Bloodline - NBC Orders Pilot from David Graziano & Peter Berg

Jan 8, 2013

NBC has given a pilot order to Bloodline, a stylized drama from writer David Graziano (Awake, Lie To Me) and producers Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey. Berg is set to direct the pilot, produced by Universal TV and Berg and Aubrey’s Film 44.

Bloodline, which reflects Graziano’s love of pulp, graphic novels and ancient mythology, is a contemporary pulp action thriller in the vein of Kill Bill. Set against the backdrop of modern suburbia, it follows the story of an orphaned young girl, Bird Benson, who, due to an accident of birth, is caught in the epic struggle between two warring families of mercenaries and killers. Mentored by a mysterious Chinese man, Bird must accept the quest to find and defeat her mother in mortal combat if she is ever to lead a normal life.

  1. Interesting I thought from the title it might be a vampire show.

  3. They can always add vampires if the show is picked up, and Dracula gets canned after two episodes on thursday night.

  4. So NBC does their twist on Lost Girl?
Could be good... at least the premise sounds interesting and it's not on ABC. XD

  5. I dont see Lost Girl here. Then Lost Girl is a copy of Alias. And then Alias is a copy of something else. And the line just keeps going and going. NOTHING IS A NEW TWIST!!

  6. This seems really messed up and over the top. Luckily, those are two things that Peter Berg has done well so, because of his involvement, I'm interested. If it's as twisted as Very Bad Things was, I'll probably enjoy it.

  7. Getting a bit of "Alias" vibes from this one. If this were on cable or basic cable it could have been interesting, but on NBC? I'm not so sure.

I do see shades of stuff Lost Girl premise has here - a person of unusual lineage, trained by an enigmatic mentor figure, stuck in between two sides, parental problems and mysteries, etc.

Of course the whole story set-up like that predates Lost Girl, but its not surprising someone would notice the similarity.
