "What's up tiger mommy" and "Hunteri Heroici" came very close, but really, there wasn't a single episode this season that I didn't absolutely enjoy. I really hope for a continuation of the great relationship development between Dean and Cas and I would tremendously support the two going into romantic territory; I really hope Dean and Sam can each process their current situations and come out of them with character development and find a way to resolve their differences in some sort of compromise; and I'd really, REALLY like for all the awesome new characters to stay! : ) Season GR8 has been absolutely freaking amazing so far, at least for me.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I voted for What's Up, Tiger Mommy, because of the purgatory scenes, because of Cas in there - heartbreaking, beautiful, well-written and the acting was supreme both from Misha and Jensen. Hunteri Heroici is second favourite.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Tough to choose between Hunteri Heroici and Little Slice of Kevin. I went with HH in the end because I really appreciated the development in that one of Dean and Castiel, both of their separate characters and their relationship together (I'm never getting over how wonderful that 'talk to me' scene was!) and also how Sam's story tied in to it all as well. Team Free Will ftw :) But really I consider HH and Little Slice of Kevin equal - both were great, emotional episodes, full of character growth, drama and fun moments of humour :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. A Little Slice of Kevin, definitely. There was action and drama and emotion, and Cas being all badass. I've watched it a few times and it's still really enjoyable.

I'm glad that "Bitten" isn't at the bottom of the list, I liked that episode quite a lot, and have talked to a few people for whom it's their favourite of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  23. A Little Slice of Kevin for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hunteri Heroici because well, TEAM FREE WILL. Because Castiel's and Sam's storylines coming together beautifully, because Dean and Castiel's heart to heart talk, Dean's amazing character growth and him being happy for the first time in a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  25. A Little Slice of Kevin and What's Up Tigger Mommy. The Trans and Dean & Cas interation are the best things for me this season. Also Samandriel.

    ReplyDelete
  26. This season has been doing so great. There wasn't one single episode I disliked. Good job,SPN!

    ReplyDelete
  27. "A little slice of Kevin", because of Castiel. I like, when he shows, that he's an angel, badass. And his wings - I definitely want to watch more Castiels wings! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. If season 8 keeps giving me great eps, it just may knock season 4 out as my favorite season. Bitten is the worse ep of SPN ever, for me, but the others have been super.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I had a hard time choosing between those two episodes, as well, and, like you, consider them equal. I finally went with HH because that wonderful old lady popped into my mind, tipping the scales in her favor.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Citizen Fang. I can't believe more people haven't voted for it. I thought it was quite brilliant.

Also, I find it rather annoying that some people think that Castiel showing up equals a good episode. I love Cas, but there's more to SPN than just one character.

    ReplyDelete
  31. There's more to SPN than one character, AND Castiel showing up makes for a good episode. Both can be equally true. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. A Little Slice of Kevin; Cas and Dean talking about what really happened when Dean left Purgatory, Kevin Tran and his mother, news about Metatron. It was a really great episode.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I LOVED Citizen Fang, that was AWESOME because of Benny.
i really like Benny. Can we talk about his bond with Dean?
And he has a great voice too, lol
(I ship Destiel, but Denny is very powerful as otp, must admit!)

    ReplyDelete
  34. A little slice about Kevin. For those who complained, I will say it's not because of Castiel. I choose this because The storyline is more interesting than the episodes before. Okay.. except for Amelia story. not interesting at all

    ReplyDelete
  35. A Little Slice Of Kevin, followed by Hunteri Heroici. HH surprised me very much. I don't normally like the strange episodes, but this one was done really well. Both had the old Team (original members of Team Free Will) working together. Always my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Cas is one of the reasons season 4 is my favorite, the Angel/Demon story line just gave a punch to my already favorite series.

    ReplyDelete
  37. haha, agreed! Even though I want to see the brothers finally find some common ground again, Team Free Will is the best. One does not exclude the other, at all.

By the way, the Dean/Cas parts have been the most emotional for me this season so far and I hope they continue to be this great - and more... ; )

    ReplyDelete
  38. I guess Bitten, Heartache and S. Comfort feel like only a filler to me, not much progress (not even on a brother front). I liked Dean's freakout in S.Comfort, but then they promptly had him forget he ever said anything, so that was a let down too :/

    ReplyDelete
  39. Are they not always. Sam doesnt have emotions he just tells us everything in one line monologues I havent really loved any episode so far , some have been ok like Hunter Heroic but this season as done little for Sam and his story with Amelia has been well not very good .

    ReplyDelete
  40. we do :D

Dean, Sam and Cas together in an episode is the best!

    ReplyDelete
  41. there is more, but Castiel makes them better :P

    ReplyDelete
  42. Can't decide! Really I can't! :'( So far I'm loving the new season :D I find each episode equally awesome (well maybe except Heartache which I though it lacked something compared to the others). NEW EPISODES Y U NO COME SOONER D:!

