  2. oh man i feel bad for reid The episode was epic and delicious i knew that he could never be with her them being together was to easy. Personally i think he should be with some one who doesn't start off with a stalker maybe meeting his Equal isn't equal at all i don't know but i hope he gets a real love interest some one who won't die or have any issues …i'm just saying

  3. This has to be one of the best episodes in Criminal Minds. It was at the level of ep. '100'. Many said that the ending of the episode was terrible, but in my opinion it was great. I mean, this open a new and interesting arc for Reid's storyline, that we all want to see. A clap for MGG, who was great, and also for the girl playing the Unsub (I can't remember her name right now :p), and for all cast and crew. AWESOME EPISODE!

  4. Michlle trachtenberg =DD And you're it's the beggining of a new Reid, but will this be just as awsome as season 2 when he started using drugs? I don't know I have my fears about this. All in all we ended the first arc of season 8 in an epic way and now what to expect about the replicator? Oh My Gosh Criminal Minds never stops surprising me, let's wait to see

  5. I couldn't have said it better myself! Definitely one of my favorites!

  6. Eh. I thought their whole romance was a little odd anyway but seeing as Reid himself is quirky, I figured it would work. Apparently not. Why does the female character always have to be fridged in order to give the male protagonist a story arc? They kill enough people on this show so why can't they get a bit more creative? Plus, now where am I going to be able to see Parker? :(

  7. I loved the episode however I didn't like the end it was so sad that the stalker killed the first person Spencer actually loved in front of him I cried it was to heartbreaking to see Spencer cry. But all in all it was a good episode. I think they killed her off to soon

  8. The best episode of the season so far, and in the top 5 of the whole entire show !

MGG was awesome, the plot was breathtaking, and the entire episode was just priceless ! Loved it !

The end was just so sad, I wasn't expecting that , but great way to developp Reid's character, so I hope they'll do it well !

    Next one please !!!!!!!!!!!! :p

  9. Terrible ending for an otherwise excellent episode. Last few minutes is why I voted "awful" instead of "awesome". They did not need to do that. Total waste of a character and storyline, and a complete disservice to the character of Reid.

  10. Im tired of no one ever being happy in a show. Why the hell does everyone have to loose someone so tragically. It's like I can't think of anything good or different so we'll kill someone somebody loves... Yeah that's it.

  11. So sed that she died, but i saw something interesting. season 1 Reid like the star what gets stallker and now Reid love women whit stalker and both stalkers was womens. So it is Reid thing i quess.

  12. the storyline was amazing and the whole direction and mathew is an amazing actor but i would have like maeve to live. I mean spencer finally finds someone he loves and he doesn't get a happiness? I'm like WHAT??? although i see where the writers could add in a new storyline for reid but it just feels like he does derserve some happiness.

  13. Michelle Tratchenberg is the actress playing the unsub. She was in Buffy the Vampire Slayer from season 5 to the end of the series.

  14. I literally screamed OH NO at my TV!!!! Omigosh...............everyone had such a look of horror on their faces that just blew me away. Excellent episode.....I like how Hotch pointed out to the team right off the bat ....this is your own time.....no pay......to investigate this missing woman.....I am hoping against hope that maybe she is not dead and just knocked out. Maybe the bullet did not go through the unsubs head to hers....notice the previews for nest week did not have Reid in them.....maybe Maeve is in a coma in the hospital.....ahhhhhhhhhhhh freaking show. It was heart wrenching last night!

  15. He does deserve it, but he's the show's tragic hero. Happy isn't in the cards for him. Never has been.

  16. Tragedy is a lot more dramatic than happiness. No one would watch a show full of happy people being happy. Just wouldn't happen.

  17. How is it a disservice to Reid? When has he ever been happy? When have things ever gone his way? I'd have been shocked if she'd lived, quite frankly.

  18. Brilliant episode. Despite what anyone below thinks. Yes, OK, it's ridiculous that no one's ever happy in TV, they didn't need to kill her, etc. And yes, it would have been an interesting direction from there. But what they can now do is something better. At this point they've destroyed Reid, and now they need to build him back up. I think it'll be a great storyline for him.

  19. I thought it was a great episode. Well acted on all fronts, no pat ending at the end and focussed on character and story over pointlessly violent interludes. I really didn't see the end coming, and that's what I want in good drama. I don't know where they're going to go with this or how Reid can recover. Hopefully they won't drop the ball on this story and they'll give it the weight a loss like this deserves. My worry is that, because it's a case of the week show, they'll want to wrap up the emotional impact of this quickly and have Reid go back to exactly how he was before within a few episodes. No one can go back to being the same person after losing someone in that way, and if they do it with Reid then this episode will have been completely pointless and it will be impossible to invest in the future in anything that happens to the main characters.

