Too many of the comedies I love are in the long shot/could go either way list (Don't Trust, Happy Endings, Ben and Kate) but nice to see Raising Hope, Parks and Suburgatory as Safe Bets. I sure hope so. I hardly watch any Network shows these days and next season will be less with Fringe, Last Resort gone.
"Parenthood" a sure thing? Don't get me wrong, I'm about as psyched as one could get, but I wasn't expecting that. How does he know? 'A safe bet' would seem more reasonable.
Too many ABC comedies in danger... me not happy...
I'm surprised H50 and The Mentalist are "safe bets" and not "sure things"...
Worried about B&K but glad that RH seems to be holding up! And I just noticed with House gone I watch ZERO dramas/hourlong shows on FOX...
Why would Whitney go either way? WHY?! Other than that, happy for Go On and Revolution. (note to self catch up with both those!)
HoD is staying... I'm pretty confident about that... My prediction is if TCD does well 90210 is out and TCD is getting paired up with HoD. And I think Nikita's survival this season will be very closely tied to how Cult preforms...
I think, especially for the CW the could go either ways are a little fluid and in some cases not good calls...
HoD and B&tB should be considered more "safe bets", less "could go either ways". HoD has a steady, loyal audience which has even grown slightly and gets really good press. All that with minimal promotion. It's the little show that could and they'd be idiots to lose it. And yeah okay B&tB isn't a HUGE hit, but it's a good companion for TVD and manages to hold it's own.
90210 isn't aging very well, and I think that in the case that TCD does decently it could get dumped or at least get the GG treatment of a final shortned season.
I also strongly believe Nikita's fate is very closely tied to how well Cult performs AND what the new pilots will look like.
B&tB is a bad companion to TVD and it can hardly hold on its own, since it loses more than half of its lead-in, both in total viewers and18-49. TVD scores 1.2, B&tB gets 0.5, so it's far from a safe bet. HoD does technically better since it doesn't have a strong lead-in like TVD.
It IS a good companion in terms of style and tone.
As for the ratings, I maintain, that by CW standards it IS holding it's own. When they paired iit up with TVD, I don't expect they believed the show would retain the audience.
Could it have done better and were they hoping it would do better? Maybe and probably.
But objectively for the network the numbers are more than decent.
Excited that he thinks The Good Wife is a sure thing! Same goes for Parenthood! Excited that he hasn't written Ben and Kate completely off! Excited that he thinks Raising Hope is a safe bet! Same goes for The New Normal and Parks and Recreation
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Really curious to see how the CW is going to handle all the "could go either way" shows...
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that the majority of "my" shows seem to survive this year, even though it is still very early to speculate.
I've been waiting for both this and the May sweeps scorecard! (That should be popping up pretty soon.)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad most of my shows seem to be safe so far.
Phew, my shows seem to be safe. I'm pleased
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see Bones as 'a sure thing'.
ReplyDeleteWhen will we see May sweeps scorecard ?
ReplyDeleteI didn't see any of my shows on there.. So must be later when they come back.
ReplyDeletehey klutzy girl do you see modern family on abc

ReplyDeleteI had the exact same reaction about the comedies!

For The CW, Nikita HAS to come back!

I think it's a little early for MSSc... I think he usually posts that sometime after the Feb sweeps...
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or does it seem like every year, most of the CW's shows are "could go either way"?
