I don't care for Hook. It looks to me that he's only there to antagonize Rumplestiltskin now that Regina is on her path to became a better person. I'm happy though that the writers said that his vengeance quest is going to end soon, so he'll hopefully get a better storyline.
Actually the Jack Sparrow-ness is what I like about him. J.M Barrie himself has described Hook as not wholly unheroic, and I think Colin with his performance and the writing have done a wonderful job in encapsulating that vibe about the character.
Don't mind the actor, but the character is okay. My main issue with him is that I feel he doesn't really add much to the show and the fact that he's pretty much eye candy and looks ridiculous doesn't help. As for S2, I'm nor surprised, I mean it's been a polarizing season for sure for a lot of people. Personally, I liked S1 but thought it could be so much better and I really think that with S2 it has improved so much. S2 is overall stronger, the stakes are higher and there seems to be a clearer focus.
Yeah, I'm not sure yet what Hook really adds to the show other than Colin's looks. I'm not feeling his feud with Rumple yet, but I hope the story will improve once they meet again in Storybrooke. Especially since this is his only real purpose on the show so far. [Not counting any flirtations with female characters since he flirts with everything that moves.]
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Not a promo for 2x10. There are scenes from 2x11 there :)
ReplyDeletedin't quite notice them :p
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
new scenes? :D not. we've already seen these scenes..
ReplyDeleteI believe the one where Hook is holding a gun to Belle's chin is new. I hadn't seen it yet.
ReplyDeleteWe have not. The first two shots are new, and the shot of Hook pointing a gun at Belle is new.
ReplyDeleteHe's awesome! I love that they're pimping him so much!

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but he is to Jack Sparrow-esque for my taste, and too flip-floppy. Can't wait for his fight with Rumple though!

Wow a promo about Hook without some Emma/Hook!! I'm shocked :p
ReplyDeleteMost charming? Sure, he is hitting women and stealing hearts literally. Very "charming" indeed.
ReplyDeleteHate the actor, the character and hate this season of the show.

ReplyDeleteSomehow I am looking forward to a random hookup between Hook and Regina...
ReplyDeleteHe came before Jack Sparrow, he should be his own character IMO.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the unheroic in theory, it's the execution I'm having trouble with.
The actor is ok, the character is one of my least favorites, and I feel the same about this season as I did last season: love/hate
ReplyDeleteAgree to disagree, then. :)
ReplyDeleteIn the first case I find he's just Jack Sparrow-esque enough to draw the comparison but not that much to identify the two.
and
On the second point the execution is working marvelously for me.
