CBS has added a medical drama to its mix of drama pilots, greenlighting The Surgeon General from Lie To Me creator/executive producer Samuel Baum. Baum wrote and executive produces the CBS TV Studios-produced project, which centers on Dr. John Sherman — the most powerful doctor in the nation, the Surgeon General, who has 315 million patients. As “America’s Doctor,” Sherman and his team battle the powerful forces of politics and business, fighting to protect the health of everyday Americans.

Stop it...with the damn...medical dramas. People are FINALLY starting to get tired of them. I grew tired of them years ago when every network had two or three of them running at one time. Let the genre die already.
ReplyDeleteNot another medical drama! CBS has already got good shows, high ratings...why mess with what's not broken! Leave our shows alone!
ReplyDeleteThe temptation to make this a soapbox for whichever politics the show's PTB subscribe to will likely be too great. A weekly hour long campaign about ObamaCare (whether for or against) does not sound like riveting TV. I'm really not into medical dramas anyway so for me it's a pass.
ReplyDeleteThe surgeon general doesn't have actual patients. This sounds more like a politics show and except for West Wing those are always unpleasant.

ReplyDeleteTrue. We've all been "David E. Kelley'd" too many times already.
Generally I like medical dramas... this however doesn't sound too appealing to me seeing as it's more about the politics of medicine and less about the medicine.
ReplyDeleteAnother medical drama? No thanks.
