The whole episode was sweet. And so much happened; the pacing was excellent. Boo, Ginny and Melanie had such great roles to play. Ginny was particularly poignant. She even got a line like Sutton Foster typically gets, the cute, facetious, one-liner non sequiturs ("I drink milk.")
I loved the individual storylines (except Boo/Carl and I usually adore her but the we're married/kids story is just odd), but I felt like the integration didn't work this time around. Michelle and her brother were really good together, funny, touching, intimate. The final duet was so..poignant. The girls were funny and lost and I loved it when Boo yelled at Kent, it was great. But it just felt disjointed.
The whole continuing storyline of Boo taking over the majority of her mother's responsibilities (including the parental ones) is upsetting to me in general.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I loved the duet at the end. It was very sweet.

ReplyDeleteI didn't like it.
ReplyDeleteGinny and Melanie were great. Ginny's tangent about punch absolutely killed me.

ReplyDeleteI used to like Boo's mom, but now, like all the parents, she's just horrible and/or irresponsible. I'm finding it less funny than it is troubling.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. It's weird that Michelle is the closest thing these kids have to a positive adult role model and that's really not saying much.