One thing I do wonder. Given just how game-changing this is going to have to be for Reid if the writers want to maintain their credibility, and given that they're heading for a showdown with a major unsub who's obsessed with them by the end of the season - could this be Matthew Gray Gubler's last season? Perhaps they're planning for a dramatic exit.

  20. JJ's pretty happy...

  21. MGG is a really good, emotional actor, so anything that lets him stretch his acting muscles is a win in my book.

    ReplyDelete
  22. And how much of that happy home life do we see on the show? Answer: Not much!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I believe Gubler signed a two-year contract at the beginning of this season. But I suppose they don't actually have to use him in that second season . . . . .

Me, I wonder if the drugs will make a comeback. He admitted he'd thought about using after Emily "died." This would be so much worse.

  24. Well they do say story is conflict.

  25. Very plausible though. I'm not really sure how he could NOT fall apart after this. Oh writers. They obviously know how much the viewers like to see a bit of Reid in peril/anguish.

If he's signed on for 2 years then it is pretty doubtful he's going anywhere. So my theory's pretty much fallen apart. Maybe part of the stipulation of him signing on was he did need to get some focussed storylines (not that I'm complaining. He's the only reason I still watch it now Paget Brewster's gone. Though I also think Jeanne Tripplehorn is fantastic.) But then again, maybe the writers just came up with a story for him and ran with it.

  26. She was also a manipulative villain in Gossip Girl

  27. Perhaps you should read your own comment, then ask me how it's a disservice again. /rolls eyes

  28. "No one would watch a show full of happy people being happy" ~ Much like how no one would watch a show full of unhappy people being unhappy? The key is moderation, like Valerie said. That's not happening with either Reid, nor Criminal Minds. It's tiring.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Maybe she aint dead :) also those who voted Awful based their decision on one thing, most likely, which is the fact that Maeve "died", and pooor Reid (love him btw)...but when you vote it's about how griping the show is and if it kept you on the edge of your seat with its storyline, so they should have voted Awesome :D

  30. Actually, I voted awful because I found the whole episode to be rather trite and dull. I had no reason to find the stalker storyline compelling, which is insane because there's nothing more terrifying and perfectly in line with this series, not to mention dramatic, but they barely played with it at all, and when they did it was more annoying than compelling. The more soap opera-y dramatic events they throw at the wall, the less effective this series is as a whole. Which is not to say I have a problem with soap opera melodramaticism, it's just that they have sort of a Gossip Girl approach at this point, i.e. throw the craziest story lines at the wall and see what sticks, and it just doesn't make for great television. Had there had been a slow boil of stalking events, Imaybe some of this episode as a climax would have been enjoyable or at least tolerable, but as it is, the whole set up just left me indifferent. I like the actor who plays reid, and find his character equally likeable, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be moved by such a haphazard storyline. Anyways, I hope this series gets more watchable at least until I find out if "The Following" is as good as people have suggested. It has gotten really really exceptionally anti-cerebral and it's frustrating. I know I'm going to upset a lot of people with this comment, but I think there are others who would agree. At the very least they are still good at exceptionally grotesque and excessive gore... Lastly, how does a show that almost constantly throws main characters in harms way with intricate unsub driven plotlines manage to botch almost every single "crisis" and make them so boring and cliché? You would think they would have had the opportunity to write past wrongs here, but alas... It's really unfortunate because these are interesting characters (or mostly anyways) that have obviously matter to viewers and that the writers take such a lazy approach to character development is just such a shame.

  31. I thought it was a good episode and the ending was fitting for the show because the show barley devolves into the individuals life stories its always just a back story and the only time they go major on a back story is when its dealing with a case and tragic! ie. Hotch with hailey dying, printess and her ex 'killing' her, Gideon with Sarah dying, Garcia getting shot, JJ's husband and son getting threaten by the crazy lady who held up the bank that Will got the call to check out. Pretty much they show is about tragedy! Its not about the romances so those stay on the back burner!

  32. Well I didn't see that coming. It was another amazing episode but surely Reid's had enough happen to him already? Especially when he was bound, gagged and drugged by a complete nutcase?. I was really looking forward to Reid having someone special :)
