Scene Of The Week - January 27, 2013 - *POLL*

Jan 27, 2013

Week 8! Thank you all for your contribution!
Today I’m making a first change to my column. I’m adding the poll to the article! I’m hoping this way your choices will be even more visible and more people will join us in our weekly review of TV’s best scenes. As always, enjoy reading!

1. Show: SUPERNATURAL
Episode: LARP and the Real Girl
Date: January 23, 2013
Actors: Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Felicia Day
The Scene: Dean and Sam having fun at the end.

There were a lot of great scenes in the episode, but I’ve chosen the last one, because it sums it all up in a very fun way. Lately, these positive scenes are something really rare on the show. It’s incredibly nice change to see Dean and Sam actually stop thinking about their problems for a moment and just have fun. Reminds me of some episodes from the first few seasons… And honestly, how hilarious were their costumes and make up. Priceless! And Dean’s speech from Braveheart. Let’s not forget about the pause too. I was laughing so hard there! So, between all the tragedy and fighting with monsters, Sam and Dean taking a break and joining LARPers in the Battle of Kingdoms is definitely something worth calling Scene Of The Week.
Quote:
Dean: “And dying in your beds, many years from now. Would you be willing to trade all the days. From this day to that, for one chance…”
Charlie: “Is that the speech from…”
Sam: “It’s the only one he knows.”
Dean: “Just one chance to come back here. And tell our enemies that they may take our lives. But they will never take…”
Larper: “Hold.”
Man with Frisbee: “Uh, my bad. Sorry.”
Dean: “…our freedom!!!”
NOTE: This scene was also picked by klutzy girl as Scene Of the Week!

2. Show: ONCE UPON A TIME
Episode: In the Name of the Brother
Date: January 20, 2013
Actors: Meghan Ory, David Anders
The Scene: Ruby and Whale’s talk.

I really like what a real, honest conversation that was! After saving Whale’s life, Ruby tells him not to give up and encourages to take another chance at life and fix what can still be restored, save the lives that are not lost yet, like Greg’s, who’s lying in the hospital. They also share their worst experiences, things that are not easy to talk about. I love the look on Whale’s face when she says: “I ate my boyfriend”! Nicely played! And quite unexpectedly there’s a spark of friendship between these two “monsters”, that can even become something more. I have to admit, I’ve never really thought about them as a couple or even friends, but after this one scene, I’m excited to see more of them and their really cool dynamics. And what’s the official name of this ship, anyone? Cause I’m sure there already is one!

NOTE: This scene was also picked by klutzy girl as Scene Of the Week!
I like how she saved him and they had a talk about monsters. I hope this develops into a friendship and maybe something more.

  1. I'm on board with Once Upon A Time's scene with Regina and Cora. The acting was superb, it was a much anticipated reunion and it was very emotional.

  2. Once Upon A Time Regina and Cora's reunion (great acting) and PLL's Spencer confronts Toby. I don't actually watch PLL but I watched that scene and it was really good.

  3. Rebekah and Stefan hooking up wasn't a good scene. "No feelings, no attachments"? Since when has that ever been said and it NOT gotten complicated? Besides, she's getting a bit one dimensional. I preferred her when she and Matt had a thing rather than her current attempt at being a bad girl.

Not many great scenes this week but if I had to pick one I think it would be Damon asking Jeremy to kill him. He'd rather die than killing Jeremy. At worst, because he would lose Elena. At best, because he really is reformed and he doesn't want to kill innocent people.

  7. The OUAT moments, the SPN moment with Dean and Charlie and Barney & Robin's soulmate scene at the end were all wonderful moments last week.

  8. I didn't really care about the no feelings thing, I love them together and I've been waiting for something to happen between them for a while

  12. Marcus on the sub putting his shades on and dying, heartbreaking stuff. Also the Jim/Pam fight was really hard to watch. Finally Justified, Boyd confronting Billy the Preacher with the truth about the snakes.

  14. I also really loved that Once Upon A Time scene...it seems like, because of Ruby's "red" associations, and allusions to Wizard of Oz that where made in our first Whale/Victor centric episode: "The Doctor", along with the idea that Frankenstein and Warewolves plays to some of the first (notably black and white) horror films of The Land without Magic's past, and that originally The Wizard of Oz was black and White also, seem to indicate that these two characters are meant to share a close niche, which I can't way to see it further play out.

  15. The OUAT scenes were great, especially the ones with Cora and Regina. I'm very interested to see what happens next with Regina's fight to get Henry now that Cora has convinced her that even though she's innocent of Archie's "murder," he won't want to be with her.

Two scenes from Parenthood's season finale stick out to me as Scene-of-the-Week worthy: the first was when Victor asked Sydney to come to the adoption hearing. It showed that Victor was making an effort to be part of the family and be a brother to Syd. The other scene that stuck out was Adam and Kristina enjoying their Hawaii vacation. Peter and Monica knocked it out of the park this season and that final scene was simple and reassuring that everything would be alright.

  16. Dean and Charlie talking battle strategy while Sam tries to get them to focus on the case was hilarious. It's my pick for best scene out of these choices.

  17. Yes, Boyd was great....once again. :-)

  18. And also the return of Ashley! Victoria was so funny! (REVENGE)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Agreed. That's a good one! Should have added it as my honorable mention;)

  20. Rebekah and Stefan having sex, definitely.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Agreed! Stebekah and the originals are the only reason I watch this show...

  22. I voted for the Reid scenes, because man did they kill me! And I also chose "Other" because thee scene of the week for me was when Belle threw the chipped cup at the wall and Rumple walked away murmuring 'I'm sorry'. What a heart breaking scene. I can't even think about it without tearing up!

  23. Couldn´t agree more. Now all we need is some scenes with both Boyd and Raylan.....

    ReplyDelete
  24. LOL this is called SpoilerTV for a reason, I'm aware of that :p

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ahaha I know. Just a suggestion. When you're caught up, the Reid scenes are awesome. Hence my choice :)
