How I Met Your Mother - Cobie Smulders Confirms 9th Season

Last we heard, How I Met Your Mother was "close" to getting a ninth season, but the deal had yet to be closed and contracts had yet to be signed. Well, according to Cobie Smulders, it's definitely happening! No, you're probably not surprised, and a ninth season has been all but officially confirmed, but it's nice to get some news straight from the beautiful horse's mouth.

"It's a tricky thing. There's a lot of people involved in a decision like that. But luckily everybody made the same one and came on board," Smulders tells us while promoting her new film Safe Haven. "I sort of thought it was going to happen and then around the holidays when it started feeling like, 'Oh, it might not [happen],' it made me really sad. Because it's the end of an era and How I Met Your Mother has become like a second home to me. So it'll be nice starting season nine knowing this is it. Soak it in. Really be grateful and enjoy this last year."
Smulders added about the game plan for next season: "I don't really know they're intention for next season. I know they've figured it out. I know they've figured out everything."

  1. Yeah, we already know that Season 9 is happening. CBS just needs to make it official.

  3. CBS really needs to officially renew it already since the cast already has.

  4. It's good that they're going in knowing it's the last one.
