The Glades has kept this relationship going in spite the fact that it defies all logic and reason at this point. It's disappointing to say the least. It's also starting to be a drag on the series. By the end of the season, I was hoping they'd keep Starke (and her inappropriate, non-functional attire) and ditch Callie, whose role has become sadly superfluous.
It would be an interesting move and one that I think would benefit the series. It never makes sense to keep a character as a series regular on a procedural when they're not part of the "procedure" aspect.
Unless they can reintegrate Callie back into the law enforcement aspect of the show (like they did when she had the made up title of "forensic nurse") she's always going to be a square peg.
Bruce_F - Just so you know, Forensic Nursing is an actual up and coming profession. It isn't well known, but it is definitely not made up. It is similar to Forensic Anthropology; until people see it in a television show (a tv show is based around it and/or sometime because they see it in a tv show) the profession which had previously been small and not very well known starts taking off and becoming much more common knowledge. I have a friend who went into it as a profession. Google the profession, my friend, if you do not believe me. There are seminars available if you're interested.
As to the show's return, I also can not wait until I get to see the fourth season! I am very excited. I actually do like the Jim/Callie relationship and it does not seem farfetched that they were able to keep it going. You would be surprised what good, open communication and both people trying can keep going! I frankly hope she says, "Yes!" They deserve each other and some happiness together. Going back to the foreshadowing of the psychic from season two, she said that Jim's wife would be from Tamarak (sp?), which is where Callie was born. So, I'm hoping the writers remember that little tidbit of information and stick to the Jim/Callie relationship. Besides, can you imagine what would happen to Jeff is Jim & Callie break up? He's looked up to Jim (as a father figure/male role model) for almost four years (or more) by season four. I'd hate to see how the writers try to handle ~that~ (the awkwardness, anger, resentment, etc) situation as all of them "adjust" to a possible break-up. No, they should seriously just stop "tempting" Jim other girls (who fall for him) and let Jim/Callie be happy together. ^_^
Thank you for the info, ep. I'm from a family with a medical background and know a handful of cardiologists and even they thought forensic nursing was made up. I'll definitely look it up to learn more about it.
Who can say what the draw is,but there was something left out between jim and the detective, and that is what led jim to his his proposing to cali. And if you truly care for some one, distance only makes the heart grow fonder, or that's what they say! I believe season 4 will, or should fill in the blanks!
I could see cali coming back to be a doctor of forensic medicine, working with the glades police force, or atleast in some aspect of the glades police department!? Would not be to farfetched an ideal, would it?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
yay, do we have a return date yet?
ReplyDeleteNot yet, as soon as we do we'll post it in our Episode Database here http://stvplus.com/show/165/The-Glades#episodes
ReplyDeleteI'm still baffled about the ending. I don't understand how he came to that decision.
ReplyDeleteThe entire Callie / Jim relationship is baffling.
ReplyDeleteThey barely get to spend any time together anymore, and his response to that is...marriage? I really hope she says no.

ReplyDeleteHaving the character exit the show would certainly be interesting. Like Jill from Royal Pains.
