I think it's supposed to set up the arc to find Castle's father. Just as Castle wouldn't get out of Beckett's family history in season 1, Beckett won't let him back down on this one because she doesn't want to end up like Meredith, having him be a closed book to her.
On the whole, the episode was much better than I had dreaded.
The episode was extremely fun, but the ending really bummed me out! I feel very sad about Beckett still feeling insecure around Castle, and I hate Meredith for planting that seed.
It's just a matter of time before Kate starts wondering about Rick's father. And who knows, maybe she'll begin digging into it just like Castle did before with Johanna's case.
When I watched the ending the first time around, I felt that same as many of you, that I was tired of Kate's insecurities. But having watched the episode again, I feel that maybe it was more of Kate thinking that she needed to make a better effort to know all of Castle the way that he knows her. That she wants to take the time and effort to really know Castle, the good, the bad and the ugly. I look forward to the progression of Castle and Beckett's relationship. Andrew Marlowe might take us on a roller coaster ride but in the end, he always comes through.
Maybe I'm wrong but as I see it,Kate already knew about the cheating. What she needed to hear was about Meredith not taking the time to know the person she was sharing her life with. I think this is the base to have Kate being more involved in Rick's life, helping him with his father's issue.
I don't think its insecurities but realization that she needs to make more effort to know all of Castle like he knows her. It wouldn't have bothered her if she wasn't in it for the long hall.
I'll be called a sexist pig for this but still: 1) In the end Alexis's mother wanted to take care of her daughter... 2) The whole Beckett doubting Castle because of anything his Ex says is on her.
I hadn´t understand the whole conversation in the end of the episode (english isn´t my first language), but reading the comments I got it... I agree with the most of you, I believe this is the arc to introduce the story of Castle´s father, and if so it was very well done. About the episode, I really enjoyed it a lot, particulary Ryan and Espo teasing Castle!! And the case itself was very good... I would never guess the killer, because I would never get that twist!
Please, she is NOT insecure! Just realized that Castle also has walls (about his father) and she needs to be by his side like he was for her! In Andrew Marlowe we believe!
That was a good episode. Those "whewwwwww" and "boom" from Ryan and Esposito to Castle were hilarious. And I couldn't help but feel pity for Castle LOL. But that's on him LOL.
Anyway, I don't think that the last scene was meant to show Kate's insecurities. It was more like she realized that she actually had so many things to learn about him.
It's gonna be interesting to see Kate peel more of Castle onion.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
The ending was interesting, I hope that comes back

I wish Meredith would've mentioned she cheated on Castle, when she was explaining why they got divorced... She made it sound like it was all him.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, what a roller coaster of emotions!

ReplyDeletei agree, I don't think she was having second thoughts but realizing she has to do more to get to know him if she wants things to work out.
