The first episode for 2013 saw NCIS draw in the highest audience in 45 episodes, with a whopping 21.11 million viewers tuning in for the 221st episode in the series.

According to the data I have, this episode of NCIS comes in at number 7 on the list of the show's most viewed episodes. This number, and all the numbers below, are from Live + SD figures only, meaning timeshifted viewing isn't included in these figures.

In the 221 episodes NCIS has aired, audience figures have equaled or surpassed the 20 million mark 25 times - or more than the number of episodes in an average season. Eight of these episodes passed the 21 million mark, while the series high audience record stands at 22.85 million, and remains the only episode to pass the 22 million mark. That episode was number 13 in season 8, titled "Freedom", and aired on February 1, 2011.

A further 34 episodes earned over 19 million viewers, but under 20 million viewers, while an additional 26 episodes earned greater than or equal to 18 million viewers, but less than 19 million viewers

Last nights episode earned a 3.5 adults 18-49 rating, which is far from a similar spot on the all-time ratings highs of NCIS. In the 3 and a half seasons I have 18-49 ratings data for, 41 of those episodes equaled or surpassed the 4.0 mark

You can see the raw statistical data, graphs and analysis of NCIS on my website, www.seriesmonitor.com/ncis

  4. CBS would be fools to cancel the show anytime soon. Especially with the ratings and amount of viewers it consistently gets. As long as the cast is willing to continue on the show, thou I do understand they may eventually have to bring in "new blood".

  5. The ratings just keep amazing me normally I'm not a fan of shows going on for this long but that is usually because they just get worse with every season but NCIS has done the opposite. With every episode the show continues to get better and better. And I too wept like a 6 year old for good half hour. This show is really the best I've ever seen!

  6. One death we know was going to happen, but how they end it probably one of the saddest, shocking NCIS endings they ever did.

  7. Obviously, they're doing something right when they keep bringing in higher ratings viewer wise than anybody else....demo is a little harder these days with the competition from the reality shows like The Voice and DWTS, etc. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to get the stats together. :-)
