Rockstar PR deferred to their publisher, Take-Two, whose spokesperson Alan Lewis said: ""It's unfortunate that Mr. Darabont finds it necessary to gain publicity by making inaccurate statements – Take-Two never contacted Mr. Darabont nor threatened to sue any party. The facts are that Take-Two reached out to Turner to express concern over confusion between the properties and they responded that they had decided to change the title of the show independent of Take-Two's concerns."

Noire (with an e!) threatened to sue the shit out of me, TNT, every company that actually ever worked in Hollywood. And they have the billions of dollars to back it up, apparently. So we're changing the title, and I do believe the title is going to be Lost Angels. This is being announced right here. It's a very, very cool show. It's [set in] 1947 LA and it stars my very dear friend Jon Bernthal, whom I worked with on The Walking Dead who is now free of that...

This is infact not true. If so, Rockstar would be sued to shit for L.A. Noire. This is just Darabont and him talking a bit too fast about stuff. Rockstar Games has already said this is not true. Rockstar only said they asked Turner to rename it because of the confusion, not threaten to sue over it.

"Lost Angels" ... that could work. Perhaps it's best, help avoid confusing the tv show with the game.

ReplyDeleteLost Angels could work as the title to the sequel that follows the lives of the LOST characters after they went to Heaven at the end of the show :D

ReplyDeleteYeah, right. Rockstar Games owns the rights to the two words "LA" and "Noir" (when they, curiously spelled their game with the feminine "NOIRE", anyway) and can sue Darabont. If it's based on the book, then they can use the book's title. John Buntin had the title long before Rockstar anyway.
