Supernatural - Song-to-Scene - 3A - Poll
12 Jan 2013
Polls SupernaturalWe're on to round three where impossible will be a daily word. As in, this poll is impossible. I don't know which to choose. Yesterday's polls were mostly decisive with O Death scoring 89% of its vote, making it the number one choice of round 2. It's a definite favorite to reach the semifinals and possibly win it all. Others going to round 3 include Simple Man (70%), The Gambler (55%), and A Well-Respected Man (60%). The sweet 16 have shaped up nicely, which only makes it harder from here on. Happy voting!

1. Renegade - While I am really glad that Silent Lucidity made it this far, it is no competition for Renegade. The editing of this song-to-scene was simply awe inspiring. I love how they used the tempo change to great effect too. It starts out slow, has the break in the middle, and then picks up the pace just in time for the Impala to drive off. Renegade is going to be hard to beat.
ReplyDelete2. Both - The hardest poll thus far. Both do a great job with the lyrics. Both interrupt the song for good dialogue. Both are jarring and abrupt. Where is that coin flip website when you need it prpleight? Since I promised myself not to take the easy out and not vote, it's decision time. In the end I am going with my gut. Although I like the Bad Moon Rising scene better and I dislike both songs, I choose Knockin' on Heaven's Door because at this moment it moves me more. Wait 5 minutes and that will probably change.
3. Back in Black - Born to be Wild might have the Impala's motor running and exploding into the sign but Back in Black is her theme song for a reason. The ultimate rock resurrection song, it proved pitch perfect for Baby's return from near annihilation. The song lyrics fit amazingly well for it being a scene about a car, especially the 9 lives part.
4. Both…okay, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - This is as hard a choice as #2. Both songs did a great job with enhancing the mood. Both lyrics are slightly off. In the end I went with Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas because Don't Fear the Reaper could have had a few edits/adjustments to make it even better. Plus, you should definitely fear the reaper.
1. Renegade
ReplyDelete2. Bad Moon Rising - apparently I picked losing song, but I thought it was really creepy and fit the scene great. Can't imagine another song replacing it.
3. Back In Black - Born To Be Wild is so great, but BIB is the unofficial official Impala song for me. And it fit with the Impala just having been repaired.
4. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
I think my votes were a little sentimental, but since I ended up with the majority my sappiness isn't skewing anything, so I don't feel too guilty! :P
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Renegade.

This one is a doozy!
I like them both; two absolutely different scenes but each terrific.
I'm gonna go with my heart here and the moving Heavenly scene between Dean and wee Sam gets it because I really need a dose of brotherly love so badly!
So Knockin' On Heaven's Door' it is.
X
Back In Black.
Great S to S, although Born to Be Wild fits her down to a tee as well The Impala gets my vote every time.:)

This is another hard one, but who can remain indifferent to the Winchesters' Christmas moment? Certainly not me. :)
"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" it is.
1.Silent Lucidity..Hard to say goodbye to Renegade. While Renegade was very good, Silent Lucidity was a more permanent " we'll be watching over you, gonna help to see you through" as the lyrics offered a more permanent protection.
ReplyDelete2. Knocking on Heaven;s Door offered fandom one of its best tearing up scenes between the brothers (Dean at least). Something fans have been aching for.
3. Back in Black was a return to action with no action to return to. Born to be wild, while not perfect, brought it roaring back into the most important scene of its life.
4.Don't Fear the Reaper: "nuff said. Was borderline over the top but Black Water took care of that.
1) Renegade can't let this one go. It's my personal number one. Crying
ReplyDelete....about Silent Lucidity. (This is just going to get more difficult isn't it?
2) Knockin' on Heaven's Door This one had more of an impact for me.
....Bad Moon Rising didn't enhance that scene for me. It was there. The scene itself
....is was knocked me out of my chair.
3) Back in Black For me, personally, this is the Impala's theme song.
4) Have Yourself a Merry Little christmas The connection between the
....scene and song and me and the scene was much much stronger than
....Don't Fear the Reaper.
This round wasn't as difficult as expected. I'm really really sad to lose Silent Lucidity.
Sorry, fell down on my job. Here's the link!

This poll is killing me, I could very easily vote for all of them.
ReplyDeleteRenegade wins it for me, even though I have tears running almost as much as Sam. SIGH
Knockin ' on Heaven's Door, but I have always loved Bad Moon Rising even before SPN and it is very spooky in the scene, it will have to be second, those fireworks knockin' on Heaven's door was perfect.
I went against most fans on this one, but was surprised by how much. Born To Be Wild just seemed to fit better for me, why did Baby's songs have to end up against each other, so sad.
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas..again with tears. And awesome silent acting.
:-) Thanks. I use the number generator on this site when figuring out who wins contests.
ReplyDeleteOnce you get past the obvious "is it a good song-to-scene" I think most people will go with what moved them the most.
ReplyDeleteI think Bad Moon Rising is going to give it a race. Polls #2 and #4 are difficult because both choices are so good from a song-to-scene perspective. I expect those races to be somewhat close.
ReplyDeleteI think you hit on something. I too am very nostalgic for some brother bonding and the Knockin' on Heaven's Door scene came at a time in the series when I also needed it. Perhaps it got my vote because it gives me hope that we will see some excellent brother moments in the second half of this season too.
ReplyDeleteGood point about Born to be Wild. It did make the Impala a key character in taking down Dick Roman.
ReplyDeleteI like the song-to-scene-to-viewer connection. I think that is what it will ultimately end up being. By round 4 we should have only really strong song-to-scene choices left (music and lyrics based) so the criteria will have to change a little.
ReplyDeleteIt's killing me too. The good news is that you won't have to choose between Impala songs anymore. The bad news is that it will be up against either Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas or Don't Fear the Reaper. More impossible choices to come.
ReplyDelete1. For me no competinion - Renegade.
ReplyDelete2. Both. I'm in torn. Can't decide. End up voting for Bad Moon Rising, because is losing.
3. Born to be Wild
4. Both. For me is very hard choice. End up chosing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas because that what my heart tells to do at the moment.
