  1. That probably means CBS are about to announce a load of renewals for next season?

  3. awesome news! it was about time!.
got a little confused...are we meeting the mother in the final episode of the current season? or we have to wait till next september?

  4. Probably during the season finale in May.

  5. Ted will certainly meet her in the Season finale, but might not see her face till next season! :)

  6. So I noticed that it says "All Series Regulars to Return for Final Season, Where Audiences Will Finally Meet the Mother"

So we won't meet the mother in the Season 8 finale?

  7. that's how I figured its going to happen. We wont see her until next premiere... very happy to have an entire season to flesh out her actual character though.

  8. Great that they get a season to wrap everything up, but about time that this show is ending.

  9. Obviously no. But that wasn't too hard to guess I think.

  10. You're all too optimistic. I know this show...

  11. "About effing time" pretty much sums it up my feeling about the news.

  12. Not necessarily. This renew has more to do with the new deal with the cast, the studio and the crew being finalized now, than something related to CBS.

  13. With B/R wedding happening this season (most likely the season finale), everyone was thinking that we will meet the mother at the very end of Season 8. Maybe the Season 8 finale ends with B/R and Season 9 premiere revolves around Ted meeting the mother at the train station.

  14. I guess I'm not that optimistic than. Since the day they rumored season 9 might happen, I knew the mother was going to be pushed to next year. I don't even think we'll see her in the premiere, but we'll see I guess.

  15. I checked TVLine and last year's early renewals all came in March. Maybe it'll happen the same way again.

  16. Well, I don't see how the can have the wedding in the Season 8 finale and not meet the mother soon after that.

  17. Finally it's OFFICIAL! And I'm really glad that they know it's gonna be the final season. Like it when creators know and have time to prepare for the end.

  18. I'm guessing Ted could see her in the last seconds of the finale, but not us. And in the summer there would be a big casting for the Mother.

  19. That's gonna be great but I wabt to meet the mother in the finale, this year and next and last season when get to know her

  20. We'll definitely meet the mother in the finale. The reveal of the mother's identity is going to be a huge moment in the series. If they want until the Season 9 premiere it'll be impossible to keep the identity of the actress secret over the course of the summer. It'll leak, and a leak like that would absolutely ruin the fun of the reveal that the entire show is supposed to be leading up to.
I'm sure we'll meet the mother in the final moments of season 8, get our first look at her face, and then pick up from there in Season 9.

  21. Since it's been confirmed Ted meets the mother at the wedding and that the wedding happens in the S8 finale, I don't see how they can't drag this out.

  22. I'm glad it's ending, and that they know it's the final so they can hopefully craft a great final season.

  23. I'm good with that... I mean, the show's barely about Ted meeting the mother of his kids anymore. He got transformed into someone super whiny that I have a hard time rooting for when it comes to love. Though I do love these characters and this show... I'll miss them when they're gone!

  24. So someone will let us know who it finally is, yes? The show got boring a few seasons ago (for me), I just want to know who the mom is.

  25. IMHO it a couple of years too late, BUT I am happy that the show is going into it's final season knowing it is the FINAL season.

  26. Eh, I'm excited that it got renewed, but only so they can maybe disprove my misgivings. I just don't see how they are going to remotely make me give a damn about who the mother is. Sure, I can't wait to see who they get to portray her, but after watching the first 5 seasons or so of the show repeatedly, I just can't see how they will be able to make me care who she is. I've seen Ted in an amazingly beautiful relationship with Robin, a pretty good relationship with Victoria, a decent relationship with Zoey...despite all the B/R shippers, I still wholeheartedly believe Ted/Robin was the greatest relationship in the show and can't imagine how they are going to top it. And from what clues the show has given, the message of the show will be "wait at long as humanly possible to meet that one person who meets all the superficial criteria on your ideal-partner checklist". So yeah, they are going to have to work their butts off to prove me wrong and pull off a good final season in my books.

  27. I completely agree. I feel like everyone just blindly accepts whatever the writers throw at them. From what I can tell, I imagine that as long as the majority of viewers get some grade-C material with Barney/Robin in the final season they'll be satisfied and think it's the best thing ever. Like "Ermahgerd, Barney just LOOKED at Robin. It was AMAZING! This was the greatest episode ever!" Or something along those lines.

  28. Sorry, I have to say it. From a lot of forums and here and everywhere's comments I think everyone's missing the point of the show. The show isn't about how Ted met their mother, the show is about how Ted became the person he had to become to meet her. The show is about all the trials and tribulations (and women's beds) he went through before getting there, not getting there in itself. The thrill is in the chase, never in the capture, and whilst I hope we see her at Season 8's end meaning we'll get to know her properly during Season 9 I think everyone's idea that "we should stop watching the show because we do not know who the mother is after 8 years" argument is just a bit silly. I watch the show to see Ted, Barney, Robin, Marshall and Lily for half an hour a week, I watch it for the situations of that episode, not because I'm bored out of my mind waiting to find out who the mother is, but because I love the show. Just my thoughts.