    ReplyDelete
  43. A Little Slice of Kevin. It's been the only episode this season that hasn't been average or poor (Bitten being the poor one).

Wanted to say that I for one am really enjoying the Amelia storyline, and I hope that it continues and that she doesn't get killed off to satisfy the fans, because this show does have that history.

Also pushing for more Dean/Cas moments... This season is all about the boys growing and changing as people and becoming more independent, and this does not mean "OMG, they are destroying the brotherly dynamic!"...

It means that the showrunners are allowing Sam and Dean to expand beyond the scope of their own codependent relationship and be their own people.

Both of them having a healthy outside relationship (Sam with Amelia, Dean with Cas) would do miles for that, without destroying any of the things that are key to what makes this show great and started everything off (saving people, hunting things, family business, etc.)

Amelia is already a much more dimensional and interesting character than Lisa, and Sam is actually legitimately in love with her, so I think they have a much better chance, and there is countless bits of evidence in canon that Dean and Cas are pretty much in love with each other.

    ReplyDelete
  45. A Little Slice of Kevin because of all the Dean/Cas moments. <3

    ReplyDelete
  46. For me, it was a pretty even tie between Hunter Heroici and A Little Slice of Kevin. Since Castiel is my favorite character, his presence in those episodes influences my decision. However, it is not the only factor. I thought the stories were exciting, the character interactions (between Cas and Dean, Dean and Sam, Sam and Cas) were gratifying, and the plot progressions were intriguing. In the end, Hunter Heroici won out, because it fulfilled a dear fantasy of mine: Team Free Will on a regular case, together. It was just the right mix of light-hearted and sincere. Plot-driven character development is my favorite aspect of any show, and this episode had it in spades. Also, the acting of the main trio -- Jensen, Jared, and Misha -- never fails to captivate me with their subtleties and chemistry. The third major contender in my decision was Citizen Fang, because I love Benny, and it was just a gripping episode, overall. Ty's performance is always a joy to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  47. For me there isn't a best, for they are all mediocre, however there is a worst and that is Bitten.

I sat through it dying for it to finish but it just dragged on and on and on, seemingly neverending. I will never watch it again.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think the arguing has been dragged too long with no real good brotherly moments this season besides some small ones in ALSOK and HH.

And yeah, those 3 were too empty. There was no progress in any way- emotional or plot wise, and they just highlighted the brother fighting, put it up front when I wanted it squashed so badly.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sam&Amelia drags the story down a bit, even though I don't exactly hate the storyline. The main problem I have with it is that /it's just so slow/, when there's more intense things going on at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  50. According to this poll, I have yet to see the best three episodes of this season. This comforts me somewhat.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I wish he got more interesting episodes to direct. Weekend At Bobby's was great.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah, it's hard to be interested in that plot line when there are more intense things going on.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It wasn't bad for me, but it also wasn't SPN with the characters we love. As a standalone, it was ok -- nothing special, but also not bad. The main problem I had with the episode was that the characters just didn't interest me, therefore I didn't care for them much in the end.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Looks like I spoke too soon about Bitten being at the bottom of the list... :(

    ReplyDelete
  55. I Just can not decide... Except Heartache I loved every one....

    ReplyDelete
  56. To me there was no reason for that story in the first place.
The characters were just thrown in and there was no way I could ever have been interested in them and quite honestly they weren't particularly appealing, but we're all different and one man's meat is another man's poison, as they say!

It just feels like the writers wasted an episode when they could have given us more back story on the brothers.

    ReplyDelete
  57. What I don't get is how purgatory gets 10min tops in an episode, yet they give some random characters one whole episode. I realize it probably has something to do with J2 wanting some time off (or so I've heard), but still...

    ReplyDelete
  58. Sam does express himself with words more often than the other two, but I think his emotional depth is just as compelling -- though you have to look harder for it. Dean wears his emotions on his face, and Cas somehow manages to emote with his whole body -- but Sam is subtle. I really enjoy Jared's acting choices a lot, this season and the last in particular. :) I really feel for Sam's predicament, at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  59. It's also kind of annoying when people imply my personal reasons for liking an episode (ie Cas or great color choices or lots of blood) is stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I said the same thing, if they did not want to do 23 eps, they should have said so instead of this waste of an hour.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Why there is Bitten hate?? Bitten was brilliant.

    ReplyDelete
  62. It is definitely easier to pick the worst episodes this season so far than the best. I am still waiting for an episode to knock it out of the park but for the most part season 8 has been lackluster and subpar to me. I'm torn in my vote between Blood Brother and Citizen Fang. Still Blood Brother had that oh-so-annoying sappy love subplot so I guess Citizen Fang gets my vote by default. I thought Citizen Fang had a great plot and it looks like we might be getting some movement on Sam's story, although I'm not sure which direction that is. I also liked how sympathetic Benny was in it. Mostly though we finally came back to the heart of Supernatural which is family. Too bad it was Benny's family that provided that foundation.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yes, I've heard about this 'more time off' thing.

