  1. Ok, Every time the show does something right, it also does something to lose me.

  2. Holy shit. I only watched because there was nothing on after Bones and I didn't feel like changing the channel, but that was awesome.

Wow at the ending. Did not expect him to catch the guy on fire. (I was wondering why the killer dumped water on him at first.) This show doesn't fuck around.

I may have to watch the pilot now!

  3. Okay, i know I said it last week but I'm going to say it again this week. This show is just phenomenal. I really can't get over how good it actually is. I had high expectations for this show, but it just blows them out of the water! On to tonight's episode:

    - Let's talk about the acting for a few can we? Can we please just give Kevin Bacon all of the awards humanly possible? I think everyone and their brother had high expectations for him but come on. He's just knocking this role out of the freaking park! He plays Ryan Hardy as a broken soul looking for redemption. Hanging on to any sort of balance he can. It just so happens that the balance he's looking for resides in Carroll's wife. Natalie Zea ( Carroll's wife ) is tremendous as well. The emotion she conveys is just perfect. And let's not forgot about Hardy's counterpart and admitted equal Joe Carroll ( James Purefoy ), my god can that man convey pure evil. And yet somehow, you still relate to him, especially during the flashbacks.
    - Kevin Williamson. What the hell man. You've devised such a tightly wound plot and superbly intricate script. Two weeks in a row. Dialogue is sharp and crisp. The Edgar Allen Poe analogies and correlations is just fantastic. Unlike anything I've seen before. I've always been a fan favorite of Williamson ( Scream ) but he's just knocking it out of the park! I have 100% faith he will continue to craft one hell of a script the rest of the season ( and hopefully for many seasons to come! ).
    - The music that is played in this show just sets the scenes for what's about to happen. And it makes my heart race even more.
    - Emma killing her mom?! I saw it coming, but it was still extremely chilling.
    - I think I'm going to have to write to Mr. Williamson and ask him for a new set of skin if he'd be so kind. When the "Edgar Allen Poe mask" jumped out at Hardy, I jumped out of my skin.
    - The whole blueprints findings + Jordy killing the guard protecting Carroll's wife + stand off between Hardy and Jordy = Perfection.
    - The twistedness of the cliffhanger?! The "Edgar Allen Poe mask" perp walking up to those civilians, pouring gasoline on one, lighting him on fire, and walking away? Sick, twisted, and absolutely brilliant.

It may sound like I'm geeking out over everything that happened in the entire episode and you know what, you'd be right. I haven't enjoyed a show this much in quite some time ( minus a select few; AHS, LOST, Fringe ). I'm hooked forever!

    Another 10/10 for me.

  4. Ok first things first: does anyone know who did the...well "metalized" (lol I know I'm terrible) cover of Massive Attack's "Angel" at the end of the episode? It's one of my favorite songs by them and I actually enjoyed the heavier sound...

I definitely am enjoying myself with this show. The Poe mask guy attacking Ryan was frightening and not even cheap (you can see the guy move into the shot with the mask on as Ryan looks down from the mirror) and there's some pretty good stuff going on in all areas. I will say though, there are still a few things that irk me... I don't know that I'd call it "phenomenal" but shows like this usually only get better as they go on (by that I mean AHS, Justified, even TVD) small, claustrophobic tales packed with serialized drama and heightening stakes...I think this could be gearing up to be really good.

  5. Answered my own question: I think it was Sepultura...I'm not fond of the vocals but I love what they did with the music...

  6. I'm not very fond of them myself however I thought the song went perfect with the scenes that were being shown. I feel like the show had an equal amount of success with using Marilyn Manson's - Sweet Dreams in the premiere.

  7. Agreed. I also caught deftones' "change" when Emma killed her mother.

  8. If I can't watch Brenda Lee Johnson take down the bad guys any longer, then I will have to watch Ryan Hardy stop the evil tide rolling towards him. But, same as last week, it is creepy and I had a couple of jump out my skin moments - the Edgar Allen Poe for one. But WOW, is this show terrific!

