Community - Could "absolutely" get a fifth season

6 Jan 2013

NBC’s entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt told reporters Sunday that the modestly rated comedy could “absolutely” get a fifth season. “Absolutely,” he said. “We’re always hopeful for a show to continue. And we co-own it. I’d love nothing more than to see it continue.”

“Actors come and go on a lot of shows and this is a big ensemble,” Greenblatt said of Chase’s exit. “I don’t think that’s going to be a big negative about the future of the show.”

Greenblatt added that fans will see basically the same show during the upcoming fourth season which gets underway next month. “You’re going to see relatively the same show you’ve seen before and I hope that’s a good thing,” he said. “Maybe there’s a little more heart built into it, but we didn’t fundamentally change it.”

  3. I think they're lying so they won't anger the fandom again but I hope I am wrong.

  4. I hope so, but I have a bad feeling season four will be it for the show. I can't shake it. (Then again, I felt the same way about Body of Proof last season and it got renewed.)

  5. I hope so but yeah I'm still concerned some last minute change will happen again and S4 will get delayed.

  6. I want to believe this, but I won't get excited util it's confirmed

  7. Well, one thing I'll say is that NBC will get a lot of criticism if they cancel it, but on any other network, it was canned years ago.

  9. this would be great news if it does somehow happen. I can definitely see another short (13 ep) season, but I'm always hoping for longer... and it would be great to see how the show would function without Chevy around for a full season

  10. Mmm... not "lying", they're simply sugarcoating the pill. Of course they don't want to come out in a press event and say "the show is doomed no matter what".

  11. Six seasons and a movie! More Community is and never will be a bad thing.

  12. This is reassuring. Though I've always thought its chances of renewal are pretty positive. Truth is, if NBC can't put out new shows that attract a decent amount of viewers then they are more willing to hold on to bubble shows. I don't truly wish for NBC to fail, but the upside of their struggles is that we get to hold on to gems like Community, Parks & Rec and Parenthood for a little longer.

  13. Basically its still a toss up, it'll depend on how ratings go when it returns and how cheap Sony give it to NBC for.

  14. Well..let's first see how good the show will work without Dan Harmon..then we can hope for another season.
