90210 - Producers expecting to be notified of cancellation early in order to wrap-up

Jan 30, 2013

The CW is expected to give 90210 a proper ending by notifying the producers early if they plan to cancel the series this season. The decision is expected to happen soon in order to prepare a series finale arc for the final episodes of the season if needed. With the falling ratings a short final 6th season next year ala Gossip Girl is also possible but unlikely at this point.

  2. Love it how cw gives the long running shows early announcment of cancellation... this is a good example for other networks!

  3. Any sources for this? Not a fan of the show but I know many people that are, at least the writers will be given time to wrap everything up though.

  4. I think most long running shows are given time to write proper endings, its newer shows that dont and thats likely down to the fact that it costs the network money just to air them.
Most if not all shows run at a loss, a shows survival is based on how much of a loss the network is willing to accept untill the shows reaches syndication which is where the return comes from.

  5. There have been other shows that were cancelled shortly after their 100th episode, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is cancelled. The show in it's 5th season, is getting old, it's been 2 years since they all graduated high school and some have finished college, so it's time to move on.

  6. This is bulshit :-( they really need to do a Season 6 :-( they deserve it and its not their fault they are up against TCD :-(

  7. 90210 has already passed syndiction numbers and there's no reason to give it a final season, that certainly didn't help GG's atrocious final season. 90210 would probably do even worse if there is another season, it's better to end it this season.

  8. Oh please, I hope this is true. This was never a good show but it was mildly entertaining in seasons 2 and 3. The past 2 years have been terrible even for this show's standards. Wrap it up!

  11. No offense to 90210 fans, but... I think the sooner The CW collectively kicks the teen dramas to the curb, the better. This network has no hope of surviving if it doesn't successfully rebrand itself and find at least 2 more genre shows that work. 90210 is only going to drop further in the ratings so I don't see a reason to give it that shortened final season, and waste a slot they could give a new show (it's already reached 100 episodes for extended syndication). Just notify the writers in time so they can satisfyingly wrap things up.

  12. Season 2 and 3 with Teddy was the best for me. I hope the CW holds onto Trevor Donovan and Jessica Stroup

  13. Am i the only one that wants a season 6 I think they deserve since the 1st season they broke records for CW so they should have a season 6 even with flopping ratings(since buting 90210 after The Carrie Diaries is a bad move since TCD sucks) Of course people are not really fans of the all dream sequence episodes but every shows does it so.....They should have a season 6 for us FANS

  14. Makes sense. As long as they get a decent heads up...

  15. Some have commented that it's probably too late to do a rebrand on the network

  16. Unfortunately, the writers have never been able to make the characters feel terribly complex or three-dimensional. Instead, they just put them in very silly scenarios, with a constant case of bed-hopping. Unlike the original 90210, this version doesn't seem to care about continuity or relationships.

  18. please do not cancel this show. i love the drama.. the misery, the glory. .the drama.. we don't have something like this in AUstralia.. 90210 is one of the things that give me something to look forward to..

  19. I loved the original concept of this spin off. I was a big fan of Beverly Hills 90210. I found the first season of 90210 enjoyable. However, I feel like this show was run into the ground. Many characters slowly began acting way out of character with no development what so ever. Nevertheless, I've kept up with the show and if it's cancelled, I hope it gets a satisfying ending.

  21. I think that the show is already awesome and deserves many more episodes and seasons to come! 90210 deserves more viewers!!! The show is already very good better that the other crap they have on the air.!

  22. The Carrie Diaries shouldnt be before 90210

  23. I am a fan of the show and have watched all seasons but this season is terrible including the acting. The writing and storylines are terrible. No one cares about Adrianna, Teddy or Silver and her baby yuck, please abort it. Annie and Dixon are borig. Navid is boring. The only decent character is Naiomi and they never give her anything to do. Since there are no storylines in the show anymore they could wrap things up in one episode. Once every cast member has a music career, I think the show should end. The problem with 90210 and Gossip Girl is the writers are terrible. Don't blame the shows failure on the actors when the actors have to recite this crap in front of a TV camera.

  24. I would sign the petition only if they get new writers and better storylines

  25. I agree as the Carrie Diaries is a great idea except the writing and characters except for Robb are terrible.