  9. I knew that girl was going to kill her mother...I just didn't expect it to be in that scene.

The one moment when a woman needs to scream her head off! She's got a house full of cops and she doesn't at least try to scream the second she realized she was in trouble. That was the only mental bump I had in the ep.

My brain is still fuddled. The only word coming to my mind is 'wow' The whole episode was taught. The scenes that were supposed to keep me on the edge of my seat had me there. I am going to have to watch again. Definitely picking awesome.

  10. curious about the things that irked you. I've watched the ep only once so far...and my reaction, so far, is all emotion...not much in the way of critical thinking. I'm interested in what's working and what's not but only if you'd like to share.

  11. So were they hinting that the FBI agent is one of The Followers? Just wondering why she would had deliver him his own "bible"

Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

  12. Honestly, it's just certain things here and there that irk me...I can't remember off hand. Sometimes its the dialogue...sometimes the logic is a tad off... (I am supposed to believe that an "idiot guard" can be both incompetent, easily taken down and at the same time also able to kill an entire house full of people and also have the dexterity to string up and carve correctly the victims like Carroll's victims...also then later able to completely infiltrate under the nose of the FBI and then hide in the attic quietly and then easily fall down to attack when he doesn't even look physically fit?)
Just some things here and there is all. :P

  13. I thought the same thing.

  14. Great episode!
I'm glad that the they didn't lose the suspense from the pilot, hell, it was an awesome episode, from the flashback scenes to the ending, and can I just say that I love Poe masks, even though they are a little bit creepy?

I really hope the show can keep up like this, and more importantly, that the ratings will be strong.

  15. Another great ep, does anyone know if Kevin is going to write them all? Just hope he keeps tight control on any new writers.

  16. I love Kevin Williamson, and that fact combined with the good pre-release reviews gave me some high hopes... But, as it stands I'm not exactly loving this one. Honestly, there's not much wit (yet, hoping this will change) which really surprised me given Kevin Williamson's involvement, and is it just me or is this show a little less than cerebral? Like, a lot less.... I'm not expecting a full on display of genius from a "horror"/killer-chase down series, but I do feel like certain elements of the show are "lowest common denominator", which sucks. That said, episode two was better than the pilot, and I've had some luck in sticking out series which I found dissatisfying for up to four episodes, only to have them build and begin to impress. I'll keep hoping for the best, but honestly I'm expecting a let down. Going to weep if my pessimism proves accurate.

  17. I kinda expected the second episode to hold up. It's written and directed by the same guys who made the pilot. The real test will be episode 3 when other people come in. But as far as beginnings go, they have written a great beginning. They are taking it to some really interesting places. I'm really intrigued about the man in the Poe mask.

  19. She has too be because if she's bad news on Person of Interest which we will see this Thursday then she's bad news on here lol besides i think she may have smiled a bit?

  20. I loved the music in this ep, very spooky and fit right in. Dahne had a great poll for Supernatural for our favorite music to scene and I have been paying close attention now to all music in the shows I watch.

  21. Oh, that one didn't ping me the first time through. Actually, I didn't know he was supposed to be "a dummy" until they said it during the second ep and they said it repeatedly. The element that made me actually yell at the TV was this woman, standing in a house surrounded and filled with police not even screaming when she realized that wasn't a real cop. (Also, I'm not that oblivious when I brush my teeth.) If she'd screamed and no one heard her downstairs among the voices and activity, I would have felt better.

  22. I loved it. They are taking it to some really interesting cults. I am sort of fascinated by the dynamics of the group of the cult, they are all so unbalanced, it is fascinating to watch. I am also shipping Claire and Ryan hard. Excellent episode.

  26. Yeah what is with labeling everyone so stringently? That guard guy was "the dullard" or "the idiot" or whatever, and how many times did they say "the gay couple"? lol like we can't remember that they were supposed to be gay if they were to just say the "neighbors" or something...
