What a bullshit list. I'll never be able to take the GG seriously.
ReplyDeleteNo offense to Claire Danes because I know just how incredible she is on Homeland, but Glenn Close in the last episode of Damages (that scene with her father...and then at the end especially) was something I was really hoping would get recognized this season. :( I'm glad she was nominated at least though.
ReplyDeletemodern family should be the winer not girls.(( sad face
ReplyDeleteGirls won over The Big Bang Theory? Yeah, okay, biggest bullshit I've heard so far in 2013.
ReplyDeleteNo one really takes the Golden Globes seriously and this winner's list shows why! XD
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see if the Argo/ Affleck wins gives Argo a little momentum going into the Oscars.....
I think Lincoln and Les Miserables had momentum going their way the past few weeks with Zero Dark Thirty maybe pulling into third and Argo somewhere behind in the pack.
Those scenes with Close were maybe the best acting I have EVER scene.
ReplyDeleteNo surprise the Globes voted for Danes though since they hold their finger to the wind more than any awards show other than the ridiculous People's Choice Awards. Plus, Danes is quite good on Homeland...
Very deserving wins for Argo and Affleck. It was a great film and this time it's the Oscars that got it wrong by leaving Affleck off of the nominations list (not to mention several other snubs the oscars had).
ReplyDeleteTBBT is just an okay laugh-track sitcom, it`s not smart or it`s artistic. I like to watch TBBT when im hungover, but it`s not quality entertaiment. I would have liked to see 30 Rock or Parks And Rec win instead myself, but Girls easliy goes over TBBT in possibly everything outside measurements in audience.
ReplyDeleteI liked Argo. It`s more of a people choice i would think that Argo would have won over Lincoln. Zero Dark 30 just went out almost (it`s not in the movies here yet). Lincoln im going to see soon, hopefully. The casting is that movie is so great, even outside the major names (Lee Jones, Day-Lewis and Fields).
ReplyDeleteAs much as Homeland was not the greatest dramaseries, i dont think they should not get that award. Breaking Bad has had it`s awards (everybody knows Breaking Bad is great). Mad Men just need some actor-awards (everybody knows Mad Men is great).
As much i belive Girls should get best comedy, Amy or Tiny should have gotten best female lead in a comedy. Lena Dunham`s role is okay, but here storytelling is a heck much better.
I wouldn't say Oscars nails the awards so much by my meaning, either does Globes, or the Emmy`s. I liked the show itself more than the category-winners.
I actually think the Globes are usually pretty fun too.
ReplyDeleteDrunk actors not stressed out like at the Oscars... that's one of the benefits of the awards not meaning as much I guess. XD
As far as getting it "right" I usually agree with the Oscars and Emmys more. The guild award shows too.
I liked Argo, quite a bit actually.
I just think that in comparison to Lincoln (or Zero Dark Thirty) that Argo does not stand up. Truth be told I think Argo deserves to be nominated and I rarely have a strong opinion on who should win over the other nominations since those top tier nominees are often separated by such a small amount. This year, however, I think Lincoln really are a fair amount ahead of the rest of the pack. Lincoln being one of the best movies I have ever seen.
As far as Girls goes...
I tried 3 times to watch it and each time I just ended up literally in a bad mood after. I consider it one of the worst series I have watched in years.
I should just avoid commenting on the series! XD
Hooray for Christoph Waltz anyway, that's pretty much the only understable choice on that list up there for me xD .. but to be fair, I didn't see Argo, but it must be deservedly praised based on what the people say and write.
ReplyDeleteI´m very happy for Homeland, it is a great show and the actors are brilliant.
ReplyDeleteNever understood all the love for Girls. I don´t watch a lot of Comedy´s anymore, but Girls would be my last pick.
Best Television Series — Drama
ReplyDeleteWINNER: GAME OF THRONES
How can Argo be the best motion picture an the lead actor not even nominated for best actor? That is just weird.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that! I can't believe I got downvotes, I gave props to Claire cause she's insanely good as her role, but I guess no one likes it when someone says something nice about other actors?
ReplyDeleteI've never been a fan of these upvote & downvote arrows. The anonymous nature of the arrow clicks makes it easily abused, especially if there's one really rabid fan.
ReplyDeleteOh good. I'm glad I am not the only one who can't watch Girls.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree also about QT...After listening to him on NPR several times over the past few years, I understand where he is coming from better, but honestly I have to be in certain kind of mood to watch his films.
Ya it's out of control! XD
ReplyDeleteI've seen comments that were one line compliments about a certain actor, but because that actor is not from someone's favorite show they down vote it.
Just nuts.
Exactly.
ReplyDeleteI can usually respect his achievement, but that does not mean I enjoy it.
Some movies of his like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Inglourious Basterds I found quite good though honestly... Although I have very little desire for repeat viewing outside of Reservoir Dogs and Dusk Til Dawn (if you count movies he's acted in).
*Shrug*
I agree. It's a bit unsettling.
ReplyDeleteFYI I upvoted you so no anonymity there lol
I dunno about ill-fate points about humanity but they're damn funny and entertaining to me. I still love Kill Bill and "Ingluorious Basterds" :D
ReplyDeleteI found him pretty funny on Alias! - Pulp Fiction is probably the only one I have watched repeated times and I also thought Inglorious Bastards better than most of the rest. Kill Bill is something that I "should" like, but just never can get into it. :D
ReplyDeleteHa! I think I would find them more amusing if they weren't all blood thirsty revenge movies! Like I said, if I'm in the right mood, then their fine and can be fun, but I always like more intellectual comedy or point blank dramas. It's just me. :p
ReplyDeleteMost of the winners were pretty ridiculous in my opinion...not that i was suprised, but Breaking Bad is much better than the pretty good Homeland. I disagree with almost every winner in the movie categories apart from Tarantino,Waltz and probably Jennifer Lawrence...
ReplyDeleteAnyone else notice the almost complete lack of the top 4 broadcast networks on the TV winners list?
ReplyDeleteUp to opinions, I guess. I've tried (multiple times) watching Girls - I just don't like it. With TBBT, I love watching new episodes and I watch old episodes over and over and over again. I find the humor spot-on and the plots and creativity unique for a show of its age. So I guess it's a matter of opinion, but I have tried and I just don't enjoy watching Girls.
