The CW just wrapped its pilot orders for this season with eight pickups, including planted Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals. Amazon was not among them, and I have learned that the network has decided to roll the Wonder Woman origin project to next season. Additionally, I hear the CW may order an off-cycle pilot.

I did hear they were having issues with the casting of the lead and the pick up to pilot was dependant on finding the right lead.Not sure if thats true or not but it seems likely.
ReplyDeletePeople have said for a long time that Bridget Regan would be great for the role of Wonder Woman.
ReplyDeleteUntil last week, I was under the erroneous impression the pilot was already ordered because of casting. That being said, this does not surprise me at all. Wonder Woman, and anything having to do with Wonder Woman, is notoriously difficult to get onscreen. It's an Ahab - Moby Dick situation at this point.
ReplyDeleteTV Line is now reporting that it still in contention for this season. I think they are likely to be having problems with the lead.

ReplyDeleteProbably a good idea. If they debuted next year, there would be an inevitable link to the failed NBC attempt. It would be better if the show could be publicized without the first thing people thinking of is failure.