I don't know whether it's true or not, but if it is I'd be rather disappointed in the the J's because to me that seems to indicate that they are less invested in the show and more in their free time.

I mean they do get time off, week-ends, three months in summer, holidays etc.etc, and it's not as if they work down a mine-shaft or anything. They always say how they love the SPN set they work on

There are at most another two years of SPN to go and after it finishes they have all the time in the world to take things easy.
    X
Anyway it all comes down to the viewing public.

If the ratings stay steady okay, but if the viewers start to drop off and it gets cancelled, then everyone concerned with the show is going to have plenty of free time but without a pay-check.
    X

I know I watch for the brothers and their brotherly bond and there has been very little of that this season, only pointless brother hating.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Agreed. At least they would have spared us this episode!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I dont think people want to keep looking harder and it isnt about subtle . The Amelia story has not been compelling and we have had very little exploration of Sam in that sl and the flashbacks outside of one lines. I dont think Sam being subtle catn keep being used it can simply be down to poor storytelling.

    ReplyDelete
  66. The season tends to be different when you view it in retrospect, there are usually lots of filler episodes in the first ten episodes of the season, and then things start to kick off.
In every season there's some brother drama at the beginning and then they eventually patch things up, coming out of it stronger than ever, and in that regard I believe all will work out fine. It's the wait between the episodes that makes it seem like it goes on forever.
I remember Carver saying he has a story arc in mind that spans three seasons, that's probably the reason brother conflict lasts a bit longer this time.
I don't know if many would agree with me, but I kind of think it's necessary for them to sort out some of their issues and finally get it out of their system. Dean's martyr complex and Sam's sense of entitlement had to be addressed at some point in the series, it was getting kind of redundant and repetitive I firmly believe they'll get out of this stronger than ever.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Before i saw the episodes I was annoyed with the plot lines proposed by the writers, especially the Sam not looking for Dean arc which then set off all the bad feeling between the brothers but now that I have seen them all, the only emotion I feel is disappointment..

There's just something missing and I can't put my finger on it.

It's as if the whole show is out of phase and lacking in energy.
    X
I've enjoyed all the previous seasons, apart from the occasional episode and I have never felt the apathy I feel towards these current episodes.

    X

The Benny character is well played, apart from the false southern drawl which is rather annoying; Amelia hasn't got any more sympathetic from the first episode to the ninth; Castiel in my opinion has given all he has to give and Kevin and his mother are highly irritating, as is Garth/wannabe Bobby.

Naomi has been thrown in without any explanation and she has once again the 'corporate look' so favoured by the SPN writers, a female Dick!

Honestly the only one I really have enjoyed on-screen has been Crowley. He's the only one who seems himself and who is good to watch

The brothers too just seem all wrong somehow.

I hope the future episodes will pull the show together again.
    X
Strangely enough the one line that's stuck in my head is in 8.02 when Sam looks at the Impala as if to say they can use her as payment in the auction and Dean nswers with the line:-
'Say it and I will kill you, your children, and your grandchildren."
I thought that was such a funny thing for him to say.

Sam has never talked about having or wanting children and I would have expected Dean to say something else like 'I'll gank your ass.'

Is this one of Carver's perceptions of Sam's future. I wonder?

    ReplyDelete
  68. I have to disagree with you here, a lot of their "time off" is going to Cons and conventions, meeting fans and most of their work days are 12-14 hours long. After 7 years I am sure that gets very hard. I don't know how actors do it, having to go thru the same scene over and over and working up tears if need be. I don't think they get paid nearly enough.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Yeah lots do. They just don't tend to visit/comment at this particular website usually because reasons. I think this poll got promoted other places though.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I loved 'A little slice of Kevin', 'Hunteri Heroici', 'What's up, tiger mommy?', 'Bitten', 'Citizen Fang', 'Blood Brother' and 'Heartache' in that order. I'm loving this season, especially the love subplot. It feels fresh for me. I love to have Sammy with a human storyline and the romance. :) I love that Castiel is back and that Dean and Castiel are finally on good terms again and I love Benny and Amelia. Everything has been awesome for me this season and I hope it continues getting better and better. :3
ps. I would have loved Sam to stay with Thor's Hammer, that was cool.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I have a love/hate relationship with this season so Hunteri Heroici wins because it had all the thinks I like and none of the things I don't!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I haven't voted in this poll. I can't remember what any of the episodes are about, except the very worst SPN episode ever (Bitten) and I don't want to have to go look up each episode synopsis. Usually, I easily recall the plots of each episode, but this season is not memorable. Sigh

    ReplyDelete
  73. What you say is true. There is not one episode that stands out except Bitten and that's only because of its badness.

The other ones just seem all the same, nothing particular is happening in them except the on-going brother hating . :(
